Ok genuine question. Can anyone explain why one of these is chiller- cabinet cool and the other is, um, not?

They are both awful, the second one being much more awful.

MikeLitoris · 07/03/2014 17:26

Its the pattern on the second. Its awful.

Floisme · 07/03/2014 17:28

I can't see it though - they both look the same to me. I'm scared.

OP posts:
Joey8 · 07/03/2014 17:28

Haha!

Agree, they are both awful!

M&S version definitely the worst.

HyvaPaiva · 07/03/2014 17:29

Topshop one is better, though! 100% cotton, slightly more flattering shape and length. Fitted at waist. It's 1950s-inspired so at least it's attempting something.

M&S is just awful, it's nothing but a random collection of messy, cheap elements. 100% viscose, drawstring waist Hmm, knee-length yet flared. Awful pattern. Yuck.

Hopasholic · 07/03/2014 17:30

Is it just my screen or does the M&S one look like its got a cock pouch?

EyelinerQueen · 07/03/2014 17:31

I like the Topshop one. It would look great if styled correctly.

The Marks one is way worse. Yuck.

EyelinerQueen · 07/03/2014 17:31

Yes Hop there's a definite polterwang going on in that photo Shock

Floisme · 07/03/2014 17:34

So you can all see a difference? Seriously?

OP posts:
squoosh · 07/03/2014 17:35

Look at the way the model's arms in the M&S picture just hang by her side lifelessly. She looks totally defeated by the ugly skirt.

Dilidali · 07/03/2014 17:36

Good lord, OP, what got into you? My eyes hurt!!!
No. Just no.

Floisme · 07/03/2014 17:37

I'm serious Grin Why is one awful and the other not?

OP posts:
squoosh · 07/03/2014 17:41

I could see the Topshop skirt being worn by a tall, slim (obv) girl, coupled with a fine, navy woollen jumper and canvas backpack for that authentic 1987 Oxford undergraduate look. And it would look good.

The M&S skirt is very Lady Mayoress at a down at heel seaside resort cutting the ribbon on a new branch of Poundland.

Floggingmolly · 07/03/2014 17:42

Who told you they were cool? They're both shite.

Lilly20again · 07/03/2014 17:42

Hopasholic. Yes I see that too!

MarshaBrady · 07/03/2014 17:43

I like the Topshop one. Not sure I could wear it, can't do long and flowy. But I can think of a few people who could wear it well.

The other one is hideous.

MrsCakesPremonition · 07/03/2014 17:43

Topshop have cunningly dodged the bullet by failing to provide a picture of someone wearing their monstrosity.
The M&S skirt does nothing for the model, but at least they are open about it.

UriGeller · 07/03/2014 17:44

I like the Topshop one. If I was 16 I'd wear it with a tucked in white tshirt and a pair of DM shoes. White ankle socks. Big chunky cardi.

Or am I thinking of myself in 1988?

The m and s one is a migraine.

Floisme · 07/03/2014 17:44

I don't believe any of you Grin

I think fashion is taking the piss out of us all.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 07/03/2014 17:45

M&S is like those magic eye pictures from the 90s.

squoosh · 07/03/2014 17:45

Fashion has always taken the piss silly!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/03/2014 17:46

The TS one is handwash
The M&S is machinewash @ 30c

So there's the answer for me.
Though I bet you could boilwash the M&S one and the fecker would survive Hmm

squoosh · 07/03/2014 17:47

If we stare at the M&S skirt long enough will we see Jesus on a skateboard Marsha? I could never get those magic eye pictures to work.

Floisme · 07/03/2014 17:49

Ok I do get that the M&S one is hideous - I'm not that clueless! Just talk me through just why the Top Shop one is any better.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 07/03/2014 17:49

Haha Squoosh yep Grin

I remember crowds outside the shops staring at them.

And the plastic things where the milk carton was in mid air pouring the milk.
