Aveda Shampoo, Best Shampoo Ever.

I live in a very hard water area and find all shampoos much of a much-ness tbh. I've used cheap and expensive and never find the pricy ones much better than mid range.

But but but - I am using Aveda clove and it is absolutely gorgeous and is making my dark flyaway hair look and feel totally totally lovely.

Just had to share. Are their other shampoos as good?

I have very dark brown, almost black hair - I take it Black Malva is the one for me? I love the smell of cloves though!

AngieM2 · 01/11/2013 09:02

I used the Clove one....agree it's great value as the big one lasts a year BUT....it drove my scalp mad with itching, really irritated me.

GeekInThePink · 01/11/2013 09:06

Oh I'm going to have to go in there aren't i? :(

WildThongsHeartString · 01/11/2013 10:06

Oh no! I've just ordered the Clove one, I hope it doesn't make me itchy

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 01/11/2013 12:21

sodium chloride anyone?

Theonlyoneiknow · 01/11/2013 18:00

Is it cheaper to buy online rather than in stores? The salon I go to only uses Aveda products but I've never bought them yet, you lot have inspired me. My hair is so thin and frail! And have lots of baby hair at the front by my fringe.

WildThongsHeartString · 01/11/2013 18:49

I ordered my from Look Fantastic through Quidco so I get a few pounds cashback that way.

RobinVanPrissy · 02/11/2013 08:32

I use the rosemary one for coloured hair. Only wash my hair once a week (wet and lightly condition every day - not a skank, just found this method helps preserve my colour better) so it lasts for ages. Lovely. Will never go back to cheapo shampoo again.

Theonlyoneiknow · 02/11/2013 09:45

I have very thin coloured hair (highlights) and it needs strengthening, was thinking about damage remedy conditioner but wasn't sure what shampoo?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 04/11/2013 14:13

sigh, nobody ever notices me Smile wonder if the ingredients are online... off to google

ArtemisatBrauron · 04/11/2013 14:15

stepaway I have the Black Malva one and there is sodium chloride in it, are you allergic?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 05/11/2013 13:06

Thanks, no not allergic, I have a brazilian keratin treatment and can't use anything with it in as it strips the keratin out.

HomerPigeon · 06/11/2013 06:10

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes, I read a recommendation on MN for the Organix shampoo from a Mner who has the Brazilian treatment, and I got the Organix shampoo (though I don't have the Brazilian thing). I used to use Aveda but can't really justify £18 a bottle any more. The Organix is £6.99 in Boots and sometimes on 3 for 2. It is really lovely and I honestly can't tell the difference in my hair (though I still love the gorgeous scents of the Aveda range).

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/11/2013 09:28

thanks homer, I tried the organix brazilian one and it was horrid on my hair, left it all coarse and matted, the cherry blossom one was much better though. I am trying a boots naked at the moment but liked the sound of the damage repair aveda one.I am in pursuit of the holy grail of hair product at the moment since I had a bleach bath to take out my too dark colour and go a shade or two lighter. regretted it since as its stripped my hair to straw Sad

FoxPass · 06/11/2013 13:32

I use Body Shop Rainforest range shampoo on my keratined hair, it's lovely.

I use Aveda clove conditioner to help cover my first greys. I have dark brown hair with warm tones and it makes them quite gingery but it does cover them so I don't have to dye them. It takes a few washes to build up cover.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/11/2013 17:55

ooh body shop, will look at that ta

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/11/2013 20:07

fox I just read the ingredients for the body shop shampoo and its got sodium chloride listed which is what you are meant to avoid with keratin treatment. just thought I would alert you.

AngieM2 · 06/11/2013 20:15

stepaway i've had the Brazillian done - in August - and the treatment drove my head and neck mad with itching. I used the shampoo recommended with the kit (white bottle), it also drove me mad itching. Ive since moved to Tresemme Keratin smooth and its been tons better...and fine to use with the Brazillian.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 08/11/2013 17:29

Thanks Angie sainsburys own kids shampoo is cheap and nice too, very gentle and smells yum.

Theonlyoneiknow · 27/11/2013 21:35

If you have coloured and very fine, easily breakable hair would you use a colour shampoo and strengthening conditioner, or strengthening shampoo and conditioner? Does a colour shampoo make a difference? Thanks

EustaciaVye · 27/11/2013 21:37

The only one I know - my hairdresser yesterday told me to use a strengthening shampoo rather than a colour one
