What do you do with the clothes you wore today?

I put the day's underwear and shirts into the laundry basket every evening.

But what about trousers, skirts, dresses, leggings, sweaters, cardigans? What do you do with them?

I don't like to put clothes that have been worn back into the wardrobe, but OTOH I can't have them lying around cluttering up the bedroom.

Casual day stuff I hang on hooks I have on the wardrobe wall. Most stuff I hang back up. I have knitwear that I handwash sparingly and a lot of things I have dry cleaned. People over wash an awful lot of clothes imo

I've got a valet stand from Ikea. I don't use it properly though, just chuck stuff on the top of it.
Funny this thread, a friend and I were talking about the same thing yesterday. She has a chair in her bedroom she uses.

I just can't bring myself to wear clothes twice...a jumper maybe...but never trousers or anything like that. Mine go in the laundry immediately. Maybe that's why my clothes don't last long!

Everything I wear is washed when I take it off.

I have a valet stand. But it's generally hidden under a heap of worn-once clothes!

I hang them up. I have a very large walk-in wardrobe (dressing room) with rails all down one side for my clothes.

Apart from underwear/socks and anything dirty which goes in the wash, obviously, I hang them over the end of the bed and then put them in the wardrobe in the morning when I get out something to wear.

I'm with Ledkr it just goes back in the wardrobe unless it's a shirt/t-shirt, then it goes in the wash.

I have mountains of washing as it is!

I have a two year old and I'm a sahm . It all gets washed . My dh works from home and wears jeans a few days . He puts them on too of his wardrobe . Never back in the wardrobe .

Underwear etc in wash, most under layers (ie next to skin like skinny polos or long sleeve narrow fitting tops) in the wash. Skirts/jeans/dresses in winter/cardigans/jumpers are all hung up or put away. I don't wash them every time they are worn as they are not dirty (well unless I drop something on them...).

Underwear and tops get washed after every wear. Everything else gets worn again if I've managed to keep it clean not an easy task in a cafe

I usually stick it on the chair in my room or over my shoe hamper.

DS's uniform goes over the back of the dining chairs as he's usually stripped off in the lounge

DD hangs hers over the end of her bed for the next day or shoves it on her desk.

They both usually need clean shirts every day and jumpers every other day mucky pups

I hang them on hangers on the wardrobe handles (theyre like door handles and can take several hangers). Once they've aired, I'll put them back in the wardrobe if I'm not going to wear them soon. If I'm being lazy I'll lay them on top of the laundry bin like DH does with his.

More money or time than sense here for all this washing.

And no rehung clothes don't smell if you are a non smoker or don't wear much perfume.

Minnie sadly, this is not necessarily true for Sweaty Betties.

Tops usually only get worn once (unless they have been over another layer) so not a problem.

Second layer tops - left out to air overnight and back in the drawer.

Leggings - only once.

Jeans - left out to air overnight and then folded back in the drawer.

Tailored bottoms get worn loads between dry cleanings.

Stuff left to air is either hung on the back of the door or on top of a chest of drawers overnight.

Wow I am amazed that you wash trousers, skirts, jumpers every time you wear them.

I wash them when they get a stain or look dirty but can wear the same pair of trousers/skirt for quite a while without them being smelly.

I don't tend to wear them evry day , but will rotate through the week and start again - and yes they just go back in my cupboard.

What about creases? Do you put creased things back in the wardrobe?

the issue is, you are quite happy to wear that skirt and cardigan again but you can't the next day because everyone at work will be snooty about it. so the answer is simple: put the skirt and cardigan on the next day (with different top, tights and underwear obv), wear it boldy, and use a time machine to jumble all the outifts up at work at the end of the week. It is the only answer. the other solutions just mystify me - what is a valet stand?!?!?

Add it to the pile of clothes on the bedroom floor to be sorted "later".

What about creases?

I try to avoid buying any clothes that can crease, because of this very issue.

I also keep a tidy bedroom. Underthings go in the laundry basket. The rest, so long as I haven't sweated in them, things that I have dry cleaned go back in the wardrobe. I keep one door open to keep it aired anyway and I don't keep my wardrobe chock full so there's space between things. It smells fresh, the only problem I get is that I have to check for whether an item smells of perfume as that can begin to smell funny after a while. Things like leggings and jeans go on a chair, along with pyjamas, if they haven't been worn again by washing day then they go in the wash. What I don't want is to pull something out to wear and find that I wore it 6 months ago and didn't wash it after - that feels a bit yuck to me. My OH keeps the same habits, which is handy!

Eyoreish, you can get a scarf hanger, felt covered with slots for several scarfs that way they can be folded and hung but still aired. I have two!

Mrsscatterbrain, I didn't know that about moths! We have had the occasional moth but I now keep the wardrobes and drawers stuffed with anti moth things!
