I am going to a very naice evening for new year celebrations.

I am a very unhappy size 18. I wear things to hide in and hate wearing anything nice as I feel really crap. I live in jeans and jumpers.

I want to look nice. I want to feel great, I don't want to hide in something boring.

Have you got any tips that can help me.

Firstly, stop worrying. You sound so sad Sad No more hiding, ok?

Now, for the lovely dress.

Do you want sleeves?

Straight skirt bit or sticky outy?

Length?

What's your budget?

Fairy1303 · 29/11/2013 20:37

I had to go to my cousins wedding as a very unhappy 6 weeks post birth size 20 so feel you.

Depends on your shape but I always follow the age old tips
Spanx
Waist cinching belts
Wrap dresses?
Maxi dresses

I'm sure you will look great.
Get your hair done so you feel amazing.

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 29/11/2013 20:40

I really wish I could stop worrying, I want to feel comfortable in my own skin no matter what size I am.

I think I would like something with sleeves, at least to cover the tops of my arms.

I like the idea of something sticky out.

I would like to spend under £100.

Would a 60's style dress be appropriate?

I am big busted though if that makes a difference?

How posh is this thing?
I'm all about the boobs, personally!
Hang on I'm looking for you.

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 29/11/2013 20:44

My legs below the knee are ok, they look quite good in tights. I think!

I have big boobs too.

Thank you all for helping me, I really appreciate it.

I really like both of these. Shorter length or longer. I've bought from there before and the fabric is stretchy and forgivingSmile.

Longdistance · 29/11/2013 20:47

I'm a size 18, and I'm 5'10". I wear empire line naxi dresses.

what's your height? Boobs? Are you 18 up top, and bottom?

WhatchaMaCalllit · 29/11/2013 20:47

This is £25 with the half price code BF50, and says to size down...

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 29/11/2013 20:48

Banana, that style scares me, my belly would look huge. Thank you though.

Nancy, I like that, I could find a matching scarf to cover my arms.

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 29/11/2013 20:50

Tether I really like that! The skirt bit is my favourite part!

How about this?

tortoisesarefab · 29/11/2013 20:50

I got this m.houseoffraser.co.uk/Ted+Baker+Wastila+lace+dress+with+pleats/192123196,default,pd.html and it is very flattering. I am a 16 but got it in a 12. The sizing is quite generous i think. Good luck, shopping is rubbish when you are not happy with your shape.

Fairy1303 · 29/11/2013 20:51

Nancy's one is nice!

rainbowfeet · 29/11/2013 20:53

I love Asos curve, ax Paris curve, Gemma Collins dresses are lovely very flattering & you shouldn't find someone else wearing the same!!! Smile All online

peachesandpickles · 29/11/2013 20:53

I am size 18 too. I agree with callmenancy. That style is very flattering. I'm not sure on the phase eight one. Lovely dress but might not be very flattering on big boobs.

I have a Size 16+ thread going here. You might like to join us for ideas.

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 29/11/2013 20:54

I will definatley be along Peaches, thank you.

I think Nancy's one is my favourite, and it seems very appropriate for the type of evening.

CuntyBunty · 29/11/2013 20:54

Oooh Tethers, do you do nice vintage style dressing up? Those frocks are lovely, especially the red one. I think I need it with the petticoat.

I was coming on to recommend Collectif but I see that tethers beat me to it! They have some lovely dresses-I am a size 16 and nearly all of my clothes are from there.

The Fay or the Ella Doll dresses are stunning and come with built in petticoats to achieve the "sticky" out effect.

Hurry though as the 50% off code ends tomorrow.
