polo necks: fab or frumpy?

Just that, really. Fancy one, but last time I wore one I was tighter of jowl and flatter of boobage. Would you?

They seem quite trendy atm.

Floisme · 26/02/2014 19:48

Not me, never. I've never looked good in them - not even before I acquired jowls!

sewbee50 · 26/02/2014 19:50

I wear a black one with a jaunty scarf! I'm a bit too bosomy but the scarf detracts (so I tell myself)

TheEmpress · 26/02/2014 19:51

I think...

Small boobs= fab

Big boobs = frumpy

RonaldMcDonald · 26/02/2014 19:52

Frumpy on me as I have tittage

RockinD · 26/02/2014 19:52

Not with big boobs. End of.

JabberJabberJay · 26/02/2014 19:54

I look dreadful in them. I'm a DD cup size and I've never managed to look anything but matronly.

though they do hide my saggy neck

LeslieKnope · 26/02/2014 19:55

Frumpy.

You think you're going to look like this but in reality look like this instead.

My mother wears them and even though she's slim and boobless they just look dated. Especially when she wears her gold necklaces over the top Shock.

Floisme · 26/02/2014 20:01

It's not just the boobs though. Even when I was flat chested (pre menopause) I still looked awful in them

TulipOHare · 26/02/2014 20:02

I love them but they don't love me! LeslieKnope is bang on Grin

Pannacotta · 26/02/2014 20:03

I like them but then I have small boobs, think that helps.

sewbee50 · 26/02/2014 20:10

Oh gawd do I look like Gail :( What a wake-up call Shock

I thought if they kind of clinged to your neck they were ok - Gail's collar bits are ginormous

tethersend · 26/02/2014 20:12

Love, love, love them- and I have huge boobs.

I usually wear them with a long 70s pendant over the top.

cloudskitchen · 26/02/2014 20:41

I think ribbed ones are more flattering than unribbed ones Grin

Snowdown · 26/02/2014 23:27

I love them - can't do ribbed though - makes boobs look huge! I have a long thin neck and ample boobage - I wear them under v necks.

bunnymother · 27/02/2014 06:06

I love them, but I'm not very bosomy. I have a few cashmere ones, esp Uniqlo, as I hate an itchy neck.

Chloerose75 · 27/02/2014 06:12

They are dreadful. I do have big boobs so would stay away for that reason but I just think they are a hideous item of clothing in general. I LOLed at the Gail montage!

Financeprincess · 27/02/2014 06:49

I'm not well endowed and I too loathe polo necks. Not just because of the Gail Tilsley factor, although those powerful images would be enough to distress anybody.

They make you look as if you have no neck, and they itch.

PrimalLass · 27/02/2014 07:15

Horrible on me, and they make me feel claustrophobic.

eurochick · 27/02/2014 07:20

I live in them all winter. I'm a chilly person and they are the only thing I feel cosy in. I am just a B cup though, which helps them not to look frumpy.

BumWad · 27/02/2014 07:21

I didn't realise people still wore polo necks!! Do places still sell these garments???? Confused

Snowdown · 27/02/2014 07:24

They seem a bit marmite don't they. I think long neck small boobs seems to be the rule. I love the mod 60's look - wish my boobs were smaller so I go wear them in a fitted plain fine knit, when they have most impact.

Nocomet · 27/02/2014 07:39

I'm wearing a polo neck in my first ever school photo (1972ish), I don't think I need to go there again.

Namechangeforamo · 27/02/2014 08:51

I have about 7 black polo necks, so handy for work. I love that sixties look when they are worn with cocoon shape skirt or cigarette trousers. Also under a trench coat, tres chic

HappyGirlNow · 27/02/2014 09:38

I love them but I'm tall, slim, long neck, little boobs.. If you aren't all of these they do look frumpy unfortunately..

NannyK7H · 27/02/2014 10:03

I quite like them, but mainly because I have long legs with a stupidly short body, so it elongates my body and then my giraffe legs don't look so silly! Although I can't bear it when people wear necklaces over the top of them!!!
