in today's Guardian. I hope not, I don't think I like any of them. Where have buttons gone this season?

They are awful. Everyone seems to want a pink coat this season. Pale sickly pink that suits virtually nobody.

Bunbaker · 06/09/2013 18:33

I like the green duffle coat and the M and S one but don't like the colour of it. The rest are awful.

MarshaBrady · 06/09/2013 18:35

The Guardian isn't great at fashion. Their Saturday magazine style part always makes me think of me of lentils.

Franup · 06/09/2013 18:50

The gap one and the whistles one are lovely and I have been lusting over them. They have been featured in loads of magazines before the Guardian featured them as have the pink zara and pink M&S ones - pink is massive this season for coats. And the Guardian Saturday style journalist isn't a frump or into lentils.

Chelvis · 06/09/2013 19:51

Oh yuck! I love the duffel coat, but all those shapeless boxy ones look like something Viv Nichols or Myra Hindley would wear. I can't believe anyone looks good in that sort of shape.

catham · 06/09/2013 19:54

i predict everyone will be wearing pink coats this autumn.

ubik · 06/09/2013 19:56

I like the Jaeger one

Blush
ouryve · 06/09/2013 19:58

Do the people who chose these coats ever actually spend any time outside in winter? The duffel coats and the red Zara coat look fab for general warmth, so long as they're isn't much wet going on. The rest look about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

MarshaBrady · 06/09/2013 20:00

I don't mind lentils as it goes. But prefer the ST Style.

Myra Hindley, oh dear!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/09/2013 20:01

I read the guardian, have no waist and love the oversized look and even I'm struggling to like any of those. There is really no excuse for pink Shock

ouryve · 06/09/2013 20:02

I predict the sale racks will be full of pink coats next Spring. Especially the ones that look like dressing gowns.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2013 20:04

I think that they are all absolutely repulsive.

coffeeinbed · 06/09/2013 20:06

they usually have a couple of something vearable, a few hideous directional ones, something cheap, something eyewateringly expensive.
yawn...

Tweet2tweet · 06/09/2013 20:09

Aarghhh, sleeveless coat. Noo, I have always failed to see any justification for a sleeveless coat. A bit like peep toe boots. Utterly useless.

Lagoonablue · 06/09/2013 20:20

Hideous. I like the duffle but the rest are boxy 80s style. Not for me.

Annianni · 06/09/2013 20:26

I've tried the Gap one, the fabric's cheap and scratchy.
And the press studs make it look rubbish when the coat's open.

If it was single breasted, it would look better on.

theidsalright · 06/09/2013 20:43

Hmm, well I really like most of them, although pink is not my colour. I already have a few coats that shape, so I'm pleased.

I am an almost 40year old dedicated guardian reader, who LOVES the guardian style section. Hah!

littlemisswise · 06/09/2013 20:47

Are we really going to see loads of women walking round in pink coats this year? I'm not joining in and I don't mind a bit of pink.

Bunbaker · 06/09/2013 20:55

"I have always failed to see any justification for a sleeveless coat. A bit like peep toe boots."

Or 3/4 length sleeves.

littlemisswise · 06/09/2013 21:12

Isn't a sleeveless coat a gilet? Or a body warmer as my mother would say!

PrincessRomy · 06/09/2013 21:19

That m and s pink coat is really doing my head in now, and I've not even seen it in rl yet.

theladylovescupcakes · 06/09/2013 22:01

I love the green Topshop coat, but no sign of it on the website. Why do they do that?!?

ProtectiveMother · 07/09/2013 13:13

Thanks ouryve for giving me a good laugh!

AmandaHoldenmigroin · 07/09/2013 13:26

No those are the top coats from companies who's pr had enough money to pay for them to be in there. That checked one by Gianni is hideous. And why would anyone wear a cocoon coat - seriously, a coat that makes you look bigger? Why?

SundaySimmons · 07/09/2013 13:33

My god, what a hideous collection of coats!

I like the Gloverall Duffle coat, the red Zara one and the Gap camel car coat. The rest should go in the bin or be worn by market stall holders to keep them warm
