A new princessing/defrumping/groomed challenge

HelgatheHairy · 23/08/2013 18:09

So last year on 15th September I started a thread about a 100 day challenge to take us up to Christmas.

There are a few people who are interested in another try this year so this is a preliminary thread to see who's interested and people can gather any things they want. I'm sure most of us have a few face masks and things lying around.

This year I think we should include a defrumping element to the challenge which will focus more on clothes.

The grooming element is about putting the whole look together.

Am I making things too complicated??

The first link has the guidelines for princessing but there are no guidelines for defrumping and grooming.

I have a 13 day old DD so might not always get a chance to come on but will do my best to keep things up to date.

So are people in?

I get mine done by a lovely Indian lady in my town. It is less painful than waxing (I'm allergic anyway) and really makes a huge difference to how I look.

I've just made this with the DC and it was the first raw/paleo chocolate thing they loved (I let them lick the spoon) I can't wait for it to be finished tomorrow.

Am getting my brows done tomorrow and will embark on the huge hair removal mission if DC3 sleeps soon!

Thanks for the 333 link. I'm going to have a look at that later too :)

lucysmam · 25/08/2013 19:52

It's an asian woman who does it & she seems to have a fair few asian clients. No-one ever looks to be winceing (sp?) in pain either. I might stick to tweezers for the next week until the kids go back to school and nursery and then I can go nose in superdrug without them....fairly sure there's a woman does it in there too.

Have just exfoliated & de-fuzzed (except for legs, am going to try out new epilator tomorrow) and used a face mask. Oh, and remembered to get the pumice stone on my feet....must put cream on when kids go to bed. First time in ages I've remembered to do all that at once!

FrogsgoLaDiLaDiLa · 25/08/2013 20:23

I'm in! What a fantastic idea! We now live overseas but will be coming back to the UK for Christmas and it would be great for there to be a noticable difference. I have recently started doing a little more exercise but the diet and grooming side still leave a lot to be desired!

My eyebrows really need threading so that is first on my to do list. I had them waxed for the 1st time ever last month and was really disappointed. The regrowth was way quicker than when I get them threaded and it was also considerably more expensive. If anyone is considering threading, I thoroughly recommend it.

Does anyone else have really fine hair? I find that it often looks really limp and lifeless and so give up and tie it back. Any wonder products out there that anyone would recommend?

Exercise wise, I've just finished C25K and have started a Runkeeper app training plan called Running 4 fat Loss. It basically starts where C25K finishes and hopefully will keep me moving as without a specific structure, I struggle to keep motivated! The cat gets a bit over excitied when I do exercise videos and often decides it means a game called 'Hunt the feet!' I've used that as an excuse not to Shred for the last 3 months but in reality shutting her in the bedroom for 20 minutes isn't going to hurt her [smiile]

Yikes sorry that got a bit long! Really looking forward to starting properly on the 1st.

Lavenderhoney · 25/08/2013 20:29

How strange, I was just thinking of the princess thread from last year and I found this:)

I am low carbing and on to start the next boot camp, so I am doing quite well, as I don't like fizzy drinks and sweets/ sweet stuff, crisps etc

On the list, I have to work on no alcohol, and doing the shred or whatever but that might have to wait til next week and the dc go to school.

I have nails and feet on my list to do, and tonight I am going to be bed early:)

ImFineThankYou · 25/08/2013 20:44

DP is away for the day tomorrow so me and dc are going to have a pamper day!
Going to write a list and organise my potions.
Have had a wardrobe clearout recently.
Really need to feel better about myself at the minute so this might be the way forward!

I have loved reading other people's daily/weekly/monthly routines so keep them coming! Grin

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/08/2013 20:51

Frogsgo for fine hair Jerasrase Volumactive shampoo and spray leave-in conditioner are fantastic. Very pricey though. What I do is use a normal price shampoo for the first wash and then I just need a ridiculously small amount of Volumactive for the second leathering. If you look on eBay you might find a huge salon bottle for comparative peanuts! Doesn't happen often though.

Other than that, you can also look at shop Rush; it's a hairdressing chain's website with hair products and they often have discounts.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/08/2013 20:52

Kérastase!

lucysmam · 25/08/2013 21:30

Who here Shreds? Have just looked up and skipped through level one on youtube....how long do you do each level for? Could I pick out bits for my 6yo to do? (she is keen to do some exercise with me but not sure how suitable this will be)

Am I going to end up schoooopidly sweaty?

And do I need any special kit or will trakkies & an old tee shirt do?

JemimaMuddledUp · 25/08/2013 22:01

I'm in! I need some kind of motivation to keep up general maintenence, especially as winter draws in.

I'll adapt the list to suit me though. Weight wise I'm OK, I've lost just over 5 stone over the past year and am now a size 10. I just need to remember to keep up the healthy eating now I've hit target. I also need to firm up my leftover flabby bits, The Shred is too intense for me though as it sets off my asthma. I've been trying C25k but keep having to stop and start when my chest is bad, which is annoying. I've got some Joanna Hall DVDs that aren't too intense so I shall probably use them.

I've recently had my hair cut into a pixie with a side swept fringe, so I need to make regular appointments to keep it tidy. I have also discovered tht my local salon do a "lunchtime" package (which takes 90 minutes - longer than any lunchbreak I've ever had - but you can book appointments in the evening or on a Saturday) where you have a mini facial, an eyebrow wax and a file and polish for hands and feet for £25. At that price I plan to have one every month.

I don't own a huge amount of clothes as I haven't been this size for very long, but at least pretty much everything goes together.

I have got pretty good with skincare, I use the Superdrug Hot Cloth Cleanser and it has really improved my skin. I think it is the exfoliating action of the muslin cloth. I went on holiday and used some REN samples that I'd got on a magazine and my skin was far worse, which just goes to show that price isn't everything.

Looking forward to the start of September!

Rummikub · 25/08/2013 22:34

So today, I have trimmed and filed my nails. And now massaging oil into my cuticles.

Have used bio oil on my stretch marks and scars. I have 2 bottles and have never used it regularly. Under eye cream and anti ageing serum on face.

Is the shred on you tube? How scary is it?

lucysmam · 25/08/2013 22:40

It didn't look too bad but I only skipped through to have a quick look. Was hoping someone who has done or is doing it could maybe shed more light.

(how did the angel delight lollies go?)Smile

Rummikub · 25/08/2013 22:49

Ha ha! Not made them yet. I have 3 different flavours of ice cream I my freezer right now so will get down to one first. (They were on offer and couldn't resist).

I will check out the shred on you tube.

NotAsTired · 25/08/2013 23:07

lucysmam you do each level for 10 days. You just need an exercise mat or towel (if carpeted), you can wear joggy bottoms and old t-shirt (just make sure you are wearing a well supported bra) and some hand weights. You don't need the hand weights straight away, I don't think, just get your posture and form right first.

Not sure if its suitable for a 6 year old. She will enjoy the aerobics part for sure.

NotAsTired · 25/08/2013 23:10

It's basically three sets of 3 mins of strength, 2 mins cardio and 1 min abs plus warm up and cool down. About 20 of the circuit plus the warm up/cool down. You will be dripping with sweat but you will feel great. Smile

FrogsgoLaDiLaDiLa · 26/08/2013 04:20

Thank you Drink. I'll keep an eye out for any deals!

dazzlingdeborahrose · 26/08/2013 09:19

I'm in for a 1st September start. Started easing myself in last night with a bath, face cleanse, exfoliation and a face pack. Have started with the blanx and am about to head up to the shower for a good body scrub Smile. Although I have lemons, this morning I had coffee. I am ashamed Hmm

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/08/2013 09:20

Has beautifully painted toe and fingernails !
Well I thought I would start at the ends and work my way in .

Going shopping tomorrow and will buy a new notebook , and maybe even a pen to go with it , and compile my list .

Top is going to be lose weight .
Then cut back a bit on the wine and up on water .

How much fruit and veg is everyone going for ?

LonelyGoatherd · 26/08/2013 09:34

Hair is washed, conditioned, oiled and in (small, low) donut bun - more princessy than my usual scraped back ponytail!

Body has body lotion on - I like the Jergens unscented one - plus perfume (issy miyake)

Used free sample of estee lauder night repair shizz last night - seems to work, as look less grey than usual despite night up with the baby...

Wearing contact lenses instead of glasses, and am mid-manicure. Far from princessy as am crap, but slightly less scraggly!

Now to find lost make up bag Grin, and make appointment for eyebrow and lip wax and fringe trim. Also want to reduce carbs and shred or run later .

lucysmam · 26/08/2013 09:55

Thanks NotAsTired, I'll kit myself out with a sports bra tomorrow and make a start then. Will watch first and pull out bits for dd to do, she can always do some after school with me and then I'll do the lot when both are in bed.

I'm about as far from princessy as you could get today, still mooching around drinking Brew in my dressing gown after my 3yo decided last night was not a night for sleeping Hmm

Dp's off to work in a bit though so shall compile my tick list for the next month Smile

HelgatheHairy · 26/08/2013 11:03

dazzling don't feel bad about the coffee, I'm having a giant travel mug of tea. Baby woke (for the 2nd time) at 5am and refused to latch on with me lying down so I had to sit up to feed her and she didn't settle till bout 7.

I have showered, washed hair, washed face, moisturised and eye creamed though.

OP posts:
dazzlingdeborahrose · 26/08/2013 11:58

Was mooching around Boots yesterday and came across Vasaline Spray and Go body moisturiser - it's brilliant! Spray on 'cream' quick rub and your done. Body moisturised in under 2 mins. Even I might manage that on a daily basis. Anyone else have shortcuts?
