Beyonce's new crop haircut

Have Just seen some pics of beyonce with her new short hair and she looks amazing. The article had a load of befores and afters of others who had gone for crops- Helen Mirren, Sharon Stone, Kate Moss, Carey Mulligan etc and every one of them looked so much better and cooler with short hair, the older women especially. Combine this with being increasingly fed up woth my shoulder length hair in this heat and my 40th birthday fast approaching, and am thinking of dping something radical. Remember Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors? However all these women are beautiful and I am fairly average at best. My hair is naturally mousey so I highlight it, and it's very fine and flyaway. It basically looks a bit Anistony. What i want to avoid is the severe older woman look (think Judy Murray). Appreciate that none of you can advise without seeing me, but what are people's experiences of going for the chop- did you regret it, or feel liberated and refreshed?

I actually don't like Beys short hair but not because it's short but because it isn't a nice style. It's just meh. Love Mileys hair but she needs to stop sticking her tongue out in pictures .

I am the only one who thinks Miley Cyrus looks awful with a crop? Not helped by her dress sense either. Not over keen on Beyonce's new look. Off the top of my head the only celebs who I think/thought look good with short hair are Halle Berry and Victoria Beckham.

There are 2 Mums at school with short crops and they both look absolutely fab. They are both very stylish and seem to have an all year round suntan

Nope I don't like Miley's hair either-again she is not beautiful enough imo to carry off such a harsh haircut.

I would say beys hair is knackered from weaves/dyes etc and she's looking to regrow.

I had the lopsided bob (Vidal Sassoon type) that was worn by the Saturdays girl. Very short one side but sweeps round on other to chin length. Went from bra length blonde highlight to chin length/cropped round other ear and dark red brown.

I loved it. Had massive great reactions. Really glad I did it.

Got fed up after a year and its been two yrs to return to bra blonde length. Another year and I'm chopping it. Need baby to get bit older first (2nd).

Forgot to say, DO IT!!! Hair regrows. It's worth it.

Agree Halle Berry and VB look really good with a crop.

I like mileys. She's young enough. She's got a great face. You don't need to be pretty. You need to be interesting. Make up does rest. And money of course....

I just had my beyond shoulder length hair cut into a pixie cut. I love it, I feel like a new woman, and it saves me 15 minutes of hair drying every day. I've had loads of lovely compliments too .

Or the news reader on BBC Breakfast on the weekend - she looks good with a crop.

I'm tempted to do mine again. I cut it myself though as am a hairstylist/colourist,although I work as a support worker now. Last time I cut it short everyone said it looked great. It was easy to do. I've lost a bit of weight with my new job, lots of walking, so may wait until I lose a bit more first? It's long now past my collarbone.

Oh yes Tamsin looks fab. As does Charlene Spiteri although hers is sometimes longer. They remind me of each other actually.

this is beautiful I think you need a small face like this. Have always wanted it and even did it once in my 20s and looked awful Am envious of all those who can carry it

Charlene does look better with short hair but she is beautiful-she used to be a model. Tamsin greig looks mannish.

Also Ellen DeGeneres ...her hair is amazing

And Mia Farrow stunning when young with short hair. Small features, big eyes look good.

Beyonce still looks beautiful but the haircut isn't the best.

I think Bey looks amazing with a crop. Makes her really stand out from the identikit pop princesses (of which she is Queen!). Also makes her eyes look even more phenomenal.

I think she looks quite ordinary. Short hair suits her, but I think the cut itself is frumpy. Needs to have more edge :perhaps a bit choppier and feathered.

I think Tamsin Greig looks utterly stunning with her pixie hair. I love to see quirky features accentuated by a pixie- I personally think people can look years more youthful when they have a disconnected, choppy pixie and lose the spaniel ears.

Beyonce though isn't pulling it off. She has the dinner lady short hair which is dyed a tacky blonde. She looks plain. Others I have thought didn't look great were Kylie (to much of a pinhead), Emma Watson (too flat a style for her head shape) and Ann Hathaway ( mouth too large and the cut elongated her face).

I do think most people can do it but it has to be the right cut for their head shape.

Rhianna looked great with her crop as did Victoria Beckham.
