Greetings from the Danish Capital.
We have snow, not that prevents the locals riding their bikes, gel seats or no( complete with little carriages on the back for their kids) It is v cold obv and the sea is satisfyingly frozen. Taking dh out for his birthday tonight to a trendy eaterie. I hasten to add it's not Noma , although we did press our noses against the glass of it at lunchtime to inspect the well-heeled scandis eating lichen or whateverWink
I am a bit Blush to say we went a bit mad in Tiger buying up £1 objets for dd. We don't have it in NI. Blush
may indulge in a little Tuborg laterGrin

beachyhead · 01/02/2014 18:06

Just back from a mahoosive walk with dh, dd2 and ds1. I'd mapped it out (because that's a weird hobby of mine, to map things out!) and I think its fair to say it was longer than I had anticipated... dd2, who is 8, was pretty grumpy and knackered by the time we reached the pub. Chips and J2O seemed to suffice.

I too have a lady bike with soft, comfy saddle, which I ride not very far and not very fast either!

Good luck for Monday, Herbs. Will this be something he has to have done on a regular basis?

CV, your children must go to school with a very good friends of mine children. She lives just the non-school side of the vineyard and has girls in Year 12 and Year 9.... On the gift question, I guess English biscuits always go down well (and tea, maybe, to be totally predictable!)

lalsy · 01/02/2014 18:20

BTM - we put our bikes on the train sometimes (our car is an occasionally mobile shed/mouse residence/money drain, no room for a bike carrier), is quite good in South London as lots of small, calmish stations. You can't count on getting lots of people on the same train though.

Crem, that sounds fab!

If the evening goes to plan, I am about to have a martini and thrash my menfolk at Risk. Suspect it may not.

motherinferior · 01/02/2014 18:34

Crem, have you spotted any murders/religious nutters yet? I love a bit of Scandi-crime...

Love the idea of taking sausage to Germany - maybe even haggis, as I'm Scots ('mighty führer of the sausage people').

herbaceous · 01/02/2014 19:21

I'm off out shortly with one of my new school mum friends. Bit nervous, as might not know anyone else, but shall forge on with networking. Thinking new Reiss jumper and new gold Zara necklace. And jeans. Let's not go mad. And, natch, parka.

Blackduck · 01/02/2014 19:28

Voice, wine, takeaway. The Bridge later.

wilbur · 01/02/2014 19:43

Ooh, I like that necklace Herbs. I am in need of some new necklacey things, as I wear them for work to give the impression of having "pulled my outfit together" as opposed to having just pulled it out of the depths of my cupboard. I would love to get this but really can't justify it, even in the sale (paying taxes last week was painful due to failing to deregister from Child Benefit in time and having to pay a load back). And I have a lot of grey/black accessories already.

Dh is off on one of his movie extra jaunts tomorrow afternoon. Just need to remember to get him to sort kids out for school so that I don't need to do it all on my won tomorrow evening.

cremolafoam · 01/02/2014 22:05

Mi
We are right opposite the Politi station featured in The Bridge
And have seen The Actual Borgen
Keeping a keen eye out for sarah Lund style sweaters.... Not difficultGrin
We were in a pub earlier and the whole bar started singing the Danish entry to Eurovision this year( 96 days to go according to big signs all over copenhagen todayGrinGrinGrin)

bigTillyMint · 01/02/2014 22:19

Yes, I like the necklace too - outfit sounds just right Herbs.

Cremo, Copenhagen sounds fabEnvy!

DD and her mates announced that they were going to cook themselves dinner and went out to the shops. Hours later they returned with several Iceland bags and put on loud music in the kitchen as they cooked and ate. When I crashed the party later, I found a pan caked in noodles and several left-over party food type things. Healthy eating thenGrin

Might have a jaunt to Stratford Westfield tomorrow...

CointreauVersial · 01/02/2014 23:26

Love the necklace, Herbs. "Statement" but not too glittery.

Beachy - yes, probably is the same school. DS is in Y9.

Crem - I'm Envy about Copenhagen; somewhere I've always fancied visiting. DH has been a couple of times on business and says it's lovely, but the last time I went to Denmark was in 1970, and my only memory is drinking buttermilk and spitting it straight out again. Grin Frozen sea, eh? Coooool.

I am wearing a pedometer as part of this Vitality thing, and it is reading an utterly slothful 580 steps so far today. Blush I may have to go for a run tomorrow to redeem myself.

Rudy we need more info!

Cremo I am Envy at Copenhagen - dp wants to eat at Noms for his birthday. I have a friend whose sister works out there and she pops over regularly.
Watch last two of The Bridge - Saga crying, who'd have thought it.,.,

motherinferior · 02/02/2014 10:07

Am owner of teenager.

(Non Date Boy dropped card and present through door while she was whooping it up with her mates over pizza Wink)

herbaceous · 02/02/2014 10:19

I also have a teenager, but he's only four. Broke the news of impending hospital visit, and he was pretty sanguine about it. Said once more that he didn't want the 'special bleed thing' (the cannula) so hopefully we can do without it.

Something of a hangover, yet again. Drinks last night were in one of those late license pubs, where you keep wondering why they haven't called time, and why you're so drunk, and then realise it's 12.30. Staggered home, then DS woke me up at 6.45. Now have to drive to inlaws. Gnnn....

Crazy Topshop mittens got lots of attention, one man rubbing them all over his face and saying they were as soft as his cat.

QueenQueenie · 02/02/2014 10:47

Eeek Herbs, are you sure it wasn't George Galloway?
You must be very relieved mini Herb has been so accepting. Hope all goes OK for you tomorrow.
Rudy, more details!
MI, that sounds both sweet and keen of non date boy. Hapy belated birthday to your dd.
Saturday night here was The Bridge finale. Fantastic. Feel very sadly bereft that it's finished. Today is boring food shopping, dog walking, going to see the new Coen brothers film with ds1 and trekking to a fundraising meeting this evening (which is dull but gets me out of cooking supper / ferrying ds to swim practice, any other Sunday night shenanigans so not all bad).

herbaceous · 02/02/2014 11:08

Oh, and once again my sainsburys scarf with butterflies won kudos. One woman, in fact my new BFF who I talked to all night, thought it was Stella McCartney!

bigTillyMint · 02/02/2014 11:41

Out ur way Herbs - Stratford Westfield!
Eeeek at George Galloway!
Happy Birthday to your teen MI. DD and her bezzies were decimating the kitchen again as I left...

bigTillyMint · 02/02/2014 13:07

Coz you're good fun Ruby, and maybe they needed someone who would be happy to swing round a pole?Wink

Yes good luck to miniHerbs and you Herbs - must be traumatic for both of you.

DS's team have just won their match - went to penalties, so quite nerve-wracking. So glad I didn't go!

Got an S&B bargain - first purchases ever from Cos (what is it with their sizing? The stuff is huuuuge - I am so happy to say I am a small or even extrasmall in there!) - a brown felted jumper dress reduced by 70% and a lovely pullie for DH reduced by 50%!

Blackduck · 02/02/2014 17:03

Good luck tomorrow Herbs - will be thinking of you and crossing everything.

MrsS - getting in early (unlike For Stropps when i was late) - happy birthday for Tuesday!!

addle · 02/02/2014 17:06
