Am I alone in really disliking animal print?

I really, really dislike it. I'm happy to see it on others but I just can't see myself in it. I got given a lovely Lola Rose scarf for my birthday but it's an animal print design so I'll never wear it.

Its dreadful, reminds me of the woman in the bed on the big breakfast. Cheap and nasty, even just accessories.

Twinklestein · 23/01/2014 18:20

I like a very subtle leopard print or snake print - not many that pass the test but I do like some. But I hate zebra, cow print, and anything with animals on.

plum100 · 23/01/2014 18:30

I do
Look 80 if that helps

ShreddedHoops · 23/01/2014 20:52

I have two leopard print scarves - one browns, one teal/navy; one snakeskin scarf, two navy/black Dalmatian print dresses (one day, one party), snakeskin flats and leopard flats.

So, er, not my thread then Grin Am a by shocked at the genuine judginess of losing someone's respect for wearing it though, eek!

ShreddedHoops · 23/01/2014 20:53

Oh and I'm only 31!

Mabelface · 23/01/2014 20:56

I really don't like it at all.

gastrognome · 23/01/2014 21:10

Is this a good time to admit that I don't like skull print either? Makes me feel a bit ill.

permaquandry · 23/01/2014 21:25

I luffs it, though only stick to one print per outfit leopard print pants on outside plain leggings etc

newgirl · 23/01/2014 21:38

on a really really cool vintage-style wearing person it looks great - on me it would look dreadful

MissPryde · 23/01/2014 21:43

I have never owned one bit of animal print. I dislike it so.

I had a horrible cow roommate at uni who LOVED animal prints, especially a zebra print paired with the most lurid shade of hot pink. She put up a shower curtain in this combination in our shared bathroom. Every morning, I considered sharpening my toothbrush into a shiv to start slashing at it.

carlywurly · 23/01/2014 21:45

Totally with the antis. I have an almost physical reaction to it. Odd.

Scarletohello · 23/01/2014 21:49

My ex gave me some leopard print leggings. Never worn them. Tacky!

Do have a beautiful fake fur snow leopard coat tho...

littlebillie · 23/01/2014 21:53

I bought a lovely animal print cardigan and when I put it on it looked like trying too hard and made me look old

Twinklestein · 23/01/2014 22:26

I hate skull prints too gastrognome.

polyhymnia · 23/01/2014 22:28

I like it a lot as long as it's classy (eg I have a lovely L K Bennett scarf in dark navy and teal and another by Lily and Lionel). Don't like bright orange or yellow versions.

Love snake print - again in subtle greys and taupes.

But hate skull prints - never did like them and now they really have been done to death!

ToysRLuv · 23/01/2014 22:35

This is pretty much the only way I'd wear it. Maybe. But I'm not PJ Harvey Sad

ToysRLuv · 23/01/2014 22:37

I think I'd wear it ironically like most of the stuff I wear

AnnieLobeseder · 23/01/2014 22:39

I hate animal prints. They are just nasty, tacky and completely without class. And this from someone who loves Crocs.

When I found out the Mumsnet Scarf was a leopard print monstrosity I died a little inside.

Catypillar · 23/01/2014 22:51

I'm so happy to see this thread! I really don't like it either- on me anyway, I don't care what other people wear.

boogiewoogie · 23/01/2014 22:54

I have yet to see anyone in RL look decent in animal print.

I think the one that made me shudder was a woman wearing a leopard print onesie with Uggs and one of those bear ears hats.

polyhymnia · 23/01/2014 22:56

Think there's a huge difference between wearing it all over and on subtle accessories.

escargot · 24/01/2014 10:14

Wow! I feel thoroughly vindicated in bringing up the subject seeing all these new posters! Grin

I hate skull prints too. Ick.

Sorry - but I luffs it - but only if it is tastefully done. Don't like the ott versions of it. I noticed Zara have crocodile pattern trousers in their range - now that's not something you see every day.

PrimalLass · 24/01/2014 12:31

I love it in small doses.

I assume the Mumsnet scarf is the rip-off LV one? I had that before I was on Mumsnet so I am just guessing. It is very flattering colour-wise for me, and goes with lots, if you wear black or grey with tan shoes/bag. I haven't worn it this winter however.
