Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from here.

Some 'ice colours' (I think) on the out net -

mint here

silver grey

ice mauve

KosherBacon · 13/01/2014 08:29

Thanks for the tip. I am now following her, QC.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 13/01/2014 14:22

Just saw that Isabi have some very flowy winter colour clothes in their sale - not for me, but maybe for someone else!

Have recently ordered a white shirt from Uniqlo and emerald green chiffon scarf. Am considering getting back into earrings but my ears are so sensitive I think I need to go for titanium or sterling silver or something else really hypoallergenic.

I know this HoC thing is supposed to save me money but I am enjoying shopping so much now I don't see why I'd want to stop. Grin

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 13/01/2014 14:26

Is this top an ice blue? Think it would look nice with a grey suit, for instance. tries to justify it even though she doesn't even work.

madmomma · 13/01/2014 18:24

Right it's controversial, but I've been diagnosed a Summer when I really really think I'm a Winter. I'm definitely cool, but I just feel so drawn to all these links, and I feel meh about all the Summer ones. What do I do?

MissScatterbrain · 13/01/2014 20:10

Go back to your consultant and ask to be double checked - did you see how your face lit up when you were diagnosed?

MissScatterbrain · 13/01/2014 20:11

It looks like a very cool pale blue and I would wear it under a grey suit.

madmomma · 13/01/2014 20:14

I kind of did a bit, but then there were several colours where she was like "ooh no I don't like you in that" when I thought I looked good Confused

madmomma · 13/01/2014 20:14

It was over a year ago that I had it done so I'd feel silly going back to her now

QueenCadbury · 13/01/2014 20:26

face that looks ice blue to me. I really want an ice blue blouse. It's a good colour for me.

mad that's a hard one. I can see why you wouldn't want to go back. What are your best summer colours? Which winter ones are you drawn too? Are there any summer colours that you put on and feel wow in? How do you look in pure black or white?

I always assumed that I would be a summer and I often wore the cool muted shades. Even now I'm often drawn to them in the shops and although they don't look bad they don't look wow like some of the bright winter colours.

Oh, forgot to say that I found a random emerald belt in gap today in the sale for 4 quid. They also had cobalt. I'd never seen them before and they definitely weren't last seasons stock. Goodness knows how old it is but I'm very happy with it!

Well to take lipsticks as an example, I look fab in really bright fuscias and reds and disappear a bit in the summer lipsticks.
I love wearing black and white
I look better in iced colours than pastels...
My ** colours include rose madder and pale pink but when I ordered tops in those colours from kettlewell they just look meh
It just doesn't feel right.
My hair is dark, my skin is pale neutral and my eyes are green.

MissScatterbrain · 13/01/2014 20:44

Mad - I really would consider going back for a re-rate, explain you do not feel right in your new colours and would like to check with her why this could be so. £100 is a lot of money not to mention the "mistake" purchases you might be making.

madmomma · 13/01/2014 20:46

Do you think so? Will she not think I'm being cheeky and trying to get something for nothing?

QueenCadbury · 13/01/2014 21:08

Now you've said all that mad I would definitely contact her. At the very worst she will tell you to bugger off but she's more likely to want you to be happy with your diagnosis. I would just email her and say that you've been living as a summer for 12m but it doesn't feel right and see what she says.

Meant to add, where there other people at your consultation? Wht did they think?

OP posts:
madmomma · 13/01/2014 21:54

No I was on my own queen
I will email her
Thanks for the advice

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 14/01/2014 19:16

Hiya, Just wondering if anyone has any burgundy lipstick recommendations? The HoC one is good but just a bit too...much... for every day I think. I'd like a slightly softer sort of burgundy. Does that exist? For less than a tenner? Thanks all!

KosherBacon · 14/01/2014 19:35

I love Bordeaux colorburst gloss by Revlon

LittleBabyPigsus · 14/01/2014 19:43

Could you clarify what you mean by softer - do you mean more red than purple, or do you mean just lighter/sheerer overall?

Maybe try one of the chubby stick knockoffs - Revlon does a burgundy one, as does Bourjois and I think Rimmel does too. More sheer than a lipstick so should be a softer colour. The B range at Superdrug has 1/3 off currently and does a sheer lipstick - there's a dark red and a raspberry, maybe try one of them? M&S Autograph's chubby stick knockoff is very good (about £9) and I know there are some deeper colours in the range. M&S makeup is really good now in general.

Topshop have a lot of vivid colours in their lipstick range and it is fantastic quality - there's a plummy burgundy lip bullet called Wine Gum which is lovely.

QueenCadbury · 14/01/2014 21:06

Any thoughts on this colour. Would you say it's emerald or not? I think I'm trying to convince myself.

OP posts:
MissScatterbrain · 14/01/2014 21:10

Looks like apple green which is Spring, but do pop in to see if its a true emerald.

MissScatterbrain · 14/01/2014 21:11

The blue looks like cobalt which is good and think I will get one for my DD as she has a new dress which could go with it.

QueenCadbury · 14/01/2014 21:17

It's online only so need to decide if I want to pay postage on a 10 pound cardigan

OP posts:
LittleBabyPigsus · 14/01/2014 21:18

The green definitely looks apple green, not emerald - it's too yellow. That mint green one looks icy green not pastel, right? I'm still trying to distinguish between icy colours and pastels.
