It was pretty quick as all on my looks I like board. Scouring through Matches and NaP was taking too long!

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 11:02

That Balmain is probably too strong for you Sleep, very full on this season. More Kate Moss era.

LinusDKD · 26/08/2013 11:07

No rush marsha, no need to neglect the DC! Wink

That A. Feretti dress is lovely sleep and I also love Marchesa. Georgina Chapman is another twin sister of mine...

I wanted a kneelength Monique Huillier dress with a coloured sash as a belt as a wedding dress but I couldn't find any shop that sold her at the time and probably too ££££ anyway.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 11:08

Ha yeah am having a break now. Am outside in the sunshine.

LinusDKD · 26/08/2013 11:12

Monique Lhuillier rather.

mignonette · 26/08/2013 11:17

Clever Marsha Would you believe it that I was admiring the Etro print campaign in US Vogue last night? I was wondering whether that luxe printed Velvet look was for me

Ochre is me. Not so keen on the print pants-the cut and print is not quite what I go for but everything else. Very clever. And that backless dress is to die for. I am quite girly in that I will incorporate a bit of pretty in the most austere of outfits. I love colour and yes I do go for the difficult to wear in colour/cut Marsha but I'd wear an odd Fugly colour in a pretty dress IYKWIM?

Prada and Marni yes, yes, yes but Christopher Kane is THE artiste as far as I'm concerned because he moves fashion on. I love layering colour and texture and the juxtaposition of a lace bottomed shirt under a tweed or woollen sweater with a sharply cut and folded skirt. The English look of tweed blazer/dress/woolly tights and blocky boots is me 'off duty' although I also do the Tuffnelll Park architect look too-Margaret Howell, Rei Kawakubo, Comme but add a little something something extra to avoid the over literal...

What doesn't suit me is floaty BoHo nor the really masculine suiting. I love the full skirted 50's style but look like a doll in that shape.

Sleep yes I'd like that Ferretti. Both colour (I suit most reds) and the trapeze shape which introduces some 'difficulty'.

mignonette · 26/08/2013 11:18

L'Hullier wedding dresses.....

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 11:21

Yes I wanted a tweed thing for you and a skirt like the one you pinned once. I took a big short cut working with pins I had. Some will be not quite right, a rough draft for you all to refine or change as you wish!

mignonette · 26/08/2013 11:22

You did well Marsha.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 11:22

Ha thanks.

LinusDKD · 26/08/2013 11:32

I WANT this cardigan

Damn you shopping ban!

Drywhiteplease · 26/08/2013 11:33

Love Alberta Feretti Sleep
Need to take up tennis Marsha Wink

LinusDKD · 26/08/2013 11:37

For mig?

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 11:38

A small detail Dry Wink

I need a better Balmain for Sleep, but it's all very shoulder-y

mignonette · 26/08/2013 11:48

Linus That Rykiel is very Dries Van Noten like. I would wear that top with evening pants in a luxe fabric and heels. Go very Palm Beach in it.

LinusDKD · 26/08/2013 11:57

I have to admit I have a soft spot for Sonia Rykiel as DM used to wear her designs when I was very little.

I remember her looking very stylish in SR knitwear and velours jumpers and trousers I know the mention of velour makes it sound like a Juicy Couture tracksuit but they were nothing like it.

mignonette · 26/08/2013 12:01

Linus Your Mother sounds very cool. If you had photos of her wearing SR, it might be worth scanning them in and emailing them to SK because a lot of fashion houses are trying to archive their early designs. I would love to see those photos. The Sartorialist often posts photographs of people in great designs from times when there was no diarising of what we wore.

SR is the queen of knit and casual. Marant owes much to her.

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 12:09

Actually I withdraw Sleep's Balmain, I was in a rush, hope I haven't scared you off Grin

MarshaBrady · 26/08/2013 12:10

I like SR knitwear.

LinusDKD · 26/08/2013 12:30

I'm not sure I would all her cool mig (she is my mum after all Grin) but she has always had her own style and is/was very adventurous.

I also remember her wearing Iceberg, Les Copains and other very eighties brands, then she moved onto Dries Van Noten and a bit of Ann Demeulemeester and now she seems to have become a bit more conservative with her current favourite Brunello Cuccinelli (although she has bought some Hervé Leger the last couple of years)

When I was in my teens I admit that I was often embarrassed by the way she dressed as she didn't look anything like the other mums at school but now our styles seem to grow a bit more towards each other.

I am getting a bit more adventurous and she is getting more conservative.

But, oh the rows we used to have whilst shopping when I was a teenager and in my twenties!

mignonette · 26/08/2013 14:38

Linus She sounds wonderful. I can imagine that as a teenager finding your own style having a Mother that stood out was not ideal. We want our Mothers to pass on the baton so to speak Grin...However what a good role model about following your own path. I won't forget the look of horror on my Mothers face at some of my choices. I returned from my first university term with jet black hair wearing a Noel Coward style men's Dressing gown as a coat, high waisted pants and a crop top (it was1984). Another time she collected me from a holiday job and I ran across the car park in a men's khaki wife beater, braless boobs flying all over the place and you could have cut the air with a knife.

Anyway today I am more covered-a navy and white stripe tube skirt, an Ochre cotton cardigan and C+C California white tank worn with my pink &OtherStories sandals. Looks better than it sounds. Driving back to London tonight w/ DH so comfy clothing for the post bank holiday traffic snarl up.

santamarianovella · 26/08/2013 14:38

Hello everyone!
Had no wifi, for the last few days! Nightmare!,we are going back home today,Sad,but the idea of finally starting with A/W shopping is very exciting! I kept my promise and did no shopping at all, although I had a mini heart attack when I walked, into the celine store and saw the most gorgeous phantom luggage bag in burgundy, very similar to one I pinned to my boards.
Will do a proper catch up later,as I'm in the middle of packing .

mignonette · 26/08/2013 14:59

Hi Santa...Have a safe trip home. Airport/travel shopping is the devil incarnate for forcing a Volte-Face on no shopping vows so well done.

That Celine bag is a beauty...

OneLittleLady · 26/08/2013 15:15

Train tickets booked for the October MU Grin

I'm rather more colourful than usual today, I have a blue, pink and grey heavy weight full skirt on, with a fuchsia pink vest, purple cardigan and nude micro fishnets.

Sleepwhenidie · 26/08/2013 15:35

Hi - I like the Balmain Marsha, especially the white on the right, but you are right, it is a bit too bold a look for me not to mention the prices

Just had a big storm here so I took the chance to browse MW and NAP and update pinterest. Used my 20% loyalty discount to order the Temperley dress and red IRO jacket on here to try. I so nearly managed all of August without buying anything BlushGrin.

Santa have a good trip home. Celine sounds gorgeous although you were a bit reckless going in there when supposed to be on a ban Grin. I meant to mention earlier that I share your love of Pomellato jewellery, almost had three nudo rings for my birthday from DH but went for a Cartier trilogy in the end (which also goes well with my Dodo bracelet).Maybe next year Wink.
