I've got two Boden ones and the ivory is more like beige/stone. I'll try Petit Bateu, thanks.

MissScatterbrain · 18/02/2014 16:47

Jaeger at HoF

another french brand

Hope these help Sorrel.

MissScatterbrain · 18/02/2014 16:50

Petit Bateau :)

SorrelForbes · 18/02/2014 17:36

I love the Jaeger one, thanks!

TheGruffalo2 · 19/02/2014 14:46

Jaegar one looks good. What is Saint James quality and sizing like?

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 17:13

Saint James is decent quality - similar to Petit Bateau. Its been years since I last bought stuff from there so not sure about sizing.

TheGruffalo2 · 19/02/2014 18:15

What do people think of this?

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 18:35

Lovely blouse :)

TheGruffalo2 · 19/02/2014 18:38

Thank you, I just needed reassurance before I clicked "buy". Hopefully the green will be a good winter match, as I've lost my colours wallet.

Geneticsbunny · 19/02/2014 18:47

Hi all. Only just found ths thread and I suspect that it will do my wallet some serious damage. I am a 'burnished' winter and classic on the style front. Just had a baby so feeling particularly frumpy at the mo. thought. Would join in to get a few ideas of what to add to my wardrobe.

TheGruffalo2 · 19/02/2014 18:51

It does take serious will power to visit this thread! That or a bigger bank balance than I've got! Welcome Geneticsbunny. I'm a jewel winter with gamine style, but still getting my head round putting it all together so it is lovely to see everyone else's ideas.

passata · 19/02/2014 19:18

Hi, can someone explain something for me please? My consultant said to use the words 'vivid, bright and icy' but as a sultry winter my **colours aren't bright, vivid or icy - they're really rich and maybe even a bit muted so I'm a bit muddled. Thanks Thanks

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 19:33

Passata - I'm a sultry winter as well. I can wear most colours in the palette (the few exceptions are some of the ice colours) and my best ones are pine green, black, charcoal, navy, indigo, mole & burgundy. Some of the jewel colours also look fab but only as 50% of my outfit.

I make sure there is contrast in how I look (think wintry/Christmassy landscape with black, grey, pine green and the occasional red from berries and ice blue sky etc). This means wearing strong lipsticks and using vivid colours for accessories (emerald, red & cobalt are my favs at the moment).

passata · 19/02/2014 19:50

So the bright/vivid/icy is about the overall look?

passata · 19/02/2014 19:51

Great link for styling a navy blazer on today's home page - www.wardrobeoxygen.com/

Fooogle · 19/02/2014 20:01

missscatter that's helpful re how to pull together your overall look. Anyone with tips for a jewel?! My colours all seem a bit bonkers - lots of the blues, greys, shocking pinks and scarlet... I'm currently wearing a burgundy cardi and a grey cowl top and am not sure it's really a good look! But I am just not really convinced about it all on me just now.

Tried a revlon gloss in Cheers which was quite a good pink I think and Bordeaux which someone recommended on here (thanks, sorry, haven't tracked back to who!).

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 20:29

I would say cool, bold, clear and vivid are better key words.

Need to be careful with thinking bright as Spring colours are bright. Vivid and bold are better descriptions.

passata · 19/02/2014 20:33

Thanks miss that makes much better sense! My bright blues and pinks are definitely bold Grin

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 20:36

Froogle - try adding a third colour as an accent if you wear grey and burgundy. I think jewel winters look amazing when they wear at least 50% of their outfit in one of their best colours - e,g emerald top with a dark neutral plus a third bright colour such as scarlet as an accent. I also like how some people combine certain jewel colours - such as emerald and chinese blue, purple and red, chinese blue and shocking pink etc.

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 20:37

Passata - good link, she looks like a winter doesn't she (shame about the brown leopard print scarf which does nothing for her though!).

passata · 19/02/2014 20:40

She does look like a winter yes but she adds loads of soft browns which I'm not keen on!

My eyes are very dark brown and I always thought I looked good in dark brown for that reason. Maybe not Confused

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 20:51

A lot of winters have deep dark brown eyes (think Anne Hathaway) and they do look wonderful in black.

TheGruffalo2 · 19/02/2014 20:54

I'm a blue eyed, blonde winter and one of my best colours is black! Plus dark grey, red and purple!

MissScatterbrain · 19/02/2014 21:34

TheGruffalo - I bet you look great in your best colours. The main thing Winters have in common is contrasts in their colouring.

KosherBacon · 19/02/2014 23:04

Foogle- I recommended the Bordeaux lipgloss. It's fab. I love it.

No purchases for me as I'm still losing weight. I am allowed to formally book my style day once I've lost another 3.5lb, to take me up to 2 stone and then I will allow myself to slowly start replacing things.

I'd definitely say it has saved me money as I've bought far less since having my colours done and my choices are far more considered. I'm hoping the style day will further enhance that. I'm thinking I might be a classic but I'm not sure.
