How amazing is threading??

I was in a shopping precinct today and decided to get my eyebrows threaded on impulse. I asked the woman how long it would take and she said '5 minutes'. I said 'What, even for eyebrows like mine, which haven't been sorted for ages?' She replied 'It normally takes 2 minutes. For yours, 5 minutes!'

I sat down and in under 5 minutes I had neat eyebrows.

I'm very impressed.

It is total agony. Had it done once - my eyebrows looked marginally nicer than they had before but my God, the pain. I wouldn't have it done again unless my eyebrows looked like Denis Healey's.

ellesabe, it costs £5-15, depending on where you have it done.

lougle · 23/02/2014 21:26

I either have a high pain threshold or my lady was just brilliant, because I would say the discomfort wasn't that high, tbh. I remember when I had my armpits waxed for my wedding - I nearly stopped her after the first one!

It cost me £5 and was finished in under 5 minutes.

Oh come on, it isn't that painful Imogen. You must have had a complete amateur do yours.

It cost me £10 for eyebrows and £5 for my upper lip in Debenhams and just took a few minutes. You don't book, you just turn up and wait.

Notfootball · 23/02/2014 21:32

Love having eyebrows threaded. £5-10 at booth in shopping centre & salons, £3 at local Indian salon.

GlendaTheGrizzlyPiggy · 23/02/2014 21:39

Oh god it was the most painful thing I've ever agreed to have done to me. I sobbed in the middle of debenhams. Not my proudest moment.

On the other hand though my eyebrows go baboons arse red after waxing and the last time I had them done I got the bus home, a couple of sweet old ladies asked me if I was ok.

Fairyloo · 23/02/2014 21:46

No it kills

I only let them do half an eyebrow was like being stabbed

I'm a slight soft arseHmm

Bunbaker · 23/02/2014 21:57

It doesn't kill. I must have had an expert. I did wince once or twice when I had my upper lip done, but it was worth it not to look like Poirot.

Lj8893 · 23/02/2014 22:05

I don't think its that painful! Abit uncomfortable maybe with the odd pinch/sting.

rosesareredvioletsarepurple · 23/02/2014 22:09

Absolute agony. As bad as getting my fanjo lips waxed, worse maybe. I much prefer getting my eyebrows waxed.

rosesareredvioletsarepurple · 23/02/2014 22:10

And I go red for a week, and go a bit swollen. Not sure why I did it more than once...

Choccyjules · 23/02/2014 22:11

This thread just prompted me to watch a video of the procedure and now my right eye is running! Clearly I am a wimp...

lougle · 23/02/2014 22:12

Did you hold your skin taut as she threaded? My lady was very insistent and even repositioned my hands because it wasn't good enough.

"My lady was very insistent and even repositioned my hands because it wasn't good enough."

Same here.

Pinter · 23/02/2014 22:21

Brows, ouch.
Top lip, more ouch
Cheeks. Fucking killed!

godlessdomestic · 24/02/2014 00:36

I had my brows tinted & waxed at Benefit the other day. It was brilliant, they even put makeup on afterwards to hide any redness. I don't think I will ever go back to threading.

Jenda · 24/02/2014 00:57

I love threading but have to psyche myself up to do it and try and have Wine before! I'm ok with pain generally but any kind of hair removal from my eyebrows hurts me a lot. My lady is good and positions my hands and is quick but I find it very hard not to
burst into tears in the shopping centre! Maybe it hurts less the more often you have it done?

trader21c · 24/02/2014 01:01

I pay £6.50 for eyebrows and upper lip. Beautiful results! but Ouch I think it does hurt a bit less the more you have it done. DD goes too now and swears by it ... do have to hold the skin taught on the eyebrows while the women thread it

K8Middleton · 24/02/2014 01:19

Actual lol at "I'd let her lick my whole face" Grin

Stokey · 24/02/2014 09:41

It brings tears to my eyes - but only takes 5 mins so well worth it

Costs £3-5 round here, bargain.

Naicecuppatea · 24/02/2014 14:59

I quite like the pain of it actually. Moushe is agony though, never again. Eyebrows are fantastic with threading and the shape lasts for ages.
