Exciting jeans discovery. Had to share.

So, for the past 20 odd years I've bought jeans from the same old places.

At 41 and a size 12/14 I find topshop jeans are too tight and low cut on the waist although I live in its Cory jeans, which I don't think they make anymore. H&M jeans are horrendous on me and French Connection's sizes vary so wildly I gave up on its jeans years ago.

Last week I popped into Next to get some kids clothes and spotted a pair of dark blue denial skinny jeans. Had no hope they'd look ok as I never buy clothes for myself from there as I find the range too frumpy. So guess what? Not only do they fit like a dream, they've magically slimmed my hips and thighs down and what's more, they were just £20!

So impressed, I've just bought another pair.

Bloody hell Sally I've just bought two pairs! Hmm Grin

Love the name btw.

I have the Next Sexy high waist skinnies and they are fab. They fit perfectly, look great and don't stretch and fall down. I really must get another pair, before they stop doing them!

scarlet76 · 09/02/2014 22:25

Next is great for inexpensive jeans.
Have 2 pairs of the relaxed skinnys. The are better rolled to a 7/8 length. Good with flat leather sandals in the summer. Wearing now with ankle boots.
Have also just purchased a pair called everyday taper. Again prefer rolled. They are more of a relaxed fit. Great with a breton and sneakers.
Do Next still do the high waist ones? Quite fancy some.

I have the high waist bootleg and the slim jeans- I like the slim ones as they don't feel as tight as skinny jeans. I did buy bigger sizes as nothing fit me post partum and I had stopped wearing my maternity clothes. I have always liked Next Jeans. I'm between sizes now. I have got the tapered chinos in blue and beige- they are a bit tight on the thigh but that might have more to do with my shape rather than the trousers themselves!

I am now sitting here wearing the skinny jeans the OP posted. They are fab, really love them and it's been a loooong search for me for the right pair. Nice fit and not too low in the waist, nice amount of stretch without going baggy. Kudos to next for the fast delivery too, ordered at 9pm last night.

Tammylucy · 12/02/2014 18:35

I have just ordered a pair! I can't wait to receive them tomorrow. I did try them on last week and I really liked them but they didn't have any black ones. Thanks for reminding me, I only bought them because I have seen your post. xx

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 12/02/2014 19:51

I am positively evangelical about the next highwaisted jeans, I have the skinny and the slim. I also have the £45 lift and shape ones which are good 'going out' jeans as you want to stay upright in them they are so snug!!
I didn't like the everyday jeans on me.

ThatVikRinA22 · 12/02/2014 19:56

i got the skinny high waisted dark denim ones a while ago and keep them for going out - they look smart due to colour, high waist means no muffin top, they are confortable and i like them, for £20 you cant really go wrong.

i live in super skinny dotty perkins jeans but they are a pain in the arse for falling down and they are low waisted - means im forever hoiking em up.

might have a look at next again to see if they do a super skinny....

pinkyplonk · 12/02/2014 20:39

Just went to Next online to buy some high waist skinny jeans thanks to an email MNHQ sent me about this thread. Had to register in order to buy, and then they tell you that they will do a credit check on you , even if you don't want credit, before you can buy anything. And this will be visible to other lenders if they decide they can't give you credit, EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT credit. This is crazy and unfair. We have been refused loans recently, even though I don't know why as we have no other loans and are up to date with all other payments, and why should Next want to refuse me credit if I don't even want it, and all I want to do is buy some jeans? So won't be buying them unfortunately.

practicalmum · 12/02/2014 22:30

What size did you order?

Sallycinnamum · 13/02/2014 12:51

Ooh blimey, didn't realise this thread had ended up as a 'mumsnet swears by' email.

Think word has got around in Essex as tried to get another pair in store yesterday and there were none to be found!

lubey, glad you're happy with them. They're not going to suit all body shapes but at £20 you can't go wrong (unlike my blue M&S jeggings, which faded after two washes).

I like Next jeans up to a point but find they stretch and slip down quite quickly (i.e. between washes). My new amazing discovery after years of having this problem and or the rise being too low is Banana Republic Skinny. I do 'Ankle Skimmers' version as I'm about 5 foot 3/4 . The rise is perfect not too low. I get tons of compliments e.g. 'have you lost weight?" whenever I wear them. Bought first pair last summer, another this month and will buy more more more! Do in various washes/colours/patterns.

Hopasholic · 13/02/2014 17:09

I ordered a pair of the relaxed skinnys and they're great! Especially as thanks to their vanity sizing I'm in a size 8 Smile. This time last year I was a size 16 so well chuffed with that! They're really comfy, a little bit too low on the waist would be my only criticism, but a great price! Next time I might try the higher waisted ones.
