How to pull off the 'posh girl scruffy look'

i work in a very naice store, i see so many of these girls/ women a day. You know the look, all underdressed, but also looking very expensive/classy but not over done.

Is it alook that only money can achieve? ( i have none) where would i start?

I think ive got the hair down ( ish) but have no clue on the make up either.

Long legs, good posture, no worries about bills

One of the motthers from DD1's class has this look down to a "T".

She's 10 years younger than me, and used to be a model for Gucci, and the like.

I love the posh scruffy look, I see it in Liberty. Usually shopping with their mothers.

Flat shoes.
Messy hair, unbrushed.
Huge bag, slouchy.
Simple not tight clothes. Like tank and skirt.
Nice watch. Maybe men's style
Minimal make up
Phone
Nonchalance

I love that look - I see varieties of it around. I am just too short / fat / old.

There are some women that can wear a pair of jeans, boots, t shirt, and that is it and look amazing. Better than I do all dolled up!

In a department store, when you walk you should glide. No boppy up-down movements, glide. Like, if you couldn't see the legs you would think they were coasting on roller skates.

I think for boys it used to be jack wills style, but that brand has perhaps now been appropriate by the less well to do so no longer the case! Maybe prince Harry?

Doesn't it just look a bit like this? Young, beautiful, perfect skin, voluminous long hair and an expensive but simple look?

Twin sets, midi lenth classic style skirts, never trousers! Floor length gowns for special occasions.

And lots of sensible dresses, plunging necklines, always with a smart cardi or jacket on top.

'NO' plunging necklines.

We see a lot of this look where we live. You need to be under 25. You need healthy thick hair! Really good skin and really good teeth, a sun kissed tan too. Eye make up - mascara and lipstick, usually pink, nothing else. The clothes are high end high street and confidence, like you are well travelled and used to staying in the best hotels it are still cool enough to camp just for fun.

And you need to be skinny!

You need to be slim but the over 40's can pull off this look too. You need massive sunglasses and slouchy but quality casual clothes from the likes of The White Company, e.g. grey cashmere boyfriend cardigan, black harem crops and silver flat sandals on lovely tanned manicured feet. You walk holding your oversized Chloe hobo on one shoulder and your phone on the other, because you're SO busy and popular, no faffing about in your handbag when the phone rings.

No phone on shoulder, I just made that up... hand I meant to say...

What type of jackets or coats would go ith this look?

To me, this is a slightly modified and mor contemporary London/Home Counties version of what used to be known at my uni (over 10 years ago) as "being a massive rah". Back then it also involved gilets and pashminas, but the basic principle was the same - well-highlighted, healthy, swishy hair; some kind of leather boots that you could potentially ride a horse in, should the need arise; a massive feck-off handbag and clunky ish silver jewellery.

Nowadays I'd say you need to add in a stylishly understated pair of sunglasses, and would also note that delicate gold jewellery is becoming more the thing, rather than clunky silver. Beige/greyish cashmere will always fit with this look, as will dark skinny jeans and metallic sandals.

OP I'd say that if you're trying to do this on a budget then TK Maxx should definitely be your first stop.

The biggest things are the really not caring and the masses of thick hair. The not caring because you are rich of course. And being young too.

I don't think it's a look that only money can achieve - I think it's a look that only thinness and good taste can achieve. Unfortunately even with good taste and money, if you don't have height and thinness you will always look like a bag lady. Sloppy slouchy clothes rarely work on bigger /shorter women, and fitting clothes to your waist and chest can always end up looking too suburban and try-hard. It's a sad fact of life I know about only too well.

Skinny long hair not too 'done' very light tan and minimal make up. Plain clothes and small decent jewellery no big statement high st bangles etc Mans watch and nice short nails. Big expensive bag expensive shoes/boots good teeth. I think it's a natural thing really and is based on the hair and being skinny. It cannot be done if you have shorter mumsy hair and are plump. also no faddy fashions the look rarely changes
