How often do you wash your clothes?

I ask as my friend recently commented that my washing machine is always on (which it is) and asked what I am washing all the time....

Bedding and towels once a week

and clothes every day of course.....

She asked how often and I was slightly aghast.... We all wear a fully clean outfit every day. I sometimes wear a cardie or jumper for 2 days but everything else is changed daily.
She wears jeans for a couple of weeks and tops 2/3 times before washing.
And most clothes get ironed.

Is she a scuzz bucket or am I OTT???

One - of course... Smile

i think it's bad for environment and clothes to wash after EVERY wear but then I'm not a mum with kids... I think I'd be mad about washing loads then. Grin

I think she is scuzzy and you are a tiny bit OTT!

I wash tops, blouses, underwear, tights, socks, pjs and sports kit after one wear.

I wash cardigans and jumpers (assuming I've worn a top underneath) every 2-3 wears, depending on what I've done in them and how long they've been on for - ie a full days wear would mean they were washed more quickly than in spring/summer where they were thrown on in the evening.

Jeans, trousers, skirts and dresses I wash every 2-3 wears too, more often if it is a summer dress worn without anything underneath.

Blazers, suits, coats and 'fancy' dresses go to the dry cleaners approximately every 3 months.

Bedding gets changed once a week, towels twice a week. All boil washed.

Same for my DDs and DH.

Sniff test on jeans/trousers - same with jumpers/cardies as I always wear a long sleeved tee underneath - everything else after one wear.

Coats/anoraks - once a year dry clean.

Kids clothes washed every time they wear
Underwear, leggings and Teeshirts every time they are worn
All sports kit every time they are worn

Jeans, jumpers, jammies and school uniform washed after every 2nd wear or before if dirty

Towels every 2nd use and bedding every fortnight sheets every week

Coats, hats and scarfs probably every 4 weeks

If something is smelly then I wash it obviously. If it's got a mark (ds's school sweatshirts for eg) then I'll sponge clean if possible.

I can wear most of my clothes more than once. Dh needs new tops most days and ds1 needs new bottoms most days. Ds2 likes to spread his food around so his clothes are rarely salvageable.

Dh shirts & dc clothes worn once. Fresh shirts & polo shirts daily for school & work. I try to sponge clean school jumpers or sweatshirts to get 2 days from them.
Dh suits need dry cleaned so they are worn for longer obviously.
For other things it depends entirely on the fabric. Cotton tops, gym wear etc all get washed after one wear. Jeans after 2 or 3 wears. But I definitely don't wash delicate items or woolens too often if I can help it. Again my skrts, dresses, trousers get spot cleaned and quite a few dry cleaned or handwashed.
Washing ruins clothes, so the more expensive the item, the less it gets washed.
