if you are a size 14, what size bra are you?

sorry to be so personal!

im a 14 top and bottom. i used to be pear shaped but as ive got bigger i seem to be pretty even top and bottom. im not ecstatic to be a size 14, because i used to be a size 8. ive just got totally fed up of diets and my will power has all but gone.

im just curious as to what size boobs people have who are the same size as me.
im 5ft 4 and weigh 10st 10 at the moment. a little more than normal - but i just had an operation on my stomach and thought i would lose weight because of it so i basically ate what i wanted over xmas - mistake.
normally i weigh between 10st 4 and 10st 8.
cant quite believe ive not lost weight after the op but i havent.

i would prefer ideally to weigh 9st 7 but not been there for about 4 years.

i have just had to buy new bras. i am now a 34 DD. (pencil test still passed....!

I am 10.4 stones not sure if I am a 14 (may be a 12). 34B i.e small boobs.

A lot of place will tell you that you're a 34 simply because that is the smallest back size they sell. Also there's that old 'add 5 inches' nonsense. So many people that have been told they are a 34 are not really a 34 but obviously some people are.

When I was at school in the 70's I was always lead to believe that if you were size 14 you had a 36 bust, 12 was a 34, 16 was 38. That's it really.

I'd love to be about 2 stone lighter but even at 11 stone I was never smaller than a size 12 and a 34DD.

thats piffle btw. I am a size 20/22 and wear a 36GG. I used to wear a 40D due to some bad measuring (M&S). I put my small back size down to my powerhooping classes.

Oh and I'm hourglass/pear.

p.s. I am 5' 6" and weigh 15 stone (still only have 36 inch back)

Mainly size 14, with some 12s, 5'8 and 34 E/F. This is after a breast reduction. They do "sit" a lot higher now and I now have a visible waistline as a result.

I am quite surprised to read that lots of people who are a size 14 wear a 30 back bra. I am size 8 and measure 29" around, I would have thought if I was a couple of stone heavier I would measure quite a bit larger. Out of interest bra gurus what are typical band sizes for other dress sizes?

Size 14, 12 sometimes, very occasionally 16 depending on brand, 5'5'', a tubby 11 stone 7, 38C. It's what's comfortable.

I always thought a 12 with a 34 band size and a 14 with a 36 band size was very average. I am between the two. I used to work in la senza years ago and we used to rubbish the m and s way of measuring but even when I was a. 10 id never try less than a 32. As for cup size our way of fitting was to just try everything untill something fit, so you'd establish the band size then just keep going up in the cup. Not particularly scientific.

TheBuskersDog I really does vary depending on rib cage, boniness/squishiness, muscle tone etc. But the size 8s and 10s I know usually measure between 26" and 30". I also know a few 12s and 14s that measure around 28".

I measure 29".5" under bust and wear a 30GG. Because of the GG bit I have to wear a size 12 on top, especially in anything that does up (e.g. jacket, cardigan) but can sometimes wear a 10 or a S in a t-shirt etc.

My ample hips make me a 12 on the bottom!

Thebusk people with big boobs will NEED small band sized to fit in a 14 and people like me with 33.5 inch underbreast will have to have small boobs to fit in the same size.
When I was a 6 I was a 30 A may be AA.
I gave up bras anyway, I wear those crop tops, much better fit for me.

MrsNec when we visited LaSenza they added 4-5" - just like M&S do? Doing the cups by trial and error is the best option but it's a bit useless if (like M&S) you start 3 band sizes too big!

The BuskersDog it does vary depending on body shape - it definitely doesn't go up linearly as body shapes change (you get more atheltic, straight body types at lower sizes for example), larger bodes can be softer so need a tighter band etc but if I had to put it VERY roughly

Size 8 - Rarely above a 30, often need sizes which aren't actually manufactured!
Size 10-28/30 (or smaller) with the odd 32
size 12 - 28-32 with the odd 34
Size 14 - 30-34, but with outliers at 28 and 36 for hourglasses or apples
Size 16 - 32-36ish, but as above with outliers

I'm mainly a size 12/14 because of my massive arse. My ribcage is quite petite. Most of my tops are a size 10.
