Am I alone in really disliking animal print?

I really, really dislike it. I'm happy to see it on others but I just can't see myself in it. I got given a lovely Lola Rose scarf for my birthday but it's an animal print design so I'll never wear it.

No, it was me, Plum.

Hoppinggreen · 25/01/2014 09:33

Boden do leopard print - it can't be trashy!!!

buttercrumble · 25/01/2014 10:00

Ooh I love leopard print , same as above I class as a neutral it goes with lots of things. Looks great with a breton top Grin

Galaxymum · 25/01/2014 10:59

I knew I was right in always thinking it looked trashy when MIL said she got a classy leopard print top from Next.

Oh dear it did bring out my bitchiness. But it reminds me of Bianca in Eastenders

AmberNectarine · 25/01/2014 11:02

So, not really at all then? Hmm

Mrsap · 25/01/2014 11:18

I love the idea of getting rid of all my non animal print clothing. Brilliant. Grin

MissBeehiving · 25/01/2014 11:20

Love LP and other animal prints

MadeMan · 25/01/2014 15:16

I quite like animal print on women; Kat in Eastenders wouldn't be the same without it. Smile

pinkon · 25/01/2014 17:14

LOATHE! It's cheap and vile looking

wetaugust · 25/01/2014 17:18

May I offer you these photos I took in the Zebra bar on the MSC Poesia.

Zebra print walls, carpets, furniture lamps etc.

You do actually feel quite disorientated when you walk through it.

I think it looks tacky and try-hard.

SinglePringle · 25/01/2014 18:30

Then, newyear, you've not seen it worn well.

Migsy1 · 25/01/2014 19:08

I'll wear it on a scarf but anything else is too Bet Lynch

MmeGuillotine · 25/01/2014 19:59

I LOVE leopard print. I'm an alternative dresser and it's just part of the overall look for me - I have leopard print coats and some ace vintage styled dresses from Collectif and Vivien of Holloway. I don't like any other sort of animal print though! I don't really care if the general consensus is that I look trashy, cheap or vulgar as I dress for myself, not other people. :)

I have a thing for skull and cross bone prints too but don't like the more generic skull patterns about the place.

Lioninthesun · 25/01/2014 22:17

I went into a carpet shop the other day. I noticed a leopard print square on the side and picked it up - at this point the owner informs me that it is very 'on trend' and that both the leopard and Zebra print next to it are now frequently being asked for stairs and bedrooms. They cost about three times what I was looking to spend, sadly Grin

madmomma · 26/01/2014 07:48

I have leopard print capris.
I look like a fat Lesley Joseph in them.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2014 07:58

My DD (2.6) had on a little leopard print twinset (top and cardi) yesterday - you'd all have been so proud :)

Eliza22 · 26/01/2014 11:28

Blousey Barmaids circa 1975. That's what animal print says to me.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2014 14:57

And what, pray, is wrong with that look? Wink

escargot · 26/01/2014 16:05

I'm glad you're not my Mum amber She made me wear a ed crimplene trouser suit Shock

I still think animal print is a cheap and tacky look. The pics of Bardot, Jackie and Grace from the 60's were more than likely real furs. The reason they looked gorgeous was because they weren't print but real.

Animal print is just plain nasty and tasteless to boot!

Ner, ner, ner, ner, ner.

MUSTARD.

Eliza22 · 26/01/2014 18:45

Erm, not for me Amber but then! you'd probably not like what I like to wear. I will never wear animal print.

MarshaBrady · 26/01/2014 19:27

So op, I take it you'll be buying this outfit Grin

BanoffeeSplitz · 26/01/2014 22:24

Hmm - don't mind leopard if it's worn vintage style, like a big coat.
Not keen on fussy little bits of yellow / brown leopard (shoes, scarves, bits of bra, anything with a bow or velvet trim) - makes me think of Theresa May.
