Help me find a cocoon coat

I need a new winter coat, and I have always liked cocoon coats. Any colour, as long as it isn't black. I'd like it to have full-length sleeves, be no shorter than just above the knee and if at all possible, to have a collar. Any ideas, S & B gurus?

The coat covers a multitude of upper body shapes but I don't think it would look right on thick/fat legs.

tethersend · 16/09/2013 11:40

not a jazzy colour, but good cut

tethersend · 16/09/2013 11:42

Sorry, linked already.

Will look again.

tethersend · 16/09/2013 11:49

has this one been linked?

EldritchCleavage · 16/09/2013 12:18

Trouble is, I'm beige coloured already. If I wore a coat the colour of that Jaeger one I'd look like a walking poo.

So have you changed your mind about a cocoon coat?

EldritchCleavage · 16/09/2013 15:09

Trouble is, I'm in love with one that is too expensive and not available in my size. I can't get it out of my mind. It's ruining all other coats for me. It's this one.

Do you think if I emailed the company and was really really grovelly, they'd just send me one? It is last season's, after all.

tethersend · 16/09/2013 15:13

Ah fuck, that is lovely.

Will try and find similar. What size are you?

EldritchCleavage · 16/09/2013 15:19

You are very kind. I kiss you all over your face (as I say to my children).

Do that if I find something Grin

As an aside, do you like this? it's maternity, but I'm just about to ebay one in a 16.

tethersend · 16/09/2013 15:25

lovely vintage coat, nothing like you asked for

tethersend · 16/09/2013 15:34

grey again

EldritchCleavage · 16/09/2013 15:34

I do like the maternity one and even the vintage one a bit. I need knee length and long sleeves to avoid freezing to death though.

this one is nice, for anyone who likes pink.

topshop?

EldritchCleavage · 16/09/2013 17:05

Not enough wool to be warm enough I think tethers.

OP posts:
tethersend · 16/09/2013 17:11

this?

tethersend · 16/09/2013 17:11

Bollocks, it's out of stock, ignore.

tethersend · 16/09/2013 17:21

too black?

What colour are you after BTW?

Could you put on a couple of stone? Grin

tethersend · 16/09/2013 17:39

Why are they ALL GREY?!

EldritchCleavage · 16/09/2013 18:20

Any colour except:

I'm avoiding black, dark navy and grey because those are the colours I wear to work and having a coat like that as well would just be too dreary. I'm also avoiding purple because the coat I'm replacing is purple and I need a change.

God, I sound so fussy! It's because I buy quality and wear daily, keep for years so I have to like it and it has to last. I have got a beautiful grey-green Cerruti coat that is now about 15 years old and not really smart any more (badly wearing on sleeves and lapels and hem), so no good for work. That pre-dated the purple coat, which is about 9 years old, also wearing and not really warm enough-I really suffered last winter.

The hard thing is before husband and children I could please myself-I would throw a daft amount of money at the problem and end up with a gorgeous coat. Now my money is family money I can't justify that, but equally I haven't really adjusted to having to buy cheaper clothes. And yes, I know that's a 'first world problem' and I sound spoilt. But work clothes are my armour, I neeeeeeeed to feel smart and confident.

Bollocks.

Stuff it. This is taking up far too much space in my head. I've just bought the teal one I linked to on Friday at 10:21 because (i) there was only one left and it was now or never; and (ii) they reduced it by 20%. If I hate it, I'll just have to send it back.

Thanks for all your coat search linky efforts, tethers.

I'm still going, just in case that one's not right Grin
