Okay, I've decided the Uniqlo shirt is going back - it simply doesn't fit right.

Instead, I am thinking of this Zara shirt in ice blue (I think ice blue) - I already have it in black and it is a good fit - short, neat, tres gamine. Grin Plus it is on sale. Bargain.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 16/01/2014 11:35

Bugger - out of stock. Sad

ElizabethBathory · 16/01/2014 11:53

Damn Face, it's a lovely shirt! Agree c'est tres gamine :) Hopefully you can find similar somewhere else. It's definitely better than a white shirt. I used to collect white shirts thinking oh very useful and classic, can dress it up and down etc, but actually white shirts are just plain dull!

KosherBacon · 16/01/2014 12:00

I haven't owned a white shirt since school. My big boobs just don't suit them.

I am desperate to do my style day. It's my two stone weight loss treat to myself (16lb down, 12 to go). I need new clothes but am going to make do with what I have until then. It's definitely going to be an investment.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 16/01/2014 12:10

Yeah, I have biggish knockers too! But the black shirt is really flattering. Maybe I'll go for pink and cobalt and things but in shirts instead of jersey tops... hmmm.... yes, that might be a good idea.

I feel like I am building a collection of clothes. It is so nice. Just lovely. Still have a stone to lose before I start really investing in longer term pieces. The style day was GREAT, Kosher, keep up with the weightloss until you can go!

ElizabethBathory · 16/01/2014 12:51

I have a new favourite lipstick - Sugar Plum Fairy by Wet n Wild, really lovely purply pink, very easy to wear. Got it off Amazon for about $5 inc postage here. Took a while to arrive but worth it!

ElizabethBathory · 16/01/2014 12:52

It's matte rather than glossy, the woman in the pic must have put something on top of it.

QueenCadbury · 16/01/2014 21:55

Thnks for the emerald cardi links. I'd seen most of them before unfortunately. I love the fever one but I think it'll be too cropped on me.

Lovely lippy elizabeth and I love that ice blue shirt face.

Next question for you all is do you think this blouse is ok for winters? I'm not great with patterns and I'm never sure how contrasted they should be iyswim. It's totally my style and easy to wear with the dc and it's lovely on but something's holding me back.

LittleBabyPigsus · 16/01/2014 22:19

I don't usually wear small patterns but that is nice - and I think because it's such a dark navy, it's contrasted enough.

MissScatterbrain · 17/01/2014 07:08

I think the small busy floral pattern (which has more than one colour i,e white, grey and blue) makes it look muted...

Contrasting patterns such as stripes, dots and geometric shapes are better I think.

ElizabethBathory · 17/01/2014 08:27

I do think know the small pattern gives it an overall muted look Queen (I always feel like I fade away in small patterns) but if you really like it and will wear it, get it! I can see that deep navy working well with your hair - there will be plenty of contrast there.

ElizabethBathory · 17/01/2014 08:28

Sorry for random words appearing in my posts, am getting to grips with a new phone :)

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 17/01/2014 08:41

Am interested in this as I want a navy patterned top for summer. That top wouldn't suit me but I think that is me. For me, I think I need much more navy in it, with just a bit of a white print that is a bit angular or pointy - I'm thinking anchors or swallows. I saw a couple of those tops last summer and was drawn to them but can't see anything like that about at the moment.

I think I also suit small gemoetric prints like houndstooth and herringbone, but then that was specific advice from HoC for me.

ElizabethBathory · 17/01/2014 09:18

Yy I suit anchor and swallow type prints too Face - anything pointy or geometric. A lot of my printed clothes are from Oasis, they did lots of anchors and birds last year in great winter colours. Have a look on eBay maybe? This is one of my favourite jumpers of theirs - navy, black and raspberry red swans on light grey, perfect :)

I won this DP dress for £7.99 off eBay last week (new) - that's another kind of pattern I can do. Also polka dots tend to work.

QueenCadbury · 17/01/2014 09:58

Weird that you should just be talking about swallows as I've just ordered this blouse to try.

I think you're all right about the next one in that the different colours make it look muted. It's a shame as I have the same style blouse from last season and it's so nice to wear that I really want to like it but I know deep down it's not quite right so back it goes.

yumi do a lot of those sorts of prints. I've never bought from them though so no idea about quality or sizing.

OP posts:
libertychick · 17/01/2014 10:32

QueenC I really like that sallow print blouse. A shop near me sells lots of Yumi. Quality seems ok, sizing a bit small at times.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 17/01/2014 13:20

Those are lovely recommendations. Grin

Popped into a Next today and held that print blouse up to my face. It was fine, and definitely more like a navy than anything else, but wasn't 'ping' on me.

MissScatterbrain · 17/01/2014 14:07

The swallow blouse is much better I think.

Gah! Ordered a cashmere pashmina scarf from ebay - its supposed to be maroon. It came this morning and its rust - not even close to burgundy/maroon!! Have asked for a refund.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 17/01/2014 14:17

How do you find wearing polyester? I mean, obviously you find it fine or you wouldn't order it but I find I smell a bit when I wear it. Blush I stick to cotton pretty much exclusively now. Even wearing that red acrylic jumper from Tesco that is such a fab colour, I find I pong by the end of the day.

So I'm looking at all these lovely clothes thinking, 'Nope, no, shame, no, can I get a cotton version of that?'

MissScatterbrain · 17/01/2014 17:30

If wearing jumpers that are acrylic (although I am trying to phase these out with real wool/merino/cheap cashmere), I try to wear a cotton top underneath to prevent the pong.

QueenCadbury · 17/01/2014 17:38

face I'm very sweaty anyway so tend to pong by the end of the day whatever I'm wearing. I don't honestly notice a difference when wearing poly.

OP posts:
FaceDirectionOfTravel · 17/01/2014 18:36

Queen thank you for your honesty. I felt a bit bad asking that question but it genuinely worries me that I will be much worse in poly so I avoid it. I do pong a bit by the end of the day but it is different. Somehow. Maybe not to those unfortunate enough to stand near me. Grin

QueenCadbury · 17/01/2014 19:21

Don't feel bad face. I'm a nurse so I'll pretty much answer anything Grin.
