Ok. I need help to find a wedding dress. THAT looks weird written down.

I seem, despite my best intentions, to be getting married next year, and I need a dress.

I want something very much like this (particularly the sleeves)- I am flexible on colour, but have a budget of £500.

Has anyone seen anything similar?

I was hoping to get something made, but it looks like it might be too costly an option- so any recommendations for a good but cheap London based dressmaker also gratefully received Smile

Ok, so from now on I just want a cream dress. A long, cream dress.

Too right! If pressed it's for a black tie ball, natch.

You could try contacting ISSA direct? I was in a similar situation for my wedding - fell in love with a non wedding dress that I could only find in a size 8. I ended up with something else but I tried everything to get the first one! Have you tried overseas? I'm just having a look on a couple of the US dept stores for you.

eurochick · 09/11/2013 18:36

I see baby barrister has beaten me to that one while I was snooping around the bloomingdales site!

LondonInHighHeeledBoots · 09/11/2013 18:56

Where are you? I have the number of a v good and cheap dressmaker if you are in/would be able or willing to go to sw London, and where she is based there are loada and loads of fabric shops so you should be able to find the right fabric there too.

tethersend · 09/11/2013 19:04

London, I'm in east London, but work in SW, so that could work well- thank you Smile

Babybarrister, thank you so much, no rush at all.

Thanks for looking everyone Smile

I checked Bloomies, Saks and Neiman Marcus, btw - no dice.

LondonInHighHeeledBoots · 09/11/2013 20:50

have pm'd you. Smile

Have been thinking about this (work avoidance tactic), and was wondering if could take a too-long dress and have the sleeves made from the extra fabric. I am sending back a Whistles dress I would need about 30cm cut off the bottom. For example, this is super-long on the model:

I think I'll have another stab at getting one made, unless I can track the Issa dress down in my size somewhere.

Thanks again for looking everyone Smile

Congratulations Tethers. FWIW, I find Issa's silk jersey dresses come up on the big side

UsedToBeNDP · 12/11/2013 13:52

Just in case you do find the dress and wonder re sizing

SthingMustBeScaringThemAway · 12/11/2013 13:53

D'you know - I woke up in the middle of the night and wondered if it might have been helpful to actually show the Issa people this thread....

I spend too much time here.

MrsLettuce · 12/11/2013 21:02

Er, right, well, I wasn't actually looking for you at all and this is more or less totally off brief, but, well, that colour. So, yeah here.

Ah, bollocks to Issa- mind you, I don't think they'll be troubled by mumsnet Grin

Thanks for the link, MrsLettuce, but I can't wear any style pre-1966 Wink
