Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from here.

I can't wear too much white anymore either but it is a winter colour whereas Ivory is a summer colour and that was why I asked.

The Coral blouse is a Spring colour Grin hope you can change it?

AngryFeet · 19/12/2013 22:17

I think I need to work with the lipsticks more to feel comfortable. My hair will have to evolve over time as I just had a full head of highlights and can't afford to do anything else! I do think lighter hair suits me so might head towards very pale and see how it goes. The lipglosses looked much better than the lipsticks. I think the more burgundy end of the spectrum suits me there (although clothes wise it wasn't a great colour on me).

ElizabethBathory · 19/12/2013 22:21

I do like the blonde on you angryfeet and if that's the colour you were as a child then it's your 'natural' colour really ;)

AngryFeet · 19/12/2013 22:24

Ha ha true! Although I was platinum blonde as a child.

KosherBacon · 20/12/2013 07:05

I had a little stroll by the mac counter and bought Plum Foolery blusher and Vex and Shale eyeshadows. Shale is a great cool/ neutral shade- a soft lavender grey. A great alternative to brown. I'm wearing it now and it's great. I resisted the lipstick urge as although the colours are great, mac lipsticks always dry my lips out.

QueenCadbury · 20/12/2013 08:35

angry if you're at all unsure I would speak to your consultant as she wouldn't want you to be unhappy. From what you've said it sounds like the winter colours are best for you. It took a while to do mine as for ages we couldn't even decide whether I was cool or warm! Once we'd decided I'm cool none of the summer colours looked bad but the winter bright colours definitely looked best. If you do go back to her use the opportunity to play around with the different lipsticks too. Mi came home from my session with the red one but after emailing her afterwards I bought a fushia one which is so much better on me. With the make up I've come to the conclusion that it depends on your style personality too. For me, make up that's too over done doesn't fit in with the ingenenue natural style hence I look drag queen ish. I need a bright lipstick but a natural looking one iyswim so sheer, translucent rather than opaque.

Try the revlon lip butters in raspberry pie and red velvet too angry

While we're on lips, I've just rediscovered Estée Lauder Chaotic Currant lip gloss, which I bought soon after having my colours done. Great for sultry winters especially. It's dark and plummy, but sheer. And great if you're feeling intimidated by/can't be arsed with lipstick.

Am sure this bag was £109 a few weeks ago. Mentioned on thread by QueenC. Considering buying. Not seen in real life tho.

bag

KosherBacon · 21/12/2013 10:29

Oh.. That is a lovely bag. Very tempting.

SorrelForbes · 21/12/2013 12:22

Yep, I'm sure it was £109 too! It's very nice but a little paler than I'd like. My search for a grey bag continues!

QueenCadbury · 21/12/2013 12:26

Yes ginger it was definitely more expensive. Buy it!!

I bought two lipsticks today (both recommended on another lipstick thread): Collection 2000 in Prohibition and Maybelline Superstay Red Passion.

I'm very impressed with Prohibition. I thought it would be a darker wine red but on me it's more of a dark pinky red and two coats looks almost a dark fuchsia. God staying power too.

The Maybelline one is a much brighter, truer red. Very nice but more of an evening lipstick (for me anyway).

Interestingly, earlier today I put on No7 High Shine Lip Crayon in Statement which I bought just after my colour day. At the time it seemed quite vibrant but after wearing proper reds and fuchsias for the last month it now looks really pale on me! If anyone would like it then please let me know!

MissScatterbrain · 21/12/2013 18:31

Ha ha, bought the collection lipstick as well - its a lovely dark red on me, not at all pinkish on me. Made my eyes pop Smile

SorrelForbes · 21/12/2013 18:59

I've just blotted the Collection again and applied another coat and it's a bit darker. I love it! This could be my new daytime lipstick (alternating with Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Suspense).

GingerLemonTea · 21/12/2013 22:52

I have bought the bag! I had some birthday money left so I have bought it! Free delivery.
Can return easily to local store if not nice in real life!

QueenCadbury · 22/12/2013 09:12

sorrell I want that collection lipstick too but it's out of stock online and my small local boots didn't have it. It's weird how you get used to bright lipsticks quickly. I don't use lip butter berry smoothie anymore as it's too pale.

ginger report back about the bag.

OP posts:
ElizabethBathory · 22/12/2013 17:09

I do like Prohibition, the colour is perfect. But I'm finding it really drying and a little uncomfortable on my lips, so it's not my holy grail every day lipstick unfortunately. Funny how I seem to be the only person who doesn't find Mac lipsticks drying, but Prohibition is! All Body Shop and most Clinique and Chantecaille lipsticks are drying on me too, so maybe there's an ingredient I'm sensitive to.

QueenCadbury · 23/12/2013 09:44

There's some lovely winter coloured stuff in the other stories sale. I'm umming and aaahing about the purple scarf.

I've just come back from seeing frozen. I've been admiring elsa's gorgeous winter colouring. She looks gorgeous in her ice blue dress and dark lips. Shame she's only an animated character Xmas Grin

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 23/12/2013 14:55

I'm pretty sure I am really behind the times, but someone recommended Rimmel's Numner 1 lipstick (part of a 'Kate' range) and I bought it today and it is a gorgeous colour. Perfect red. I've only had it on ten minutes so will review staying power later, but the flavour is lush and it went on well.

V happy with it so far. Could become an expensive habit, couldn't it?

QueenCadbury · 26/12/2013 18:44

Hello lovely ladies. Hope you've all had lovely Christmas'? Any nice presents to report?

I nipped to the shops today whilst ice skating at the local mall and bought the prohibition lipstick. As you all said, it's a fab colour and for me a much nicer consistency than the Kate moss 107.

OP posts:
GingerLemonTea · 26/12/2013 21:00

The bag arrived on Christmas Eve. The colour is true to the pic. I've not had a pose in the mirror yet but I'm not sure about it. The side compartments have a zip up the middle & seem a bit baggy.
It's reduced in the above link but sold out.

SorrelForbes · 27/12/2013 14:40

I bought this skirt yesterday in the Next sale. Any thoughts on how to style it for a NYE house party? I'm thinking black heels and maybe a burgundy (one of my ** 75% colours) vest top and a black cardigan? Too boring?

Sounds lovely sorrell, like the skirt.
