Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from here.

Love the skirt.

Any colour recommendations for Clinique chubby lipsticks? Looking for an everyday colour. Really don't like my Hoc lipsticks. I had my colours done and was pleased to be a sultry winter but I hardly wear any make up at all except mascara and a tinted lip balm so really not happy to be wearing such thick lipsticks in such heavy colours - thought Clinique balm might be softer on the eye?

Dark brown hair and eyes and sallow/pale-olive skin.

Really like the skirt Sorrell. Wish I could justify something as glamorous and lovely, but never go anywhere. Sad Your outfit sounds perfect for a house party.

SorrelForbes · 27/12/2013 17:26

I don't usually go anywhere either! It was £18 on the sale and I doubt if I would have paid full price (£42) for it.

Well have the DC with us so I doubt we'll make it past 10! Xmas Grin

AmberNectarine · 27/12/2013 17:29

I'll second the EL chaotic current rec. it was great for breaking me in gently back when I first got my colours done. I need more options really - I alternate between Kate moss 001 and the HoC burgundy

AsBrightAsAJewel · 27/12/2013 17:34

Hello Winters! Can I join the group? As my name suggests I am a jewel winter.

ElizabethBathory · 27/12/2013 18:21

Hi all, hope you all had lovely Christmases! And welcome AsBright - when were you diagnosed?

ElizabethBathory · 27/12/2013 18:46

I did get a nice winter-appropriate Xmas present. My MIL bought me this jumper from Next which is a good match for the damson swatch and I think it's lovely!

I also bought myself the red coat I was eyeing up cos it went in the sale. It's gorgeous and fits perfectly - pretty lucky given that I didn't see it in the flesh first :)

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 27/12/2013 19:01

Happy Christmas all! I was given an excellent deep red hat (in a very gamine style!) that I love, as well as a grey scarf with blue dots and a blue scarf with grey hearts. I had lots of compliments and felt confident having my picture taken, which was a really nice feeling.

SorrelForbes · 27/12/2013 19:05

ElizabethBathory I wish I'd seen that top in my local Next yesterday instead of a sea of cream lacy blouses! Sold out on-line too.

SorrelForbes · 27/12/2013 19:16

Picked up this in silver for £12.

Wigeon · 27/12/2013 20:04

Hello! Had a HoC session a few months ago and am a jewel winter. Have been enjoying gradually ditching the browns, creams etc from my wardrobe and gradually filling it with lovely purples, deep reds, dark greens etc - fortunately some of which were my favourite colours anyway.

Sooo, I have a question for you all - I went shopping for hours and hours today to stock up on warm jumpers in the sales, but about 80% of jumpers (especially the nice thick sort) seemed to be sort of wishy washy colours which really aren't jewel winter at all. And in general, I am much better at choosing the deep jewel-y colours than the pastel / paler colours in my HoC swatch booklet, so I get a bit confused when trying to choose non-dark-jewel colours.

So after hours and hours shopping I came home with ONE jumper (this one, which actually looks quite grey rather than lilac in RL, which is one of my good colours) and a couple [[http://www.oasis-stores.com/longsleeve-fit-and-flare-dress//oasis/fcp-product/3660040521 of these jumper dresses in dark green and burgundy.

There were quite a few thin cotton jumpers in winter colouring, but I need something warm!

Any tips for finding winter coloured, but thick, jumpers?

Wigeon · 27/12/2013 20:05

Sorry for second link fail - now working!

AsBrightAsAJewel · 27/12/2013 21:01

I was diagnosed about six months ago, but have only just found you all. I'm not doing too badly at organising my colours but I'm not buying much in the way of new clothes as I'm on a diet! 8lbs down and about a stone to go! My best colours are black, grey, red then the brights - blue, purple, cerise.

MissScatterbrain · 30/12/2013 09:14

Lovely red coat & damson jumper EB Smile

Fab sequin skirt - burgundy would look good with it (along with matching lippy and nails!).

Welcome to the newbies - look forward to reading about your purchases Smile

Re thick jumpers - have you tried Woolovers? I tend to stick to dark navy, charcoal and black for jumpers and use jewel colours as accents.

Think there are some clinique lippy suggestions on this or the last thread - try doing a search.

KosherBacon · 30/12/2013 09:57

OMG the Christmas pictures showed just how disastrous my hair is looking at the moment. Dyeing my grey has actually lifted some of the brown out of my hair. I have two inch roots of dark ashy brown with less than 5% grey in and then the rest is still brown but has this awful gingery tone that just does not look good, even with black malva. I need a colour that will take evenly and not add any more lift to it. I feel I may be looking for something that doesn't exist.

MissScatterbrain · 30/12/2013 10:03

Have you tried a light ash brown dye?

KosherBacon · 30/12/2013 10:08

I have in the past. The issue is the developers lift the brown out of my hair, so once the dye has faded I'm left with awful looking coppery brown. Or I have the other problem that they deposit unevenly in my hair.

sultrywinter · 30/12/2013 10:17

I'm in the same boat KB. After a wash or two my hair looks gold and coppery in the sun. Indoors it looks dark but outside it looks awful - to me! My hairdresser says if I use a dark ash brown I'll go olive Confused

sultrywinter · 30/12/2013 10:18

miss not sure how to search for a lipstick suggestion in a thread Blush

AsBrightAsAJewel · 30/12/2013 14:25

There is masses I like on Espirit at the moment. Can anyone comment on their quality, sizing and customer service, please?

I agree with people about hair colour problems. I am a chosen blonde as it covers all my grey well and (I think) goes very well with my older pale skin, blue eyes and freckles. However, since being diagnosed I'm trying to tone down the golden blonde to a more ash blonde colour, which looks OK when first done, but a few weeks later the golden/coppery colours come out. Last time the hairdresser put a toner over my colour to take out some of the gold but it didn't last. I have a horrible feeling the only way to negate this is to go darker.

SorrelForbes · 30/12/2013 15:30

AsBrightAsAJewel Blimey, loads of lovely stuff on there! Do you think this in Delft Blue is vibrant enough for a Jewell Winter?

Actually, I'm trying not to buy anything until after my style day Xmas Grin

AsBrightAsAJewel · 30/12/2013 16:32

I've been holding my colour wallet up to the screen trying to work that out SorrelForbes! It seems a bit lighter, but brighter than swatch 11 (my 100% **), so it may be worth a try. I am more tempted by the Fire Red, the various grey shades and black items.
I've had my style day (so impressed with colour day I booked it the month after), but I'm trying to avoid buying too much until I've lost the last 14lbs! Trouble is I need clothes for the colder weather and I'm struggling with matching my shape advice, my style (gamine) with flattering clothes for my size 16 body that disguise certain areas. Oh and suit my age (no spring chicken!).

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 30/12/2013 16:42

AsBright I think that fire red is too orangey, sorry! And I'm not sure about the blue. I have a thread about being gamine with a not particularly gamine body shape and had some useful advice on there. I will bump it for you. Am also waiting to lose some more weight but am happily buying from Primark and pinning to Pinterest in the meantime!

Sultry To find things in a thread, press the 'show all messages button' and then just search on the page for 'clinique' or 'lipstick' or similar.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 30/12/2013 17:03

You are probably right, Face Sad. But at least it prevents me spending money!

QueenCadbury · 30/12/2013 17:40

asbright there was a thread recently about esprit and I think most vouched for the quality. Not sure about the blue. Although the swatch for one of the blues isn't as bright as the brightest if that makes sense (is it royal blue nd electric blue I'm thinking of?)
