Good morning all.
There's a brilliant Hadley Freeman article in the Guardian today about how NOT to mark a celebrity death and here is the 'fashion' excerpt-
Go home fashion, this isn't about you
"Here is when fashion labels should send out press releases announcing that celebrities are wearing their clothes: awards nights, parties, premieres. Here is when they shouldn't: at funerals. Valentino sent out an email announcing which celeb had worn the brand at the funeral and Ugg let it be known that they had "gifted" the mourners with boots "in the hope" they would wear them (Valentino has since apologised). In truth, designers have done this before: I was sent press releases about who wore what to Thatcher's funeral and Vivienne Westwood's son Ben let it be known that he was available for interviews when Malcolm McLaren died. But because this was in relation to Hoffman – who probably wouldn't have known a fashion PR from a hole in the head, and all credit to him – the grossness was emphasised. Stop it, fashion"
The whole article can be read here.
Hadley is so much better than Moran, Coren, Rifkind and Long and her fashion writing is the most intelligent. Am so tired of Moran's breathless shouting and CAPS LOCK obsession every SECOND word.
Glad you liked the suggestions Blair. I was reading the new magazine 'Porter' in bed last night (instead of sleeping as I intended) and they had a gorgeous pale tangerine over a sliver of china blue underskirt. And I thought to myself "remember to tell Blair that". So have an experiment with some of the shades of ornage that'll be hopefully everywhere soon- Seville, tangerine, melon and that dark dark orange you see in Italy and Morocco a lot.
Turq Your suggestions are lovely - the sound of a chiffon tank in warmer weather or several layered together is beautiful. Cobalt over paler shades or cobalt over a grey - pretty.
