Beautiful oversized scarf

Where can I find a nice large and soft scarf for autumn?

Natural fabric would be best (wool, cashmere, silk mixes or maybe viscose)

I need it to lift my usually black/grey/navy dresses and coat /jacket but also need it for bf when out and about.

(Posted this by mistake in the tack room before I was fully awake Blush Grin.

Well some of those horse's blankets do look jolly nice!

What's your budget please?

gucci

mcqueen

Or Lily & Lionel do lovely scarves too.

I don't like viscose personally, prefer a wool/silk/cashmere mix

bunnymother · 25/08/2013 08:56

I only plan to buy wool/cashmere / silk /cotton too. All my modal and viscose ones go floppy.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 25/08/2013 08:57

Marking place as was wondering this very thing yesterday.

petrock · 25/08/2013 09:02

TK Maxx was great for this sort of thing last year, I found a beautiful emerald cashmere / wool shawl.

Curleyhazel · 25/08/2013 09:05

I am willing to spend up to £ 80. 00. I have a couple of lily and Lionel ones and yes they are lovely.

Was thinking about a every dark purple but quite large cashmere type of thing...

Love the McQueen one

Curleyhazel · 25/08/2013 09:15

And I like the Gucci one! The colours are lovely.

Oh the Gucci scarves are exquisite but of course £££. I couldn't see how much the one you liked to is though but is probably out my league.

TK Maxx is brilliant for scarves and M&S have the odd really good one. I also like Warehouse scarves, but they will probably all be viscose.

bunnymother · 25/08/2013 11:55

Anything in Massimo Dutti that you like? They often use natural fibres.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2013 11:56

Cos

noddyholder · 25/08/2013 12:19

I have the cos one from last year its similar pattern but navy and grey Its nice

Curleyhazel · 25/08/2013 12:39

Oh I saw that Cos one and really didn't like the fabric - felt quite strange, like webbing or something. The weave is very loose. Sorry, that's just it seemed to me. Does it feel nice on?

aoife24 · 25/08/2013 16:45

Becksondergaard do large scarves in silk and wool/silk. Expensive but lovely.

bunnymother · 25/08/2013 17:04

This Beck. one is beautiful: www.becksondergaard.com/shop/woman/e-mountain-scarf

Crutchlow35 · 25/08/2013 17:34

I adore that McQueen one. Off to search. What's the bets it is hugely expensive though.

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2013 17:38

Another poster urging you towards TK Maxx.

Though I've noticed that young persons are moving towards a bright, silk square, knotted jauntily at the breast-bone. And, alarmingly, the Guardian claim the over-size scarf is waving "adieu".

In which case, look out for pretty Moschino silk squares in T K Maxx, or have a look on the Joules website.

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2013 17:41

... and Liberty. Liberty is pretty much the home of scarves. Of all persuasions. And some of them are genuine "investment pieces"* because they are little pieces of art.

*a phrase that usually makes me curl my lip with derision.

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2013 17:44

Liberty

MarshaBrady · 25/08/2013 17:45

Yep Liberty is a good bet. Lovely things and nice to look around.

Curleyhazel · 25/08/2013 17:46

The becksondergaard one is lovely, I very much like it in 'Dull Green'.

Thecat, yes that sounds alarming indeed Grin the oversized scarf is definitely a staple in my wardrobe, although silk square sound nice as well. Do you have a picture showing how they are tied by any chance?

I'll check Liberty's as well.

Yes loads more neck scarves and woollen ones around as opposed to the big drapey mum scarf. I bought a cream cable knit snood last winter and am wearing ti reagrdless

Allthingspretty · 25/08/2013 18:37

TK Maxx I and other MNetters have had BeckSOndergaard scarves from there.
