Out of all of the the only one I would even consider is the first one.

What are your plans re jacket etc castles can be cold drafty things

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:20

Thanks Inneed.

I haven't thought this through have I? I always do this - leave it until last minutes and panic.

I don't have a smart jacket. Reckon I'm just going to have to go to the city and try things on.

Agree with Ineed that only the first one is remotely okay. Have you seen it irl? Is the fabric nice? Do you know what anybody else is planning to wear?

7to25 · 08/09/2013 16:23

Castle in Italy or Scotland?

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:26

It's in England.

I am pretty clueless. Glad I posted though as at least I know that these dresses are a no-no. Smile

Aiden Maddox's dresses are definitely not my cup of tea! First one had the best potential but I'd be worried about the quality of the material, I'm afraid.

GemmaTeller · 08/09/2013 16:28

number one, but also get a shawl/pashmina

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 16:29

Nice but black

GemmaTeller · 08/09/2013 16:30

same but lilac

BellaVita · 08/09/2013 16:30

If any, no1.

BellaVita · 08/09/2013 16:32

The Coast one is much nicer.

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:32

Remus and Gemma - I do like that dress in the lilac but out of stock in my size/s.

Another one saying no. 1, at a push.

It's obviously formal dress? Will you have to go outside or is it all indoors? You might need some kind of a cover-up.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 16:36

Another black one available in a 14 and cheap.

LillyNotOfTheValley · 08/09/2013 16:37

Are you sure you want to go for a long dress OP? IME guests at these weddings tend to go for knee long dresses + jacket/coat (matching or not). That would be a much safer option if you do not know what others are planning on wearing!
You can draw inspiration from Reiss, all castle weddings I have been to this summer featured their entire collection.

Long dresses are normally worn from cocktail hour on, very rarely at the ceremony (except bridesmaids), which means that people change in between. So I would say itis risky to go for that, but it might be just my circle.

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:41

I've got a couple of posh shawls - one in silver and one in black. I'm happy to buy in another colour though.

Remus - that planet one is lovely. A 14 would be far too big, I'm just wondering if the 10 would fit.

And, is it okay to wear black at a wedding?

I'm used to summer weddings and shorter dresses. By October, my legs need to be covered.

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:42

Lilly - thanks for posting. Are tights okay then if I wear a short dress?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 16:42

What's your budget, OP?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 16:43

Sorry - mixed you up with a size 14 person! Will look again.

NewNameforNewTerm · 08/09/2013 16:44

I'd be checking out the castle's website for access as well. I had a great pair of heels, but the wedding was several floors up in a medieval keep! I dislike these types of stairs at the best of times, but in high heels I was terrified I'd fall and break my neck, or trip one of my children! If I'd known I would have worn flats for the wedding and maybe changed into heels for the reception.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2013 16:45

Oh and Planet stuff comes up v big .

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:45

Budget? I suppose about £150, but that would include accessories if I needed to buy new. If I wear a shorter dress and tights, I will definitely need new shoes.

I do prefer shorter dresses.

Phase Eight have some lovely dresses.

Yama · 08/09/2013 16:52

Thanks for the advise NewName.

It's the groom I'm good friends with so although I can phone him and ask advice on such matters, he may be as clueless as me. Grin

I linked to the long dresses going off your first post Yama, but personally would go for a shorter dress if that's what you prefer, more fitting for I wedding guest I think.
