It's been a while since I set one up so thought I'd do the honours.
For glass half full fashion fanatics. Bring a positive attitude, a love of clothes and lots of lovely links. All welcome, from high street to high end.

I can see marsha wearing most of the things in this designers's S/S collection.

I love those jumpsuits but they would not suit me at all. Sad

QueenCadbury · 26/02/2014 12:52

mig hugs and Wine for you.

turq I like brogues but I'm not sure they'd like me as they're a bit too masculine. I like these ones as they look a little less clumpy. I also can't decide whether I like the clarks ones with the little bits cut out although they'd be useless in the rain.

shop dh puts all his coffee granules in the sink but we also have a waste disposal. I adore the smell of coffee but hate the taste although I used to be quite partial to my walnut and coffee cake.

shopafrolic · 26/02/2014 12:56

QueenC I bought brogues from Clarks and only wore them 3 or 4 times so EBayed them last week. Just not me. :(
I think they look great with little floral print dresses and cardigans (which is probably why they are so not me!)

Following on from yesterday's SC talk, look at him here. Euuurrggh.

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2014 13:19

I think brogues can look very good as Shop says with pretty little dresses. But it really has to be your style. I couldn't do it either, I wouldn't feel right but love the look on others who can.

Cripes is that real. Sunburnt hell, perhaps they amped it up in photoshop.

santamarianovella · 26/02/2014 13:33

linus I remember that!

queen I think the sunburn is the least worrying thing,it all looks very weird to me,If it were me!

decam did you get anything form shopbop? They have a code going on,

OneLittleLady · 26/02/2014 13:33

Jeez, that's some bad bad sunburn on SC. It must hurt like hell!

Stokey · 26/02/2014 14:08

Well bit the brogues bullet in my lunch break and bought these. Think the texture makes them look less boyish and looked good with what I am wearing - A-line mini, tucked in T & a cardie. I had exactly the same thought as you Queen about the ones with holes in, just impractical in the rain.

If anyone is thinking of buying - they come up quite big, I went down half a size.

Do any of you have girls? Also popped into H&M & they have loads of cute drop-waisted summer dresses for bargain £2.99 in the 1-8yr range.

Drywhiteplease · 26/02/2014 14:12

Hello everyone!

Facials......love them ESP the clarins anti ageing one! my skin really did glow temporarily afterwards. I'd rather save up for Botox though Grin

I LOVED Peanuts and had a snoopy that I cuddled a lot. Think Woodstock was hilarious.

Handcream......L'Occitane for me.

Cafetières ......I'm with Shop and Santa, I'm old school and impatient, like a quick, strong caffeine kick in the morning. coffee granules go down the sink, so messy . It was a happy day when I found a metal one broke loads of glass ones over the years, have I told you I'm very clumsy?

Mig so sorry you're having a tough time at the mo. My DH also likes to stroll round the Estate! Grin

Brogues are too masculine for me, but I have a very chunky and well made pair of black loafers that I love with slim leg or cropped trousers for work. A v young shop assistant told me I looked cool once when I was wearing them, made my decade Grin

Queenc I'm with you. Nothing grabbing me in the shops at the moment. So I'm spending all my energy looking at toilets, baths, showers etc.....my life is so exciting Grin

Simon Cowell is disgusting and will someone sort his bloody clothes out!

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 14:13

Thanks for all your kind words Flowers. Sometimes they only way you can measure your responses is by testing them out on people who are not emotionally invested in your family dynamics so I thank you all for showing me that what I feel is valid.

Yes my siblings all feel the same. It is awful to see the pain in your sisters face and my brother gets that tight closed off look. He has had his own awful trauma with his child's health issues this past year so she (the cow stepm) is doubly selfish in inflicting this crap upon him.

Queen that storm blue Brogue is very unusual in its colour. Think it'd look lovely with all the silver and pastels that are about this season. I am a Brogue person.

They showed film of the Cowell dogs licking the face of the newborn yesterday. Just foul.

maradesbois · 26/02/2014 14:18

Hello everyone,

Pouring with rain here so decided to spend morning in town instead of skiing. Bought this jumper in petit bateau. It's cotton so will be good for winter/spring transition and like the fact it's nautical but an alternative to stripes. Was also looking at the longchamp spring colours, the yellow which think it was shop was admiring is gorgeous. They also had summer pumps in yellow and white.

I also like lots of the Marni that's on the outnet including this bag but the fastening looks like it could be a pita. Maybe I'm just attracted to its yellowness! Still prefer the bright smythson yellow though.

liberty I don't have facials but swear by a glycolic peel once a month, not for acne but just because it seems to keep my skin looking fresh and also helps with fine lines.

Regarding French pharmaceutical brands I love klorane shampoo & conditioner too, find it in John lewis in the uk. Also uriage body wash/shampoo, buy in bulk in France for ds.

mig zatchels bag is beautiful, she's a lucky girl! Sorry for your losses, seems like you have a lot going on to explain the anxiety. Hope you are feeling a bit more relaxed today.

marsha glad you're getting your coffee fix. I swear by a Nespresso lungo (volluto I think) first thing and maybe a smaller one in the afternoon. Being in France has enforced a break in my costa latte habit which is probably no bad thing!

umlauf re tshirts am ordering some iris&ink outnet ones that seem to be pretty much as you describe. They're £25, thin fabric, round neck not too high.

Annianni · 26/02/2014 14:23

You had a baby a week or 2 ago, your ex husband has got a thing put in the divorce saying that your Ds1 can't be with your new partner, or you lose £££ of child support... And your new partner drags you off on holiday (so where's Ds1, surely he wants to be with his new brother)

Oh, and your new partner's beautiful ex girlfriend is coming on the holiday too... Just what you need when you've recently given birth Hmm

That's a seriously fucked up relationship!

Annianni · 26/02/2014 14:24

That was in response to the SC comments.

Annianni · 26/02/2014 14:27

Those brogues are lovely.
I would look like an arse in them though.

I miss coffee sometimes.
I went off it whilst pregnant with Ds1 and the smell still turns my stomach Sad

Stokey · 26/02/2014 14:34

LOL Anni

Am a bit bemused by the whole SC thing - always heard rumours that he batted for the other side - who knows? Confused

maradesbois · 26/02/2014 14:44

queenc & stokey am also a brogue person. Got into them after trailing round the jermyn st mens shops with dh. The sales girls wear them with short skirts & opaques or ankle skimming trousers to make them less masculine. Mine which are on my pin have ribbon laces which also makes them more feminine.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 26/02/2014 14:49

mig you are certainly not alone. When FIL died almost 10 yrs ago he left everything to his girlfriend - the woman he left MIL for. His will was a typed A5 slice of paper and, the tiny bit in which he mentioned his sons (i.e should girlfriend not survive him by more than 14 days), his 4 boys weren't even named in age order, just randomly which DH thought was odd. I know none of them wanted to make a fuss because he was their dad and they loved him, but I have seethed over it for 10 years. He was a lousy father - negligent at best, completely self-absorbed, selfish and self-serving at worst. He made MIL's life miserable, with his womanising and controlling ways. He had a volatile temper but liked to play the proud Papa/Grandpa when it earned him pats on the back. So when he left nothing to any of his four children or five grandchildren (and it was a substantial six-figure cash sum), it wasn't the money that bothered me, it was the fact that he had always failed to do the right thing for his family and didn't even make amends when he had one last chance to do so.

I know exactly how you're feeling as I have felt it on DH's behalf for so long now.

BTW, the girlfriend spent all the money on designer goods and a complete makeover - no more Christmas presents for the GCs, no birthday cards, nothing. It's all gone now, apparently.

Drywhiteplease · 26/02/2014 14:50

Anni I've read OK for long enough to realise that seriously rich people play by their own rules. If you have enough wealth you can get away with murder.......literally.....and if you join that group then you must be aware that that's what it's like or have I watched too much Game of Thrones

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 14:53

Grumpy

Oh I hear you sister. It is about wanting to do right by supposedly those you loved. She paraded the grandkids through the funeral having them read out poems yada yada and then kicks them in the teeth- not even a bloody photo or mug or item of clothing.

Hearing about her trip to St Lucia with another man is just deliberate goading.

Yes my Father was very well off and could have really set up his grandkids with plenty left over.

I'm sorry that happened to your husband Grumpy. it causes so much pain. Flowers

QueenCadbury · 26/02/2014 14:57

Oh grumpy that's awful. How do some people just lose their moral compass.

anni you sum it up beautifully about SC.

stokey I buy loads of those dresses in the summer. Gutted that dd1 is too big for them now but will get some for dd2.

santamarianovella · 26/02/2014 15:00

Lol anni I feel bad for the ex husband tbh,she was his wife, and he was his best friend, and seeing their pictures all over the mags, must be really hard for him,

dry please see reactions to red wedding on youtube, its really funny,I'm having game of thrones withdrawal, must know what happens next!

grumpy that's terrible.

LinusDKD · 26/02/2014 15:12

Great brogues stokey and queenc!

Every time we go to Church's for DH's shoes I salivate over their gorgeous women's brogues. They used to have a red patent leather pair that were to die for.

Have just given up shopping for a cheap bra to tide me over until I reach my target weight.

According to the bra intervention rules I am a 32 E Shock and not a 36 B as I thought but most brands in dept stores only go up to a D cup!

And what's this thing about having difference in size in the same brand

One 32 E fitted ok but was not worth £60.

And does H&M have any bras other than push-up ones???

Rant over!

(I did see some cute Snoopy pj's though)

Might just order some cheap M&S ones online and hope the 32 E Shock fits.

LinusDKD · 26/02/2014 15:15

I really feel for your DH grumpy, that is such a vile way to treat your children.

I really don't understand some people.

Stokey · 26/02/2014 15:38

Linus if you can get to John Lewis, they normally have small back, large cup sizes. Also some House of Fraser & of course Bravissimo is well worth a visit.

Otherwise there are some pretty cheap online shops like Brastop that you can but a few styles & then send back.

Mara I work on Jermyn st - maybe that's why I feel the need for brogues! Ribbon laces sounds good

Santa very disciplined of you not to have read ahead - I had to read through all the books after the first series which does ruin the shock value (although I still love it).

Depressing about all these fathers & their second wives/partners.
I've barely seen my own father since he left my mother 16 years ago as his new wife won't allow it.

Mignonette · 26/02/2014 15:38
