Max Mara coat but primark budget?

I love the quality and warmth of a wool coat a la Max Mara, but also have a budget that doesn't allow me to have one. I've stalked eBay but haven't found anything in my winter colours in a 14-16.

I don't like the boxy cut of Cos et al as I want a classic shape that will last a few seasons.

Who else does nice wool warm winter coats? Or where can I get a Max Mara coat for a lot less.

M&S? What colour are you after?

M&S coats tend to be 99% polyester/ acrylic and 1% wool and not warm at all.

I am looking for something in black, navy, plum, red, blue, emerald or other good HoC winter colour.

Have you looked at mainstream, department store brands like Windsmoor? I have a gorgeous Windsmoor coat (wool and cashmere) bought in the John Lewis sale.

Bear in mind that MaxMara sizes come up really big, so that you could probably do 12-14.

I would just keep your eye on ebay, something may come up.

Yep eBay. Kicking myself 2 weeks ago when I lost a max Mara coat (1000+) for the sake of 5 quid because my auto-sniper went off too early.

Massimo Dutti have some good, wool-heavy coats. Quite classic, long-lasting styles, IMO

Pure Collection have a nice classic looking cat in navy or pink here. I find their quality very good.

Hobbs is worth a look, though quite pricey now, and definitely Jaeger in the sale or at an outlet (the website usually has offers). Also try yoox.com which is last season's designer stuff, and which seems to be having quite a few promotions at the moment.

The only place you will get a wool coat for a Primarni price is TKMaxx.If you are prepared to wait for the sales Jaeger,Hobbs and Phase 8 are good buys.Secondly Laura ashley often do Maxmara type coats at a really good price and seem to have frequent reductions.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but this www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/080484 (mostly) wool coat from Uniqlo is classic, and feels beautifully soft. I bought a navy one this week, and it's a good shape, and a useful length.

Thanks, I've looked at Zara and don't really think they are my style. They are either camel or black and are either cut too boxy or a bit like dressing gowns. I think I am too boring in taste for them.

I live near the Lowry outlet in Salford who have Windsmoor and Austin Reed shops so might go nosey this week.
