Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from here.

I don't wear leggings as I feel really scruffy in these and hate how I look in these.

In winter I wear thick woolly type tights as I wear above the knee skirts and dresses a lot of the time (my legs are my best assets).

MissScatterbrain · 11/12/2013 08:51

Face - I find looking at clothes without a model wearing these difficult. Its easier to view clothes when these are being worn as you get an idea of how to style these and how to make these work as an outfit.

Love the bracelets Smile

LittleBabyPigsus · 11/12/2013 09:01

I find it hard to find dresses that are short enough not to dwarf me (I am short) but also properly cover my bum! Hence the leggings Wink

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 11/12/2013 09:01

How interesting Miss! I find looking at clothes on models much more difficult because I keep thinking about how SHE looks in it, and can't make the translation to me at all. Grin

ElizabethBathory · 11/12/2013 11:27

Face I'm the same as MissS, I find it hard to tell what clothes are like when they're not being worn. Though your board is far more useful than mine really cos you can tell where the clothes are from! I love the brooches too, esp the Rennie Mackintosh ones.

ElizabethBathory · 11/12/2013 11:35

LittleBabyPigsus have you looked at Mac Russian Red for a dark red lipstick? Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick in 01 is very very similar, but a tad brighter (and I hate the smell of it.)

ElizabethBathory · 11/12/2013 12:34

Would I be a bad winter if I bought this damson purse? I LOVE the leather colour, but it has gold hardwear (quite a pale, cool gold though??) and a dark brown strap...

MissScatterbrain · 11/12/2013 12:41

I think you'll get away with you being a sultry winter and also the gold hardwear is not shiny as ts been scruffed (not sure what the technical term is).

ElizabethBathory · 11/12/2013 12:49

Good point MissS, shiny gold would be much more obvious and harder to pull off. I have ordered it...just to have a look at it, mind Grin

QueenCadbury · 11/12/2013 13:33

Oh you bad winter elizabeth Grin.

Love your board face

My consultant said your colours should be 80% of what you are wearing, so a bit of a pattern is ok. Using that theory the bag is fine (although it is sold out- unless you bought it).

ElizabethBathory · 11/12/2013 16:00

Kosher thanks, I keep forgetting about the '80% rule'! I feel even better about it now. The bag was showing as sold out, but I emailed them to ask if they happened to have one lying around, and they do :)

givemeaminute · 11/12/2013 22:01

Thanks Jimjamatron ! I'll try those ones and see how I get on.

MissScatterbrain · 12/12/2013 14:48

Just had an email re Boden's sale - nothing for me but did see lots of pretty blouses...

KosherBacon · 12/12/2013 15:03

I didn't even bother looking. There was nothing tempting me before the sale and I often find the sale isn't as good value as some of the discount codes that are floating about.

GingerLemonTea · 14/12/2013 20:03

Bought this today...

scarf

QueenCadbury · 14/12/2013 20:53

Nice scarf ginger

I just can't get on with Boden. I've ordered a few things previously but never kept anything. Can't be arsed with it anymore although I do love browsing through the catalogue.

Elizabeth I find MAC lipstick too drying, sorry!

KosherBacon · 14/12/2013 23:55

I agree, mac lipstick is terribly drying.

QueenCadbury · 15/12/2013 07:45

This is interesting from London make up girl who was a bright winter and is now a zyla soft winter.

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 15/12/2013 07:48

Posted too soon! Her colours are now so different to her previous bright winter colours. I'm happy with the colours I've got but I'd almost be intrigued to see what a different system would put me in.

ElizabethBathory · 15/12/2013 08:06

That's strange Queen, you wouldn't think that golden greens, beiges and peacock would suit a winter, but she must be very in between seasons. Even if I hadn't had my colours done I know I'd look awful in those colours.

QueenCadbury · 15/12/2013 08:09

I'd look awful in beiges and golden tones too. Very odd how you can go from the bright colours to those.

OP posts:
ElizabethBathory · 15/12/2013 08:43

I also think the theory behind it seems a bit odd. If you wear colours that match the red of your fingertips, surely thats going to bring out every blotch and blemish in your skin? And, for example, my eyes look deep brown and striking in winter colours, but they have bits of sludgy, dull green in them as well as the brown, which comes out if I put khaki or gold next to them, making my whole face look washed out and weaker (because I don't have the warmth in my skin of an autumn, who would glow in those colours).

ElizabethBathory · 15/12/2013 09:38

Just realised I didn't explain my point about eyes very well - the theory she describes looks closely at eyes and picks out colours from them, but if those colours don't work with your skin that's not going to look great is it?
