How amazing is threading??

I was in a shopping precinct today and decided to get my eyebrows threaded on impulse. I asked the woman how long it would take and she said '5 minutes'. I said 'What, even for eyebrows like mine, which haven't been sorted for ages?' She replied 'It normally takes 2 minutes. For yours, 5 minutes!'

I sat down and in under 5 minutes I had neat eyebrows.

I'm very impressed.

I love it too despite the pain. It's the only beauty treatment I actually pay for!

Bunbaker · 22/02/2014 14:39

It's brilliant. I had mine done in Debenhams the other day, then took DD a couple of days later. I shan't bother with waxing again.

Jbck · 22/02/2014 14:49

Do you not have other people saliva on you now?

Bunbaker · 22/02/2014 14:52

No. Why would you ask that?

MarvellousMechanicalMouseOrgan · 22/02/2014 14:52

I'd let her lick my whole face, my brows are amazing.

PartyConfused · 22/02/2014 14:53

I've just had a go myself! Look for a tutorial on youtube. I had only a couple of mins (baby woke up) but I was amazed that it was actually working! A bit more practice and i'll be well on my way.

Just don't let them do your top lip.... Big mistake!! I had a rash for a week and it was beyond painful!

Lj8893 · 22/02/2014 16:39

I love threading and find it less painful than waxing. I also get my top lip done but have never had any issue like netty although lip does hurt more than brow!

Bunbaker · 22/02/2014 16:49

"Just don't let them do your top lip.... Big mistake!! I had a rash for a week and it was beyond painful!"

That's just you. I had my top lip done last week and it looks fab. No rash and just some slight discomfort. But it was worth it to not look like this

Jbck · 22/02/2014 17:21

Ive not had it done but it was a friend who commented that they couldn't get the thought out of their head that because the threader holds part of the thread in their mouth their saliva could travel along the thread and it put me off a bit.
Genuine question, just seemed a bit unhygienic. I shall go Youtube.

trainersandaches · 22/02/2014 17:24

I love threading! Had it done first years ago when I was backpacking in India and since then have kept it up - so quick and effective!

Depends on the beautician not all of them hold the thread in their mouth.

I thread my own upper lip, it's gentler than waxing and very quick. If skin is properly taught doesn't hurt so much either (less than waxing).

Rocksie · 22/02/2014 18:21

I've had it done twice and on both occasions they left my eyebrows too thin even though I asked them not to. It took me months to grow them back. I don't think I'll ever try it again.

trader21c · 22/02/2014 18:24

It's painful but I always go back for more - eyebrows and top lip - once I asked for the whole face and regretted it

CalamityKate · 22/02/2014 18:24

Good god no. It's agony. Waxing hurts far less!

morethanpotatoprints · 22/02/2014 18:30

OMG, it was more painful than having 3 dc for me, never again.
I am sticking to having them waxed, didn't feel a thing.

Bunbaker · 22/02/2014 19:11

I must have a higher pain threshold then.

Lj8893 · 22/02/2014 19:44

See, I didn't find it as painful as waxing personally. But my skin always reacts a little to waxing, whereas with threading I don't find so abrasive.

lougle · 22/02/2014 20:05

I didn't think it was too painful. I was too amazed I think.

I'm a touch disappointed that she's done one eye brow further in than the other, but it should only take a couple of hairs to even it out.

It hurts the first couple of times. The first time my upper lip was numb for two days! But I'd never waxed or anything so it was the very first hair removal in that area. It makes you want to sneeze and if stings if they go too close to the actual lip - or nostrils!

However, I love it. Feels so clean afterwards.

Longdistance · 23/02/2014 03:33

I have it fine quite often. But omg, having my mooie done is a nightmare, I'm red for ages, and really hate being stared at, as my face is a glowing red and everyone knows I've just had my tash removed.

Frozennortherner · 23/02/2014 07:07

Do they ever do legs? And if not, why not?

Lj8893 · 23/02/2014 08:06

It can be done but they only usually thread small areas like facial hair as it would take a long time to thread the legs!!

ellesabe · 23/02/2014 20:31

I'm quite interested in this, having only ever used my own trusty old tweezers on my eyebrows Blush

How much does threading cost?
