Ok. I need help to find a wedding dress. THAT looks weird written down.

I seem, despite my best intentions, to be getting married next year, and I need a dress.

I want something very much like this (particularly the sleeves)- I am flexible on colour, but have a budget of £500.

Has anyone seen anything similar?

I was hoping to get something made, but it looks like it might be too costly an option- so any recommendations for a good but cheap London based dressmaker also gratefully received Smile

tethers, have you gotten any further with your dress dilemma?

Oooh, interesting- which Issa one do you like?

Tether, your post could have been written by me and ladies thank you, the Issa wrap job looks like it might be perfect with the ghost one a good runner up. Both approved by dd which is crucial. Hi ho hi ho it's off to selfridges I go...

That's was kind of where I was going with the leotard - if the lighter weight material appealed then it would be easier to add a sleeve (as you are unlikely to match the material of a bought dress)

But that does leave the problem of the cuff but if the dress you buy is even 2 or 3 inches too long you would be sorted

That's not a bad idea, Jayne.

Another idea is to buy a dress you like with straps and get sleeves put on. I did this though with different style sleeves

I think the type of sleeve you want is called a bishops sleeve.
Unless you want it puffy at the shoulder seam too in which case it's a peasant sleeve

Sorry miss Bartlett, that is correct- cuffs not deep enough.

DVF any good? Guessing the cuffs aren't deep enough?

Congratulations! If you are completely set on a particular style, getting it made is the best option, and not necessarily more expensive than off the peg.

Thanks 99 Smile

I think I'm going to have to get one made. Am getting a bit excited now, though.

If you consider a lightinthebox option do not forget to factor in tax which will be charged on arrival. Stunning, stunning dress and congratulations.

Thanks Succubi- bit weddingy. I don't want any lace or a train.

Not fixed on colour or material, although quite like silk jersey, but am fixed on length and sleeve style. It must have a deep cuff and puffy sleeves, which is why it seems better to get one made...

Are you fixed on a colour or a material (not brushed cottonWink)

It does, Mortified.

Thanks anyway.

Christ, that last one is damn near perfect- apart from the sleeves. And the fact that I'd struggle to get one leg in it Grin
