Exciting jeans discovery. Had to share.

So, for the past 20 odd years I've bought jeans from the same old places.

At 41 and a size 12/14 I find topshop jeans are too tight and low cut on the waist although I live in its Cory jeans, which I don't think they make anymore. H&M jeans are horrendous on me and French Connection's sizes vary so wildly I gave up on its jeans years ago.

Last week I popped into Next to get some kids clothes and spotted a pair of dark blue denial skinny jeans. Had no hope they'd look ok as I never buy clothes for myself from there as I find the range too frumpy. So guess what? Not only do they fit like a dream, they've magically slimmed my hips and thighs down and what's more, they were just £20!

So impressed, I've just bought another pair.

Yep I love Next jeans - the high waisted ones with 2 buttons are great for removing the muffin top Wink

southeastastra · 08/02/2014 20:25

next jeans are shite on me and the uniqlo ones fit weirdy but the quality in uniqlo is really good (well the jeans i had) i think you find a brand you like and they cut to fit you. i live in zara jeans

PrimalLass · 08/02/2014 21:19

Next relaxed skinniest are the best (cheap) jeans ever. I am going to buy pair #4 this week.

Sallycinnamum · 08/02/2014 21:50

I'd never have thought to try next for jeans but they're definitely worth a go. Oh and they also wash well too.

MrsOakenshield Have you tried the Gap High Rise Skinnies?

holycowwhatnow · 09/02/2014 09:35

Sallycinnamum, what size did you go for? I'm also a 12-14, but more 14 than 12 probably, so wondered did you go up or down in size? I hate to wear anything too tight but it makes me make mistakes buying jeans because within an hour of wearing them, most jeans seem to 'grow.'

TarteAuxRiz · 09/02/2014 09:37

Sorrel I live in. The ago high rise but they have bloody stopped doing them! (Sob)

TarteAuxRiz · 09/02/2014 09:39

Oh my, just looked and they are back in stock! Woo hoo!

SorrelForbes · 09/02/2014 09:40

The black ones have been on line since about November but there's no sign in store. I've just ordered the dark blue pair in petite as they don't normally come in a choice of lengths. The regular are just a few cms too long but I've a feeling the petite might be too short. Worth a try though as I had 20% off.

TarteAuxRiz · 09/02/2014 10:21

Sorrel, do you happen to have a code for that 20% off. These are the only jeans I wear so I'm going to order a couple of pairs!

TarteAuxRiz · 09/02/2014 10:21

I ordered the black, they were waaaay tighter than the blue! (It wasn't the extra Jaffa cakes!!)

SorrelForbes · 09/02/2014 10:29

Yep, try RENEWGAP.

Oh yes, the black are snugger. This is true for most black clothes, including bras. Something to do with the dye.

Sallycinnamum · 09/02/2014 10:40

holycow, I went for the 14 and they're a good fit. No bagging and they seem to keep their shape well even after a few wears.

Next skinnies start off great but then tbey start to slip down so you have to wear a belt - which adds to my apple shape/ mum tum Hmm

Cocolepew · 09/02/2014 11:24

The Next relaxed skinnies are great, though I prefer to wear them turned up, so wear the when its warm enough to go without socks. So 3 days a year then Grin.
They are so comfortable..

brass · 09/02/2014 11:30

I like the Gap jeggings, they look and feel like normal denim but have plenty of stretch, slightly higher waist so holds muffin top in and the perfect mid blue with no overly faded ugly patches.

spookyskeleton · 09/02/2014 13:55

I like the look of the relaxed skinnies but what do you wear on your feet with them? The model has heels on but that isn't practical during the day.

TarteAuxRiz · 09/02/2014 14:09

Thanks sorrel! off to try that now.

TarteAuxRiz · 09/02/2014 14:16

That one didn't work Sorrel, but I looked online and if you type in GRAZIA you get. 30% off, :)

holycowwhatnow · 09/02/2014 15:31

Thx Sallycinnamum, will give them a try. Unfortuately my code for €15 off my first internet purchase is out of date

starballbunny · 09/02/2014 15:41

DD1(16) and me both have had various Next jeans over the years.

They actually cut their clothes for woman's figures with HIPs!

madammecholet · 09/02/2014 16:13

Oh great, just ordered a pair ;)

LizzieVereker · 09/02/2014 17:36

Thank you for sharing your jeans and height info, Sally, I've ordered some. Thanks

Sallycinnamum · 09/02/2014 19:25

lizzievereker, I hope you like them! By the way, love the name. God love jilly cooper.

just come back to this - I've tried Gap skinnies and they're just not that skinny (on me, at any rate).

I think I was in G Star one time and a guy who worked there did say that Topshop was the place for properly skinny jeans.

(black things being tighter is because of the dye, a woman in Bravissimo told me that!)
