Beauty Flash Balm - Is it really just a primer?

I get SO confused.

Once the powers-that-be at airport security took my little plastic bag and went off to 'test' some of contents, and they did my beauty flash balm. It failed the test!! I was not allowed to keep it and had to give it up... It was a normal size, 50ml one..

Do you think? At heathrow? They showed me how it had failed the sample test... Hmmm... Too scared to reason with security.

Ooh ooh what's the superdrug one?

WelshMoth · 15/03/2014 17:13

I quite like it but am interested in the super drug one too...

Crutchlow35 · 15/03/2014 17:25

I use it and pat it on, not rub it.

Walnut8 · 15/03/2014 21:52

If you use too much & dont let it "set" it does ball up under makeup

Pumpkinette · 15/03/2014 22:14

I experienced that too walnut, it went flaky when I put my foundation on and looked like I had really dry skin. Less is definitely more.

Botanicbaby · 15/03/2014 22:36

agree with PP who recommended the Boots time delay version. I used to use Clarins products and found no difference between this and the beauty flash.

less is more otherwise it flakes off. think its a bit over-rated but maybe some skin types benefit more than others.

AmIGoingMad · 16/03/2014 06:59

I'm another one who tried it and totally couldn't understand what all the raving about it was about!

I was rubbing rather than smoothing so maybe that's it?

I've got one here that's been open for a while but am reluctant to spend on it again to try the smoothing method. Might try with the one I have but not sure it's a very fair test!

What is your skin like? I'm a bit old and tired with dry skin and (sadly) I think that is why it helps me :)

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 16/03/2014 07:24

I am a huge fan. It's not a primer - it's a toning cream, which is why you need to apply it in a film rather than rub it in :-)

It's also lovely if you mix it with their Hydraquench face pack and slap a big layer on for 20 mins or so. Lady from the Clarins counter told me that - best tip ever!

Those that find it 'pills' under make up - you need to smooth a thin layer over your skin and then apply make up quickly - if you let it set, that's when it pills. I was taught this method by the Clarins lady.
