Ah queenC I wouldn't worry, the whole point if quirky fashion is that not everyone should love it, if everyone loved/bought one they would lose their quirkiness and raisin d'être. I love my book bag but it's lost its shine one Charlotte olympias done them better, because it's old news. It was lulu Guinness but can't find a photo, this is a newer season one v similar! coincidentally styled with the kitty shoes linus !

Lulu Guinness is my guilty pleasure though, but I don't like the majority of her bags, they can be too "I'm mad, me!" I have a lot of her bedding and umbrellas though!

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2013 08:55

It's a great look Umlauf, I definitely couldn't do it, but it's fab if you do.

It's nice to have lots if styles on here.

OBface · 15/11/2013 09:28

Hello! Unlurking to ask what down coats (the couple of you that have mentioned you're waiting for) you went for? I spend many an hour during the winter waiting on a cold station platform and am a little worried at the news of the impending freeze!

Read far too many fashion blogs etc and love dropping in here every now and again for a skim. Thanks Smile

Umlauf · 15/11/2013 09:30

I'm loving the autocorrects in my post!

Raisin d'être!!! I've a funny image in my head now...

santamarianovella · 15/11/2013 09:52

Morning everyone!
I'm not a huge fan of the quirky evening bags, but many people look great wearing them
Like most of you,I'm still in love with the kitten slippers, but its too £££,

I prefer the bottega clutch ,they look really exquisite ,some of them have intricate designs, and McQueen skull clutches specially the elaborate ones, they are like little work of art,

umlauf I hope all the issues you are having with passports are resolved soon, and in regards to shopping with small babies,I found that taking dd shopping with me from 2 months to about 9 months, the easiest,it gets harder once they get older.

LinusDKD · 15/11/2013 09:55

I had a little chuckle as well reading that umlauf

OBface welcome.

I have a Moncler Genevrier waiting for me as a Christmas present (santa has got that one as well) but other contenders were the Aigle Cuckmere (bought by decam and/or anni) or the Barbour Peninsula.

amber has just blogged about the Barbour down coat she bought recently.

LinusDKD · 15/11/2013 10:19

Just finished watching The September Issue and it was very interesting. It even made me want to be 20 years younger and start a career in fashion. Grin

I have to say I have changed my mind about Anna Wintour (she will be so happy to hear that Wink )

She seems more vulnerable and a bit lonely as well. At the same time she is very determined and doesn't take any crap from designers/celebrities/photographers.

I guess my view of her was coloured by things I read about her (Devil wears Prada etc) and her rather forbidding looks.

Great businesswoman!

OBface · 15/11/2013 10:52

Linus am very jealous of your Moncler - not sure my budget will quite stretch that far (already overspent this season!). Enjoy it when it arrives.

Will look at the Aigle/Barbour options. Thanks.

Watched the September issue for the first time a couple of years ago but as DD is at kindergarten I might indulge myself again this morning Smile. Anna Wintour is such a character, agree definitely warmed to her after seeing SI.

santamarianovella · 15/11/2013 11:43

linus I'm gonna watch the September issue this afternoon, waiting for dd to nap! We should exchange notes!

OBface hi! If you want something as good as moncler ,I suggest trying maxmara down coats, they are extremely warm and very understated, for a down coat that is! I was planing on getting one,but DH got me the moncler instead,

Annianni · 15/11/2013 12:00

My duvet coat is an ancient Gap one.

It was Carrie I think who bought an Aigle recently.
Foxy has a Barbour one too.

QueenCadbury · 15/11/2013 12:29

marsha is there anything on atterly road that takes your fancy for your lunch outfit?

LinusDKD · 15/11/2013 13:11

LinusDKD · 15/11/2013 13:13

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2013 13:46

Good idea QueenC will have a look. Need to kick dh off mac, my turn to have a wayward dh at home Grin

shopafrolic · 15/11/2013 13:53

Love both of those Linus thanks - I'll take a look this weekend.

Drywhiteplease · 15/11/2013 14:02

Linus just ordered the big Zara scarf....looks fab, fingers crossed, lovely colours. Thanks for enabling.......naughty!

justasecond · 15/11/2013 14:26

Ooh I do like that Zara one. Let us know what it is like Dry
I think this is quite nice too although more traditional, as usual ignore the crap styling www.marksandspencer.com/Best-British-Heritage-Checked-Scarf/dp/B0023UBCHU?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_35&nodeId=3147183031&sr=1-35&qid=1384525152
Marsha that Mango dress is nice, in my head you look like Gwyneth Paltrow (in a good way) therefore it will look great on you!

Drywhiteplease · 15/11/2013 14:30

Love those colours Justa

Home early, skipping gym, feel wiped out...just snuggled up under duvet for a quick siesta and next door have workmen sawing tiles on their drive Sad

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 15/11/2013 14:53

Earplugs dry

Lovely colours justa but wrong for me, like the scarves I linked.

this makes me shudder.

Thinking of that around my neck makes me feel unwell.

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2013 14:56

Thanks Justa I'm a tad scruffier than Gwynnie! But yes it's nice, I'd get it if it wasn't poly, but was silk. Although might be a bit cold on the arms.

I've found a couple of options. But they are quite expensive considering, so have to be right. Will put them on mnv for your honest opinions please!

Me too Linus.

foxysocks · 15/11/2013 14:59

no workmen here today! so so quiet .

am looking at flights to india. gulp.

Mignonette · 15/11/2013 15:03

Linus I thought that about Anna Wintour also. In the September Issue she talked about her high flying brother and sister who both do 'worthy' jobs. How wistful Anna looked as she spoke of how she thought they were 'amused' by what she does. And her daughter seemed a little dismissive (as the young often are of their parents) of what her Mothers industry is. I felt warm towards her too. I think she is one of the most powerful and influential people in the world and because she is female, has any foibles less tolerated than a man would.

You must all watch 'Madame C'. I have just treated myself to an afternoon viewing of it and watching Karl Lagerfield interact w/ children and puch Carinne's baby Grandaughter's pram is great fun. How different he is to his print image. Also the quote by the undoubtedly sexy Ms Roitfield - "I put the G in the Pussy" in that French/Russian accent. She styled that infamous Gucci shoot. You see her with her new baby GD, emotional and everybody states how respectful she is to all, irrespective of status-she evern takes an unknown fashion student into a show with her when he approaches her in the street. She is my absolute girl crush.

Gush, gush, gush.

Umlauf That book bag would look really cool with the skinnies, your Moncler, ankle boots and pulled back hair (ponytail) worn with a bright lip. I'veseen a pic in the usual place of you in most of that look and I like a juxtaposed evening bag with daytime clothing.

I have an acid yellow perspex clutch by some brand i don't know called Beth J. It needs to be worn on sunny days only and got a lot of use when I was in Corsica and Verdun Gorge last summer. It suits navy and I wore it with a navy faded V neck T and art deco beige, black and navy sequinned above the knee skirt. It got quite a few appreciative glances. I also have some Merci soft lambskin fold clutches, a Red leather fold clutch and a lovely Straw fan shaped one which is ancient. Those are my favourites.

santamarianovella · 15/11/2013 15:59

Finished the September issue, and this is what I thought of it:

Anna is a nice person, she is a perfectionist in her job,and clearly is the right person for that job.

Anna is so powerful, big names in retail ask for her help! That part where the CEO of neimanmarcus asks for her help was like A scene from the godfather!

Anna is so influential huge designers ask her what looks should make the cut for their fashion shows, not to mention, they all look nervous around her!

I should start investing in chanel and Oscar d la renta, the pieces that were shown in that documentary are a few years old,but they would still look great now,

And not everyone dresses that nicely at vogue, thought it would be like DWP,but its not.

Grace coddington is an inspiration,a genius and the true star of the September issue.

I dont think I would want to work there,to be honest!

So much has changed since tha documentary! Lacriox closed his business, John galliano is no longer at Dior, and a whole new wave of bloggers are becoming more influential ,and can do the work of an entire vogue team, with out the vogue budget! Would love to hear Anna's and grace thoughts on that?

mig will download, Madame C for tonight!

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2013 16:15

Really want to watch it now! Will download from itunes.

Thanks for dress feedback. I agree on both. I think I'm hesitating for the reasons you've all said. Neither are completely right. Will keep looking.
