Am I alone in really disliking animal print?

I really, really dislike it. I'm happy to see it on others but I just can't see myself in it. I got given a lovely Lola Rose scarf for my birthday but it's an animal print design so I'll never wear it.

I like it sometimes, it can look wonderful in a retro way but often is done badly nowadays. I am Hmm at people who judge others for wearing it - it's a piece of fucking clothing, not a lifestyle decision.

LittleBabyPigsus · 24/01/2014 14:59

Fwiw I generally don't like zebra or tiger print, prefer snake print to leopard print. I luffs skull print though and not a single shit is given.

GiniCooper · 24/01/2014 15:08

I hate it.
SIL loves it. ( we don't see eye to eye really) she gave DD1 a cardigan in leopard print. A CHILD. shudder.
She would also be of the tutu skirts as day wear for the children persuasion.

AGoodPirate · 24/01/2014 15:09

I think animal print looks tacky. Always. Also fake fur.

LittleBabyPigsus · 24/01/2014 15:11

I would like animal print more if the kind used in plus sized clothes wasn't so shit.

ToysRLuv · 24/01/2014 15:19

Little: That link.. fucking hell! Confused

BettyBotter · 24/01/2014 15:31

Oh thank God! I thought I was the only one in the world who secretly loathes all animal print. I thought I was just weirdly out of touch with the world, but now I know that there are many other weirdos just like me. Smile

I know somone with a zebra print sofa. Why would anyone think that something like a dead stripey horse in the corner of a living room is a good look?

escargot · 24/01/2014 15:40

betty you're in good company here Grin

I'll join the club! I really dislike animal prints, I think they look cheap on most people. I've never told anyone before though, I know I tend to dress quite simply boring. I prefer bold colours instead of patterns, thinking about it now I've got very few clothes with patterned fabric.

LittleBabyPigsus · 24/01/2014 16:00

I dare the naysayers to call Jackie O or Audrey tacky Grin

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 24/01/2014 17:05

Na, still tacky. Even those beautiful women would look better without the print!!

NinjaPenguin · 24/01/2014 17:20

I hate animal print. Especially the OTT fake leopard styles, or zebra style. Looks all wrong to me.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 24/01/2014 17:24

No I hate it. Have always thought it looks tacky. My DM bought me a pair of fleecy leopard print PJs a couple of years ago. I think they look awful but otoh they are so cosy (and the only pyjamas that fit me in my current whale-like 37 week pregnant state) that I have resorted to wearing them, but would never wear animal print where other people could see me!

MissBetseyTrotwood · 24/01/2014 17:25

I love it. DH hates it though. He says it makes me look unhinged.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 24/01/2014 17:26

But leopard print only. Nothing else is right.

I love the tackiness!

TheFallenMadonna · 24/01/2014 17:27

I used to hate it, but since I've turned 40 I've embraced my inner Bet Lynch and have a bit of a thing for it.

fussychica · 24/01/2014 17:34

No hate it, would never buy anything like that but I'm old & boring

Orangeanddemons · 24/01/2014 17:46

Me too, I hate it. I particularly hate children in it.

I can just tolerate zebra and cow, but loathe the rest. They just look cheap.

I also hate twee animal prints. Sick of little dogs/horses/birds. Hate skulls too

escargot · 24/01/2014 17:49

Music to my ears! La la la la la la cheap, cheap Grin

Animal print is bad - really baaaaaad. Screams black silk sheets and mirrors on the ceiling. Anyone who thinks they look good in leopard skin should think again - they actually look like this

Am I alone in really disliking animal print?
escargot · 24/01/2014 17:57

Oooer [hmmm] that's a very good reason, in fact the only reason we need to send animal print to Room 101. Bwahahahahaha poor old Rod.

miffybun73 · 24/01/2014 17:59

No, I hate it and will never wear it.

tilliebob · 24/01/2014 18:01

God I love this site, there's Sporners here and now I find a thread for people who also detest animal print. I bloody HATE it with a passion!

Yuck yuck yuck. Never liked it, never will. Re-inforced by a recent boss who wore leopard AND zebra AND some other poor animal print AT THE SAME TIME. Including print effect nails. Gave me a fecking migraine and she looked bloody awful

escargot · 24/01/2014 18:03

Welcome miffy, Tillie and others - you're safe here Grin

I used to hate animal print but I've softened to it lately.

I don't own very much in 'classic' animal print (I've got a pair of flats with a small amount of classic leopard print, I think that's it). But I've got quite a few animal-inspired prints.

As I type I'm wearing a pair of black trousers with a splotchy white/grey pattern which is sort of animal print.

In fact here they are. Asos says they're "floral camo" actually so what do I know:
