Amber oooh! Hello! I am loving exploring my style and colour combos. Find it hard to spend money and dither a LOT, but I think I'm building a nice collection. Have a pixie cut recently, which is a very exciting change. Grin.

QueenCadbury · 24/02/2014 10:31

I can't wear scarves for the sake of it as I look silly but I do wear them with coats/jackets. I've got a cobalt pashmina type one from accessorize and a couple from kettlewell because I adore the colours (royal purple and Chinese blue).

I loooooove scarves! I've worn my leopard dark purple scarf to death! Also bought a few from this seller on ebay too!

Geneticsbunny · 24/02/2014 18:34

Hi givemeaminute. I was loving the beautiful green dress posted at the beginning of the thread but I will be Breastfeeding for the next six months or so, so I need some tops and smart ish trousers and skirts. I am really looking for a nice pencil skirt and some trousers.
I really like this maybe with a tshirt but I think it might be a bit too flouncy and I have no idea if they even deliver to the uk! I also love these trousers but I am not sure if they would suit me, plus they are a bit pricey. Dressing classic style when you aren't at work is really hard. I always feel a bit overdressed.

Meganhunt · 24/02/2014 19:32

Hi Genetics, lovely colours - one of the few reasons I was happy to return to work was being able to wear my smart clothes!

Amber, I'm a winter Classic Gamine - and also love the McQ scarves but can't decide on a colour.

AmberNectarine · 24/02/2014 19:46

megan I've got red with black skulls and black with cobalt skulls. I sometimes wear them together. They're keeping well, despite DD (2.6) using them when she pretends to be a ghost!

Hello winters
I'm struggling with eyes... I have blue eyes and convention would tell me they need brown, goldie colours or bronze to make them pop as that is the opposite on the colour wheel... I used brown before or browny grey but now what do I use?
I don't wear lots of eyeshadow, just usually use it to line my upper lid really and then mascara but feeling a bit odd using navy or grey as it doesn't really make my eyes sing...
Everything is taking ages in the morning as I don't feel like I'm making my choices naturally - so we were a bit late leaving the house today! shame on me for not having the heart to sort out clothes the night before like I do for the little people... Blush

SorrelForbes · 25/02/2014 09:54

I've got green eyes. I just use dark grey shadow to line the upper lid (tight lining I think it's called?). I do have a nice Givenchy palette with Purples and greys but find it a bit much with the bright lipsticks I like to wear.

Sorry, not very helpful...

MissScatterbrain · 25/02/2014 10:04

Taupe or grey here. I have seen a purplish grey that should be good for winters. I don't tend to wear eye shadow unless its for a night out. Love my black eyeliner and mascara though.

Maraki · 25/02/2014 11:05

foogle bobbi brown's rockstar is a grey eyeshadow with a tiny hint of purple. Its the only grey eyeshadow I like because its not silver discoball but still covers redness on my eyelids after a broken sleep night.

Fooogle · 25/02/2014 12:20

Thanks peeps!
Will have a look. Tried black eyeliner but I'm not very good at applying it. Like the vintage look though...
maraki, feeling for you on the broken nights sleep. Same here. Will look that one up.
Am going for a check that I am def' a winter this afternoon after being a spring for ages...

MissScatterbrain · 25/02/2014 13:23

Foogle - sounds intriguing? going for a rerate then?

TheGruffalo2 · 25/02/2014 18:28

I'm blue-eyed and I go for lilac and purple eyeshadows and navy blue eyeliner.

QueenCadbury · 25/02/2014 19:06

I rarely wear eyeshadow anymore but if I do I go for silver/grey or just navy eyeliner.
fooogle were you a spring and then re-diagnosed as a winter? Let us know how your rerate goes.

Fooogle · 25/02/2014 19:24

Hello winters
Yes I was a spring about 8 years ago by CMB and then thought if have a rerate a few weeks back with hoc and get some tips and then got told I wAs a winter! Then have gone back today for a bit of reassurance that it's true...
Feel more reassured but a bit gutted I need to slowly get rid of lots of clothes...
Think I may be a bit if a sprinter winter (is that the term?). Lots of the bright spring colours didn't look appalling but could see winters looked better...
Didn't remember all my questions as kind of popped in on someone else's session to get extra opinions...

MissScatterbrain · 25/02/2014 19:29

From seeing a friend's CMB swatch book, I think there are a lot of colours in it that could be worn by Winters (black, red, blue etc) so maybe its not that surprising?

HOC Springs can wear grey which is also good for Winters.

What colours do you currently have that do not look good on you?

MissScatterbrain · 25/02/2014 19:31

I am sure there are ways of keeping the less suitable colours - adding scarves, limiting it to below waist or wearing these with black or indigo to tone down the warmth.

QueenCadbury · 25/02/2014 20:11

foogle I'm a sprinter. It took her a while to work out whether I'm warm or cool as I'm fairly neutral but the cool winter colours were definitely my best. I'm sure that you don't need to get rid of everything do you? After reading the spring thread I was looking at blue spring colours as that's my nearest next season and tbh the blues all looked pretty similar to the winter blues maybe just a bit lighter and I guess warmer. Which are your best winter colours?

OP posts:
Fooogle · 25/02/2014 22:38

Sorry, shouldnt be melodramatic. I just actually have quite a bit of orange and yellow!... A few could pass as acid yellow but not much. I think i d also strayed a bit into autumn too so more muted spring colours... My ** at 100 are electric blue, raspberry, chinese blue, fuschia, magentA,, scarlet, charcoal. Think that's mostly it.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 25/02/2014 23:18

Oooh, look at the pretty blue dress on sale Grin

SorrelForbes · 25/02/2014 23:22

That's lovely. What's the sizing like? I'd usually go for a medium but the size guide shows me nearer to a Large.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 25/02/2014 23:22

And this top...mmm

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 25/02/2014 23:26

I bought a Great Plains jumper dress for a friend for Christmas in Large and she is a 12/14 ... she said it was a little roomy but okay, better than being too tight for her. Does that help at all?!? Confused

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 25/02/2014 23:28

And this top makes me think of Queen...?

KosherBacon · 26/02/2014 08:23

Baghhhhh. All I get is a bad error request when I click on all the Great Plains links.
