A happy and safe place to talk fashion (from high end to high street), beauty and the arts. All welcome to bring a positive state of mind, lots of links and an eye for detail.

Space love the jumper! Top great too. I think the bag's a good size, grab handle/totes are bigger anyway. The shoulder bag I'm using every day measures 35cm across and I love it's roominess. Think yours is lovely.

shopafrolic · 27/09/2013 20:12

Bloody hell you lot! No wonder I usually check in 5 or more times a day. Impossible to keep up.
firstly thanks for the PMs those who were worried about me. All fine, just lots of things suddenly developing on the house sale front. Lots to think about, but yes Anni, Dry et al, I love our home, and we won't get the level of character we have here again, so lots to consider.......v scared.
Linus your outfit ideas sound fab, you have great style - I love beautiful silk blouses, skinny jeans or slim trousers and heels and a beautiful bag on nights like that but I'm not big on dresses as I always feel overdressed.
Novice I love her. And I love how you talk about your girl crushes. One of my aims in life is now to become one of your crushes but I fear my clothing budget may not allow it to happen Grin
Dry love your kitchen, all coming on isn't it. We may have to sell our kitchen dresser if we move :(
MrsR will bring the t and the cardigan to MU
Welcome Whatowear and welcome back Space
Sorry to all I have missed

My DH's father went bankrupt years ago and it has made a massive impact in how he views money. His sole goal is to be mortgage free, sometimes at the expense of holidays etc. So I completely get the serious faces over credit card bills etc. I struggle to get DH to pay out over £30 for a meal out and have to keep quiete about lots of what I spend!! He's getting better but it's an uphill struggle!
Have decided to keep the Whistles scarf now I've tried it with some other things. And I am absolutely in love with my Dagmar sweater. It is heading for the wash tomorrow, I'm a bit scared!

Amber I hope you get a breather to recover - sounds stressful

Thanks dry, that's reassuring. Hopefully I'll get used to it - Was a bit worried the bag would arrive 5 minutes before I did!

I'm on a roll now, I might have to warn my DH that further purchases will be made. I haven't bought much in the last 4 years so my wardrobe needs a complete overhaul...

SpaceIsBig · 27/09/2013 20:20

I will need to learn to type faster - by the time I've posted I've missed another 5 posts!

BrandyAlexander · 27/09/2013 20:40

Oh Amber, you poor poor thing! Plenty of rest for you I think!

Welcome to Spaces and Whattowear!

Shop Grin

When we bought current house, dh was obsessed with paying off mortgage. We both get salary during year and then lump sum at the end of the year. For 6 years, we didn't spend the lump sum. This year,I finally spent a small amount of it on my little sprees after we had paid off the mortgage in full and he was still pursing lips because we should be saving for next house.Hmm

Drywhiteplease · 27/09/2013 20:43

Space fast typing has got me into all sorts of bother!Grin
linus there's an airport near me! pop over I'll lend you the trousers!! Grin

Money wise......my parents were hopeless with money, didn't have any at all (long story), often borrowed my pocket money for petrol (didn't really mind), we had crap cars that always broke down when my father eventually got his first new car, a Proton Shock he'd disappear for hours and we'd find him in it just playing with the buttons !! my mother was v chic and a dab hand with a sewing machine.......but I had a great childhood with a lot of love and time........I'm rubbish with money too.
DH father v stressed accountant and businessman, into sensible saving and investing, MIL would never spend on frivolous fashion a good quality pleated skirt can last 40 yrs .thank goodness I met DH, but I like my own money so he doesn't know what I spend!!!!!!

shopafrolic · 27/09/2013 20:44

My DH earns lots more than most of our friend's combined salaries, and yet you'd think we were struggling the way he talks.... I shouldn't complain though, if I was left in charge of our money we'd be bankrupt too! :)

I am celebrating tonight as I've had my stitches out and can now shave under my arm! I can barely contain my glee as I hate having hairy armpits! Grin

LinusDKD · 27/09/2013 20:54

dry checking flights as we speak Wink

DH is very responsible with money (he is itching to be able to pay a whole chunk of the mortgage but he'll have to wait a few more years as we only bought the house last year) but he is very generous as well. I have been know to overspend but I really try not to nowadays. Don't always succeed though.

one yay on shaving armpits!

shopafrolic · 27/09/2013 21:00

My last post sounded totally wanky - wasn't supposed to. I just mean I have no boundaries, he's tight (understandably) we balance each other out!

shop i know what your dh feels,my dh accepted an offer two months before most of the employers got redundant including his friend,he made a lucky escape, but it has affected him ,we live very comfortably but we try to save as much as we can, compared to our friends im not a big spender.

linus i think i would go with skinnies and a silk top,and maybe those amazing loubs heels you have.

space lovely jumper.

Drywhiteplease · 27/09/2013 21:08

No Shop sounded ok to me.

santamarianovella · 27/09/2013 21:11

it sounded fine to me shop,

shopafrolic · 27/09/2013 21:13

Thanks guys. Wine makes me type first, think later. And this house stuff has added to the worries.....

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 27/09/2013 21:16

To me too shop

santa there's nothing stealth about the Loubs Wink

santamarianovella · 27/09/2013 21:28

stealth or not i would still wear the loubs! Grin thats my thing everything is simple but the shoes, they have to be very high to disguise the big height difference between me and dh

LinusDKD · 27/09/2013 21:46

DH is a shorty like me so we don't have that problem. Wink

BrandyAlexander · 27/09/2013 21:49

Dh is just under 6ft. I am just under 5'2". Those 4 inch heels definitely close the gap!Grin

OneLittleLady · 27/09/2013 21:49

There's over a foot difference between me and DP. It has not been a one off occurrence for people to mistake him for my dad/uncle/older brother Hmm

santamarianovella · 27/09/2013 22:04

i need heels,he's is 6"3 and im 5"5.

MrsSheepiness · 27/09/2013 22:43

Evening all, just checking in to say that I had my colours done this morning and I am now an autumn, previously a CMB spring. I feel a bit in limbo land, although I never got to grips with the very brights into previous pallet I just can't get my head around my new colours, just tried to buy a few bits in the Atterley road 25% off thing and failed spectacularly! Are there any other autumns on the thread with any links to share? I would particularly like kingfisher and some greens as they are my best colours.

For anyone that is interested the M&S sale started tonight, a previous Vogue favourite the snakeskin slippers are reduced too.
