Have mended and knotted seam with help of borrowed sewing kit; am refraining from checking all the seams in too much detail....

But exactly how tall is he, Crem? Grin LOL at "you can see the joins."

I usually hate Sundays, but I had a fabulous start to the day - a posh breakfast with two of my Paris friends who are in town (one has just moved to London - yay!). Now cooking a roast, before DD2 heads back to school.

And I have taken the plunge and booked a Waitrose online shop for next week.

And I think I will now have a nice glass of wine. Grin

herbaceous · 26/01/2014 16:23

Crikey. Feeling a bit ropey today. Went to a 40th birthday party last night, where much champagne was consumed. Stayed overnight, and didn't go to bed until 3. There were some bad casualties at breakfast this morning.

Great do, tho. Caterer, and everything. The waitress wound up staying at the party, getting legless, dancing on the table with everyone and leaving at 4.30.

Hideous drive back, quite possibly still over the limit.

motherinferior · 26/01/2014 17:17

Herbs, you go to all the best partiesEnvy

I have returned homeGrin

Go herbs you goer- you! Lol @ waitress. In my catering days a few of my jobs ended similarlyBlush

Mrs S I'd say a short arse. Grin

I have been to a crafty workshop with my niece. We made a pair of jeans into a groovy skirt. I did sewing and dn went bonkers with a glue gun. Much fun was had by all. I liked being creative again.

Now a hectic week to look forward to.
Back to proper work ( no piddling about catching up with emails) and then Wunderbar Køpenhaven on Friday ! I am hoping my general feeling of Weltschmerz will be banished Wink

beachyhead · 26/01/2014 18:14

I think it was my exclamation of 'Ah, the crepey skirt!' which made my dd1 wince. It felt very good, stretchy, not scratchy and only a sprinkling of gold dust on my hands afterwards.... I would like to send apologies to addle, as she probably rues the day she wore her skirt to the meet up as it has now been fully adopted as 'crepey uniform'.Grin

I'm slightly in the Mrs S camp on SC Angry must be the power thing! Certainly not the Cuban heels.

I've bought trackies from Tesco's for dog walking. Does that count for style and beauty!!!

bigTillyMint · 26/01/2014 18:28

Cremo, why does that not surprise me?Grin
Envy at crafty workshop - DD is really good at her art textiles stuff, but it does not extend to attending crafty workshops with me!
And even more Envy at Copenhagen - I would LOVE to go there.

I suffered no hangover from the party we went to yesterday, despite copious amounts of prosecco and karaoke. No dancing on the tables though (doubt they could take my weight!)

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/01/2014 18:56

Oh I bought some jeans on Saturday, but they are from M & S, so am sure that is not "style". Grin Got a size smaller and am hopeful that these might stay up. True to my usual trick of buying the largest tights they have, I got some extra large tights in BHS which are so large that I can pull them right up over my bra to my shoulders. I am wondering who they would actually fit, as they legs are hugely long as well (and I have long legs).

M & S at Marble Arch have all of their Lynn Harris perfumes reduced, so I bought myself a bottle of the Eau de Cologne. They also had a load of other perfume half price, but nothing that grabbed me.

herbaceous · 26/01/2014 19:14

I do tend to go to excellent parties, it's true. Bodes well for my 50th in years' time.

Auriga · 26/01/2014 19:47

Back from t'North with DM. Hideous journey both ways. At one point yesterday I was driving in a dramatic thunderstorm when a white wall appeared in front of me and I had to drive into it. It was hail. Visibility was about 5m. Luckily I could just see a lay by (because there was a huge lorry in it, all lit up) and managed to drive in and stop till it was safe again.

Burns supper was fun, great haggis, some poetry and DH and I sang 'Oh wert thou in the cauld blast', which DM used to sing with her brother .

herbaceous · 26/01/2014 20:55

That sounds a v scary drive Auriga. Mine was merely a long traffic jam due to a broken down bus on the A2 at Kidbrooke. Slightly less dramatic.

But I was struck, once again, as everyone hared round the M25 in the rain that its amazing how few accidents there actually are. All in our little boxes, on slippery roads, only separated by a nominal white line.

Blackduck · 26/01/2014 21:47

We went to pick ds up yesterday and in a 5 minypute walk were soaked to the skin... Hail, thunder, lightening - fun!
Herbs - a party and a half!

Quiet weekend here - we have a couple of dinner invites - social life on the up...

Scary drive, Auriga. We had similar en route to DSis's last night - a massive hailstorm and two separate diversions due to trees down over the road. And this morning there were two huge branches of our 50 foot pine tree lying on the lawn.

It was a fun evening (once we got there) - big, boozy night out with the family. Everyone on good form, even DB, who has made an unprecedented two appearances at family get-togethers in as many months. No dancing waitresses, though.

Today was all about DS - football in the morning, then a dash over to Guildford for an athletics competition. He was soaked to the skin after football in the rain, and didn't have time to go home, so we drove to Guildford with his pants draped over my feet in an effort to dry them in the hot air from the car heater. Grin He is hoping to trial for the county for sprinting, although he didn't do as well as he hoped.

I had time for a quick whizz around the shops - long enough to pop to Top Shop to try on THE skirt. Very nice, but I ended up splashing out an extra £3 on a similar skirt in a pale grey snake print with metallic threads, which I thought was more "me".
