How often do you wash your clothes?

I ask as my friend recently commented that my washing machine is always on (which it is) and asked what I am washing all the time....

Bedding and towels once a week

and clothes every day of course.....

She asked how often and I was slightly aghast.... We all wear a fully clean outfit every day. I sometimes wear a cardie or jumper for 2 days but everything else is changed daily.
She wears jeans for a couple of weeks and tops 2/3 times before washing.
And most clothes get ironed.

Is she a scuzz bucket or am I OTT???

I wash when things or dirty and/or smell. I wear jeans until they are dirty as washing too often stretches them and fades the colour really quickly. I also wash them inside out to protect the colour. I will often wear things like dresses more than once providing they don't have food/drink stains or any other obvious dirt on them. Same with cardigans, I wear until they are dirty/smelly. Maybe I am a scruff though

I wear tops once, cardis a couple of times depending on what I have done in them, dresses once and jeans a few times, again depends on what ive worn them for. Don't put a load on everyday but have lots of clothes and no kids so could last a week if needed

Wash clothes and pjs every day when they are taking off, towels after maybe 2 uses and sheets,duvets once a week. Mine is on every day at least once

I don't was my jeans after each wear, and jumpers or cardis that haven't had direct skin contact will last for more than one was...even with that the washing machine is ALWAYS on...

Jeans feel much better after a few wears.

Jeans get done after a couple of wears tops daily uniforms daily as well.

But have you ever found her to be smelly?!

I do wash things pretty much the same as you but realise that this is probably OTT. I do find that if I try to wash less often and be less wasteful that things look worn and creased. Are you supposed to iron in between wears?

Tops and underwear gets washed after every wear. Jeans usually get worn 2/3 times before washing. Dresses get washed after every wear. Cardigans and jumpers get washed after 2/3 wears. Coats and jackets get washed every 3/4 weeks if they have been worn almost every day.

Jeans I have to admit get washed every couple of weeks. That's not to say I wear them every day for a fortnight, probably 5 - 7 times. Same with cardigans/jumpers, as I alternate them depending on what I'm wearing underneath. Tops in the winter I'll wear twice. In the summer it's a clean top everyday.

My bedding gets changed weekly. The kids bedding less often.

I do a couple of loads of towels each week.

Even then I do a wash every day, and the machine is always full.

Things I wash everyday:
Underwear
T.Shirts - Blouses etc

Things that might go two days:
Jumpers
Skirts
(basically- things that aren't touching the skin might be OK to go again)

Things that go until they look manky:
Jeans
Coats
Hats/Scarfs etc

I realise Jeans a more logically in the two day category according to my system but somehow if feels ok to keep going. I think Jeans are maybe even mean to look a tiny bit scuzzy. They originate as work wear after all.

do you do the same with dry clean only clothes?

i wear t shirts / cotton sleeveless vests (washed daily) under all my silk tops so i don't dry clean them all the time. Jeans get worn several times, also knitwear. I'd trash everything I owned if it got washed / dry cleaned that often.

Tops every 2 days as well as trousers. Nightdresses for longer. Towels and bed linen are changed once a week.
Same with the dcs but they tend to come back muddy from school so not unusual that they have to get changed everyday.

we still about one wash a day though

My washing machine seems to always be on too but I don't wash anywhere near as much as you! Never never wash jeans unless they are actually dirty. Tops probably after 3 wears (I know most people think this is gross though). Jumpers etc very rarely. Socks and pants after every wear. Dresses hardly ever unless they are tight and I feel like I have sweated into them.

I would obviously wash something if it had visible dirt/mark on it but otherwise wash things very little. Kids clothes obviously washed more as usually pretty dirty.

Bedding probably every two weeks (though I don't agree with this and do think I should do it more)

Towels probably once a week.

Only iron DH's work shirts and one or two things of mine that get really really creased. Would never iron kid clothes!

I'd say I am dirtier than most but does sound like you are a bit OTT (not that it matters obviously, do what you like!) compared to most.

Out of interest why do you do washing so often? Is it because you feel like the clothes smell?

I think it's psychological and feel clothes look creased after 1 wear

My jeans fall off if I don't wash them each time

Bath towels & bedding once a week. Tea towels & cloths every day, hand towels every other day. Pyjamas every few nights. Tops, dresses after every couple of wears, jeans usually after 3 times. Underwear every day. Stuff that's not in direct contact with skin eg. cardis, whenever mucky - prob once a week. Washing machine is on most days as there are 4 of us.

My washing machine is on daily as well, but I don't wash everything I have worn once. Underwear, socks, t-shirts yes, but sweaters, skirts, jeans etc are certainly worn more than once.
I rarely wear the same clothes on consecutive days, so not sure really how many wears I get out of a pair of jeans for example. Now that I think about it, some work suits haven't been cleaned for ages, but I shower often and they certainly don't smell.

Bedding and towels - once a week
Undies and tops - after each wear
Bras - after two wears in winter, one in summer
Jeans and trousers - after about three wears
Jumpers not worn next to skin - after two or three wears
Cardigans - after several wears
Dry clean skirts and jackets - rarely

Daily for everything that touches the skin. Maybe two or three days for cardigans or jumpers, or something that I've only had on for a few hours ( outfit for going out in the evening for example) or jeans. Trousers daily.
Bedding and towels weekly on a boil wash.
I never put clothes I've worn back in the wardrobe.

Pants, socks and tops after 1 wear. Jeans and leggings more - 4 wears at least. Jumpers and cardigans maybe 2 wears. Sheets and towels once a week.

I wash clothes when they are dirty.

knickers daily
socks - sometimes I make them do two days, as they are bamboo and don't smell
DS school shirts- daily - they honk
DS school trousers - once a week (unless they are visibly dirty)

Most items are okay to wear more than once. Particularly if only worn for a few hours.

Bedding - about once a week (when I can be bothered)
towels - after a few days (when they smell like they need it!)

Exercise wear - every time!

Bedding every 2 weeks or a month... eek!
towels once a week.
gym wear every time.
bras every 2-3 wears.
undies - after each wear includes socks, tights etc.
vests - depends if dirty/smell etc
leggings etc leave about 2-3 wears
jeans/tops etc - when they look/smell etc dirty
anything else as and when hate dry cleaning but do it if need be.

I had same conversation with a friend who washes everyday and she washes everything even if it's been worn once or just a few hours. I only wear underwear once... Although bras don't get washed after just one wear! Is that minging?!
Jeans would get about 3 wears.
Bedding - week to 10 days
Towels weekly, hand towels changed more frequently.
I think children's clothes look tatty really quickly if they are washed and tumble dried too often (they of course need to be washed if smelly or dirty!). I'm blessed with a DD who likes staying quite clean and avoids mud/dirt etc.

i think I will wash bedding more often.

who does not wash pants/knickers after ONE wear?! please tell me if there's someone or someone you know. even if I stay overnight unplanned somewhere I rush like a demon into H&M/TK Maxx etc and buy spare socks and knickers - cheapies can't stand to wear ones I've worn 2nd day!

Love - bras can be worn 2-3 days easy and you're supposed to handwash (I wash one that way rest no) as machine washing ruins them gradually.

but then they say to replace bras every 6 months I think - are they MAD?!

Helloboys I might be a scruff and wear my clothes over and over again but I always wear fresh underwear and the dirty stuff is washed after each wear!
