Where can I find a nice large and soft scarf for autumn?

Natural fabric would be best (wool, cashmere, silk mixes or maybe viscose)

I need it to lift my usually black/grey/navy dresses and coat /jacket but also need it for bf when out and about.

(Posted this by mistake in the tack room before I was fully awake Blush Grin.

Silk squares are difficult to wear with a double chin and trucker's neck :-(

Curleyhazel · 25/08/2013 19:11

Do you buy from tk maxx online or in store?

I recently (over)indulged on this scarf: mobile.harrods.com/mt/www.harrods.com/product/precious-garden-silk-scarf/valentino/000000000003249001?un_jtt_redirect
It's a 'for life' scarf. Two completely different but complimentary tones - one on each side. Love at first sight!

If you want a really oversized scarf that will keep its shape make sure you get one of the £69 and over becksondergaard ones - the star ones are perfect. They are incredibly full and stay like that.

Crutchlow35 · 25/08/2013 20:28

How do you buy the beck ones? There is no add to basket or price?

chardom · 25/08/2013 20:32

I love Lola Rose scarves. 100% wool (very soft!) and large enough to use as a wrap.

NorfolkIngWay · 25/08/2013 20:36

Pah ! to over size scarves not being "in" -pointed front, wrap around is where its at .

Anyone got any tips on how to wear the smaller silk scarves whether square or long and skinny without looking like a 1970's air hostess Wink as that's what I was told last time I wore one to work! Not that they're anything wrong with that...

Shyer · 25/08/2013 20:52

I have just binned a prac unworn Beck star scarf in pink cotton with blue stars (my face went the same colour as the main fabric in the heatwave, I can't look at it again).

Does anyone want it free? PM me if so tonight and I will shove in post Tuesday-

Crutchlow35 · 25/08/2013 21:02

Me please if you can!

According to the Guardian, the way to wear smaller scarves is "cowboy stylee" - you'll see them styled like that on the first Liberty page.

Buuuuut, the young people I've seen wear them in the (far easier to carry off) (what I would call) "Sloane" style - folded into a triangle, pointy bit (the bit with the 90 degree angle) at back, two ends (of 45 degrees) tied at front, fairly low-down. The sort of thing Grace Kelly would have done. It's less "young, off-duty model" and far more 1950s.

I can't say good-bye to my long scarves: they are way to useful. They're like the towel in Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy: you can wear them round your neck to brighten up clothes; over shoulders if the weather is changeable and suddenly cold; they will cover a small, cold child; they'll even do as a beach-rug/extra blanket/sarong/etc. if the need arises.

A silk square just can't compete with that. Sad

I remember the death knell on converse, pashminas, and ballet flats being sounded too.

We are not sheep.

We can rebel ...

I agree thecat, today i used my large h&m cotton scarf as a bf cover at the playground, a pram shade and to mop up after my baby when I couldn't find a muslin quick enough.

I have the most gorgeous thick cashmere oversized scarf from hush in a natural colour - it goes with everything and has totally earned its keep. Cost about £100 but one of the best buys ever and I dread losing it Smile

Allthingspretty · 26/08/2013 16:40

Thecatthey are good for wiping your handa afyer the loo when the driera are rubbish. I obvioysly would not do this with expensive scarves or cashmere...

I recently shopped at peaches and pearls uk. They have a nice collection of scarves for women. My recent order was for Animated Ahoy and Polka Dots Pink and Grey.

here's their website link: www.peachesandpearls.co.uk
