What do you do with the clothes you wore today?

I put the day's underwear and shirts into the laundry basket every evening.

But what about trousers, skirts, dresses, leggings, sweaters, cardigans? What do you do with them?

I don't like to put clothes that have been worn back into the wardrobe, but OTOH I can't have them lying around cluttering up the bedroom.

BTW I'm talking about my things, not dc or dh.

Same issue here

At the moment they go on the floor waiting for me to wear them again

Not ideal

Thisisnotworking · 22/11/2013 03:57

I have a chair in my bedroom for clothes that are still fit to wear but not for the wardrobe. So today's clothes go on there, might hang them outside to air or if they really are fresh I end up hanging them after all

MrsHoratioNelson · 22/11/2013 03:58

It feels weird to just put them away, doesn't it? So they go on the ottoman/laundry basket in the end of our bed until I can't open it anymore then I tidy them eventually

DH huffs and puffs about not knowing whether they're clean or dirty, but IMHO its better than leaving them in a pile on the floor by the bed like he does Hmm

Ledkr · 22/11/2013 05:16

Why can't they go back in the wardrobe?

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 22/11/2013 05:56

Everything gets washed as I'm usually covered in mud/snot/paint/glitter/anything else the kids cover me in as I'm a childminder.

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 22/11/2013 06:01

Do you change all your clothes every single day?

I wear a set of clothing for two days, sometimes three. I shower every day and wash 2-3 times a day at least and I also change my underwear twice a day but my clothes are not in need of a wash/change every day. I hang them up on the hooks behind the door and put them on again the next morning.

Cardigans and jumpers, if they are going over my clothes then I wash after 2 wears. That's two sets of 2-3 days each. They go into the 'rotation'. If I wear a jumper over nothing but my bra, I'd treat it like other clothing and put it into the wash after 2-3 days. I never put worn clothes b ack into the wardrobe.

Admittedly, I don't work in an office environment and nor do I go to work every day. I work part time and wear something else for work.

Rosa · 22/11/2013 06:16

Probably wear them today ( not pants and socks though)

MrsBennetsEldest · 22/11/2013 06:18

Everything goes in the wash.

Ilovexmastime · 22/11/2013 06:21

On the floor if they're what I want to wear the next day, or back in the wardrobe (if I'm being super organised!) if I want to wear something different the next day.

ILoveAFullFridge · 22/11/2013 06:25

Ledkr virtually all the clothes in the wardrobes were put there straight from laundering. None of our wardrobes smell. OTOH our coat wardrobe does often have a not-very-nice smell, a little musty. The coats are rarely washed, just hung up to dry first if its been raining.

I worry that, if I put worn-but-unwashed clothes in the wardrobe, the same will happen.

Dresses go on the wash after each wash. jeans are folded and put back into drawers. cardigans are hung up, and either go back into wardrobe or hung over wardrobe doors to air.

I used to leave these clothes in a pile on the floor but I've trained myself out of it.

I still struggle with what to do about scarfs. If I fold and store after wear they get musty. But if I drape them they get creased and litter up the house.

AmandaCooper · 22/11/2013 06:30

Back in the wardrobe if they've had very light wear and are the sort of garment that needs hanging. Otherwise lightly worn clothes go in a drawer specially for that purpose; more worn (eg jeans worn a couple of times but not dirty) over a chair in my room.

MinesAPintOfTea · 22/11/2013 06:30

On the hooks on Tyre back of the door (except t Shotts, socks underwear) if it passes the sniff test and isn't covered in snot or food. If I wear something different thenext day then I fold up and put away what was previously on the hooks.

rainbowfeet · 22/11/2013 06:32

I wear completely different clothes everyday.... Must be why I'm forever with full up laundry bins!!! Hmm

Sizzlesthedog · 22/11/2013 06:41

I have a chair in the bedroom for clothes that have been worn, but not needing washing yet.

Jeans clean on today, at the end of the day will go on the chair, tops and underwear in the laundry basket.

I couldn't hang them back in the wardrobe, would make my clean clothes musty. My DM says it attracts moths if you hang worn clothes back.

LightastheBreeze · 22/11/2013 06:43

Pants and socks in laundry, bra, Blush tops and knitwear on chest of drawers and trousers hang on back of spare bedroom door on one of those over door racks. All for another wearing.

The pile can get quite big though.

ILoveAFullFridge · 22/11/2013 06:44

I like the idea of having a part-worn drawer. After all, the clothes draped over the chair don't really air. And woollens don't need washing every wear.

LightastheBreeze · 22/11/2013 06:47

Oh in the summer I wash stuff much more often as it can go on the line. The above is for winter.

Ledkr · 22/11/2013 07:30

Crikey this has never occurred to me!
I guess the only thing if wear again would be jumpers skirts trousers or jeans and I just hang or fold then back into the wardrobe.
I'm a sweaty Betty so all other stuff gets washed.
I don't think they smell.
I'm a bit anal about having a tidy bedroom so couldn't leave it all around.

mammadiggingdeep · 22/11/2013 07:59

A pile on the floor...which I get fed up with and end up throwing in the laundry bin anyway...

madmomma · 22/11/2013 08:08

You can get valet stands can't you? I wonder if they solve the problem

MissScatterbrain · 22/11/2013 08:29

Putting worn clothes away attracts moths.

I leave worn but clean clothes hanging up outside the door/wardrobe ready to wear again within a few days.

NoComet · 22/11/2013 08:32

Chuck them over side of the bath, from where I'm about to remove them and Chuck them over the chair in the bedroom. Since DH wants a shower and will chuck them on the floor.

HaPPy8 · 22/11/2013 08:39

I hang mine over our bannister in the hallway upstairs.
