Has anyone got a good book recommendation?

Mara hand wash with delicate detergent should be ok.

maradesbois · 15/03/2014 12:59

Tks anni will do same. Have only had silk dresses before which d clean and wasn't sure if you could get silk wet.

Drywhiteplease · 15/03/2014 13:44

Mara you can wash silk. The reason they say Dc is that it often has a finish on it which goes with washing. I'd wash a shirt. The worst that could happen is that it looses a bit of sheen and the silk goes more drapey.

Come on England soz Liberty and Dec

I am sat in the sunshine enjoying a peaceful coffee before getting the food for tonight Smile...bliss.

What kind of thing do you like to read Marsha?

Turquoiseblue · 15/03/2014 14:24

Apologies for nonfashion post my phone doesn't seem to be sending the pm sleep.
I usually just buy vanilla bean ice cream for it, it s easy not too fancy though, and kids like it too (I would do a little bit without the baileys added for them)
Baileys and butterscotch biscuit sundae

Ingredients
300 g digestive biscuits
100 g flaked almonds, toasted
100 g unsalted butter, melted
300 g dark chocolate (72% cocoa solids)
1 tin condensed milk
30 ml baileys
for the butterscotch sauce:
150 g caster sugar
3 tblsp cold water
150 ml double cream
115 g unsalted butter
for the ice cream:
200 ml milk
300 ml double cream
6 large free range egg yolks
100 g soft brown sugar
Method
Roughly crush the digestive biscuits in a bowl. Stir in the flaked almonds and the melted butter. Melt the chocolate in a large bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, then stir in the condensed milk. Pour this chocolate mixture over the biscuits along with the Baileys and stir well to combine all the ingredients. Line a 2lb loaf tin with Clingfilm (or baking parchment) and spoon the mixture into it. Place the tin in the fridge to set for at least 2 hours.
For the butterscotch sauce, heat the sugar and water in a heavy based saucepan until the sugar dissolves, then stir mixture once and leave over a medium heat until the syrup turns golden. Add the cream and the butter and then whisk until all the ingredients are combined and melted. Remove from the heat and leave to cool completely.
To make the ice cream, pour the milk and cream into a pot and bring it to just under the boil. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick. Pour the hot cream and milk mix over them, whisking all the time. Sieve this mixture back into the pot and cook on a low heat until the mixture coats the back of a spoon, stir constantly. Remove from the heat and leave to cool for a few minutes, and then churn in an ice cream machine until thick. Pour the ice cream into a freezer container and drizzle the butterscotch sauce over it, and keep in the freezer.
Serve a slice of the cake with a scoop of ice cream.

I'm channelling this lady today. Taking dcs to steak house for dinner later, I'm wearing;

Cream silk fcuk shirt
Black slouch sweater (old DP)
Black skinny jeans
Royal blue Adidas Gazelles
Camel Massimo Dutti coat
Gucci black Disco

Feel quite with it Wink

MarshaBrady · 15/03/2014 16:24

Sleep I wrote that from the bookshop so probably a bit ambitious Grin I bought another Alice Munro. Clear, delicate and strong writing that I love atm.

Have fun tonight. What pudding are you going for?

Sounds yummy Turq!

MarshaBrady · 15/03/2014 16:24

Good look Dry, I really like it a lot.

BrandyAlexander · 15/03/2014 16:37

Hello! Just been trying on my Outnet stuff.

The Elizabeth Cole bracelets are amazing. Love, love, love them! The only thing I would say for anyone else is that I have child like wrists and they are perfect for me. I would be interested to see them in a bigger frame person.

The James Perse wool blend sweater is lovely, though odd trying it out today with the weather! I have never bought from that brand (James Perse) before so wasn't sure of sizing but it worked out.

The Bloch ballet pumps feel slightly uncomfortable. So while they were £30 down from £70, I am channeling Anni and sending them back!

The jeans. Well they fit, which is weird but they're too long I think. I am going to have another try. Confused

Dry, I love that look and love the sound of your outfit!Envy

Sleepwhenidie · 15/03/2014 16:41

I highly recommend 'If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things' next time Marsha - beautiful writing, seems very slow at first but sucks you in completely.

Drywhiteplease · 15/03/2014 16:54

Irish supporters.......DS has just said "I'm going to cry when O'DRiscoll finishes"!!!!!! he's 15!

Topazandpearl · 15/03/2014 16:55

This book is a good read Marsha.

Ocado also stock Clonakilty black and white puddings, can't have a Paddy's weekend without them!

One and others! your weight loss stories are inspirational. We'll done.

Now, time for the rugby.

Topazandpearl · 15/03/2014 16:55

Sorry for stray exclamation mark.

Drywhiteplease · 15/03/2014 17:05

Turq just bought it....looks great

Drywhiteplease · 15/03/2014 17:12

Goodness me the ref is rather handsome.....now on to the technical aspects of the game Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/03/2014 17:27

Hi all. Love the talk of puddings earlier!

Glad the outnet goodies are mostly keepers mara and novice.

Great outfit Dry, have a great time. Really want a camel coat this winter, I think they are going to be in (more than usual!) so you're obviously ahead of the crowd Grin

Have had a lovely day in the garden, which is not like me! Been preparing soil beds for planting veg tomorrow (!) and planting/repotting a few things. We have a small low maintenance garden so I feel like it's loads :) Such gorgeous weather, hope everyone's had a good day.

QueenCadbury · 15/03/2014 17:29

Quick hello from me. Lovely to see the sun out again today. I'm off out tonight and haven' really thought about what to wear. I'm going out with another ingenue natural so it'll be interesting to see how similar/different we look.

Drywhiteplease · 15/03/2014 17:37

That'll be a first Blair... But I love it and wear it a lot.
QueenC can you remind me of the quiz that tells you what style you are....or was it a style day? Have a good time tonight.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/03/2014 18:09

I think QueenC had a style day, but do you mean this one Dry?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/03/2014 18:10

PS But it doesn't give quite the same categories as HoC.

MarshaBrady · 15/03/2014 18:28

Thanks Topaz and Sleep, I have put them on the amazon wish list for the next purchase.

Novice and Mara great news on the outnet successes. Wish I had got something in the clearance now!

libertychick · 15/03/2014 22:08

Oh my!! What a day - great result for Ireland - Dry you can tell your DS I cried for BO'D! What a completely amazing way to end your career - he looked ecstatic.

Going to give you all two quotes - first from the arm of the rather attractive ref He who controls himself controls the game - true in rugby and in life!

And following the conversation about body image yesterday I remembered this quote 'By being the curator of our images, we care for our souls' by Thomas Moore.

I may have drunk a bit tonight

Air kisses to all Smile

QueenCadbury · 16/03/2014 06:53

Morning! Had a lovely night last night. Good food, good company (waves to queenofwhatever if she's lurking).

dry I did a style day but there was a quiz somewhere online...

Decameron · 16/03/2014 07:31

Good morning.

Lots of J Brands on Brandalley today.

What did you wear, QueenC?

Topaz, I love pudding too.

Dry, I'd say you're a Classic something. Not that I know really. Your outfit last night sounds great. BOD is the man, great send off for him! .

I'm going for a run. But going to have a hot cross bun when I get back to cancel it out.

Decameron · 16/03/2014 07:32

Liberty, I used a pink bag I'd bought in the winter for the first time yesterday, the DDs were in raptures over it, I think they'd get on well with your DD!
