Whistles Tube Skirts

ChablisLover · 10/03/2014 12:07

anyone have the Whistles tube skirts?

Thinking of investing in one using the 25% Grazia code but can't decide.

Are they thick?

Have a Bakujen one and the 25% discounts makes the whistles one relatively good value.

Aye they only for skinny girls? I have rather rounded hips?

Jackie0 · 12/03/2014 07:49

What about sizing ? I'm a 16 but a 14 in M&S. If they are to be worn tight go for 14 ?

Hopefully · 12/03/2014 07:51

Jackie I'd say they're generous but not massive. I'm a 10-12 and have a 10 which is perfect.

mirpuppet · 12/03/2014 07:55

Link please?

Jackie0 · 12/03/2014 08:08

Ah good , thanks hopefully Grin

Jackie0 · 12/03/2014 08:22

Ordered , feel a bit reckless Grin how open to suggestion am I ? Wink
It'll work with all my wardrobe in all seasons though ..... Right ? Smile

Hopefully · 12/03/2014 08:32

I wear mine year round - with opaques and boots in winter and sandals in summer. I am living in hope of them doing more in my colours (I look like a corpse in black and the Whistles dark navy).

Shimmyshimmy · 12/03/2014 08:36

I tried the navy one on in store and it felt too dark for the summer....so I've ordered the stripy one.

HelloBoys · 12/03/2014 08:59

Be careful of the knee one it rides up a bit which is great big not in office when half my male colleagues suddenly started eyeing my legs! Grin

Quite like striped one though got whistles GC so may invest.

ChablisLover · 12/03/2014 09:07

mac - id love some more ideas to wear with them too.

Must check out this stripy one too!

I dress them in a similar way to skinny jeans. Tried one on with a loose blouse a a slight tuck for a casual look and I liked it a lot. I'm a big fan of the midi style, my knees are not my best feature but a good maxi is so hard to find, the darker ones always look better but a bit overkill on a sunny day.

LordPalmerston · 12/03/2014 12:23

Lord. The other skirts on there are styled so frumpily

niceupthedance · 12/03/2014 13:06

I just bought one in store and you can still get the discount (as Grazia sold out) if you fill in a little card in the shop.

Mine is very tight, not sure I'll be able to walk in it, but the size up didn't look as flattering.

Floisme · 12/03/2014 13:34

Dammit people, now I'm looking at the stripy one as well Grin

NoGoatsToe · 12/03/2014 13:44

I can't decide between the short one and the below knee length one. I get loads of wear out of my cheap £8 matalan short one but it's gone a bit bobbly now. I love the look of the midi length but it would be a real change of style for me - usually jeans or black mini with opaques and biker boots. If you wear the midi one - do you wear tights with it?

Floisme · 12/03/2014 14:00

NoGoats Yes definitely - and with opaques and biker boots too! I only go bare legged when it's very hot.

desertbaby · 12/03/2014 14:04

I'm about to be sucked into yet another S&B purchase! What is the sizing like? True? Big / small?

desertbaby · 12/03/2014 14:06

Durrrrrr. Just saw sizing posts.

Shimmyshimmy · 12/03/2014 16:14

Black and white striped tube skirt in gap for £30 - £20 if you sign up and get 30% off!

ncjustbecause · 12/03/2014 17:35

Re sizing, I'm a 10 and fit into a 6.

I have a stripy short one I picked up in the sale last summer. Just bought a long fine-striped one with this offer Tube skirts are exactly the kind of thing where it's worth spending a bit more money. There were loads of flimsy tube skirts losing their shape last summer.

I wear mine very casually, simple tee and sandals. Would love to buy navy one to wear for work with tights, but not sure about footwear and what how I'd wear it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/03/2014 20:14

The midi ones are lovely. I have one with a v slightly risque split in it - fine with opaques or sheer tights, but not with my lace ones!

I like the idea of the navy with bare legs for summer, but don't think it would work for me otherwise. I wouldn't want to pair it with black opaques, but double navy would be a bit silly.

AwkwardSquad · 12/03/2014 20:30

Just ordered the stripy one. In my size this time - I have the black one but stupidly sized up for comfort, and it's not quite right.

ChablisLover · 12/03/2014 21:04

You've got me worried about sizing.

I'm a 10 in their tops and have a size 28 pair of whistles jeans - a size 10 would be right wouldn't it?

Called into my local house of Fraser on way home to the whistles concession and a 10 seemed small on hanger didn't try it on. ( it was the long version so wondered if I've missed a trick there as well) But then again I managed to shoe horn my bum into a size 27 skirt in gap.

This thread is hilarious.
I think I should have sized down and got the longer one. Anyway it's being delivered Friday so will let you know.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/03/2014 21:09

10 or 8 should be fine. I'm a 12 and usually buy a 12 (I like comfort!) but the 10s are probably a better fit on me.
