Help me find a cocoon coat

I need a new winter coat, and I have always liked cocoon coats. Any colour, as long as it isn't black. I'd like it to have full-length sleeves, be no shorter than just above the knee and if at all possible, to have a collar. Any ideas, S & B gurus?

I forgot to say, budget is up to £300.

Ooh, thank you you lovely people.
They are all beautiful, though I fear the first one is probably too short (I will freeze to death in a mid-thigh coat I think). I keep saying I don't want red (never wear it) but that third one is calling to me. Decisions decisions.

I've found this: lovely, but red, and this. I like the teal colour, but does it look at bit 'old biddy' with that prim collar?

I like both but would avoid a one way zip as they can give/break at the bottom.

Go for buttons or a two way zip that can be undone at the bottom to allow more movement.

I like the coat from etsy - it's nice and simple which help to highlight the cut of the coat.

EldritchCleavage · 13/09/2013 10:58

I think the etsy one is edge-to-edge, ie. no fastenings, which is not v warm, especially on windy days.

Ooh I was going to post a similar thread...

I totally covet that mink-coloured Jaeger one, but it is 'double-faced' or, like Eldritch says, edge-to-edge and so has no fastenings, nor lining for that matter.

Beautiful colour and shape, but just not practical as a main winter coat.

Anyone seen anything similar, particularly that colour which would make a change from my usual camel?

SundaySimmons · 13/09/2013 12:24

I had an edge to edge coat years ago and overlapped the edges and sewed on large hook and eyes.

I'm also looking for a cocoon coat - in grey preferably. Haven't seen one though so can't help! There are some nice coats in Cos though, have you looked at those? see here

That Maggio one is beautiful

EldritchCleavage · 13/09/2013 15:40

Aha, Sunday, I am pondering that now...

I saw the Cos ones, and there is a cocoon coat but very dark navy. I was hoping for something more jazzy colourwise.

here is a grey cocoon coat, though the sleeves are too short for my liking.

SundaySimmons · 13/09/2013 15:57

The red one is made to order so why don't you ask her if she can make you one that does up?

I love it!

noddyholder · 13/09/2013 16:06

noddyholder · 13/09/2013 16:06

Tried [http://maboutique.co.uk/en/gerard-darel-funnel-neck-tulip-coat.html this one]] on over the weekend. I looked rotund. I may have to rethink the whole cocoon coat concept. Bah.

I have my eye on the Zara one too Noddy I like this one in grey from French connection - I know not a cocoon coat but maybe worth a nose!

snowlie · 16/09/2013 06:55

The Avoca coat makes the model look chunky. What body shape is best suited to this kind of coat?

SoupDragon · 16/09/2013 07:11

The Etsy one does have a row of buttons on it but only overlaps by about an inch.
