very me

libertychick · 10/08/2013 21:47

Based on Anni's feedback I've gone ahead and ordered the asos chelsea boots. Dithered over a few maxi dresses while I was on the asos site but all the ones I liked were poly so decided against. Going to try and get to Debenhams tomorrow when DD is napping and at least try and get some bikini's or one pieces as I chucked all my old swimwear out a few months ago and have nothing for the winter hols.

QueenC did you have a better day today?
Shop sorry you are feeling so anxious - have you ever tried Rescue Remedy? I find it helps - could be all in my head but who cares? It tastes like brandy so it could be that!

Well done on the packing Dry - where are you off to? (you may have already said - apols if I missed it)

libertychick · 10/08/2013 21:48

Oh that Me&Em dress is lovely Dry

Drywhiteplease · 10/08/2013 21:56

Channel Islands Liberty am praying for sunshine, have heard its lovely, never been .cant wait.

libertychick · 10/08/2013 21:59

Never been there either - DH spent a week in Guernsey once with work and loved it.

Drywhiteplease · 10/08/2013 22:02

That's exactly how we've ended up there....DH went for work earlier this year, said it was stunning.

BrandyAlexander · 10/08/2013 22:47

Errr evening!Blush I am sober!!!! Okay....So once a year, usually as i start thinking about being in the house more for autumn/winter, i nest and have a Lakeland love in! The Lakeland magazine arriving I the post as much as my Tiffany magazines! I decided to pin, forgetting I was pinning it to a public board.Blush

So to make up for it, I will share my first lust for a/w. shoe boots. Have just been admiring this one. I am thinking with dresses to make them funkier?

BrandyAlexander · 10/08/2013 22:48

Gah, that sentence made no sense. Basically, I can get just as excited about Lakeland as info TiffanysGrin

QueenCadbury · 10/08/2013 23:14

Evening all. novice I'm with you-I adore Lakeland. Luckily don't have a local one otherwise I'd spend a fortune!

shop getting better thanks. Have stopped the pill, went for bike ride, friends here and have drank prosecco. Hope all is well with you.

dry I'm definitely in London on 12 oct. my train is all booked. Hope you can all make it otherwise I have 10 hours on my own. Could be dangerous Grin

libertychick · 10/08/2013 23:35

I am 90% certain I'll be there on 12th Oct - DH has been advised! But there is a chance that DB and SIL might visit that weekend so waiting for them to confirm.

Drywhiteplease · 11/08/2013 05:51

Don't be embarrassed Novice Lakeland is a guilty pleasure for a lot of people. Love the shoe boots....luuuurve them.

Righto.....need to perform last minute pre holiday ritual......bleaching all the loos, semi drawing curtains, walking round house three times checking windows are locked.

Decameron · 11/08/2013 09:33

Quick hello from me, may take a while to catch up. We've been back home for a couple of weeks.

Dry, have a great holiday.

Switz, sorry for the loss of your SIL. I am careful with my bags and spray them with Collonil. Also never put them on the ground. When with the DDs, I used to use a Longchamp Le Pliage but just started to use my nicer bags again (DD2 is now 2).

Liberty, summer clothes ... just go to Me & Em (I am obsessed)! We went to Mayo, I was thinking of you.

Ouch at the handbag thread! The Percy Pig comments were hilarious, Anni and QueenC. Also did laugh at all the Lakeland pins, Novice. Great website! I love bags, my max is £500 but will happily spend more when I am working again.

I think you were discussing SAHM/working, I have been a SAHM since DD1 arrived, I tried going back but wasn't happy leaving her in a nursery five days a week and my DH works very long hours. I mostly try to enjoy it as I know I will be back at work when DD2 is in school but I often look forward to that glass of wine in the evening when they are doing my head in!!

Shopping: I had ordered loads from Boden, only liked this, bought this bag in the airport and missed the delivery of this sweater, hope it is not too neon.

mignonette · 11/08/2013 12:59

Hi DeCameron, welcome back. and what wonderful choices. That J Crew sweater Smile . The lace top is pretty and very adaptable, I like lace for day and night. I remember when I was 16 and had just read Shirley Conran's 'Lace'. We went to Hong Kong and I bought fifteen metres of black silk satin and ten metres of silk lace. My Mother made me a lovely dress with a lace overlay in a straight 'Sicilian' style. Quite covered up and demure in cut but the lace was pretty sexy! I still have it.

Dry* have a lovely, lovely time.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 11/08/2013 14:14

Hi everyone :)

I love that lace top, DeCameron

I'm getting ready for work tomorrow. Have just cleaned out my handbag and now I'm trying to decide what to take. I've got flats (for during the commute), painkillers, contact lenses, hair serum, hand cream, a mirror, and room for my lunchbox. I'm thinking I should squeeze a notebook in and I'll probably be done? Anything I'm missing?

I couldn't be any more nervous. I haven't even done any window shopping this weekend! Grin

mignonette · 11/08/2013 14:36

Caja Don't forget tampons......Excrutiating to ask new colleagues for a loan of those.....Smile. Otherwise try to relax as they obviously wanted you.

Here's a bit of leopard from my DailyCandy email here and I so so SO want these strap ankle boots. Ripped off a bit from the original Balenciaga version, but I cannot afford those.

I saw this chi chi silicon sandwich bag online and thought it very appropriate for MNVogue.

this TopShop colour block shell T is interesting too.

foxysocks · 11/08/2013 14:42

money/cards, caja?

gorgeous lace top dry

DH left this morning and was feeling very sorry for myself. so once DS went down for his nap I made a pot of earl grey - DD likes to share this with me, I make her a very weak cup! - and sat down armed with laptop and CC Grin

first up was an ocado shop [boring but necessary] with plenty of veg, fish, fruit etc

then I ordered this adorable dress for my nieces third birthday. she is very pink and girly, thought this was a good compromise as she will love the tutu but the stripes give it an edge. the purple is gorgeous imo. I hope she will wear with converse, might get her those for christmas Smile

I have been in dire need on sunglasses for months as the lenses on mine are cracked around the rim and keep popping out. saw some gorgeous ones on WIBT ages ago and they finally popped up on yoox last week - these lovely YSL. you can see annelli in hers here. I hope they suit me.

finally I cracked and ordered the ubiquitous yet classic le pliage in dark grey. i could have done with this last week at the beach and yet again at the park yesterday. I think the CPW will be excellent

phew. sorry for mammoth post. I do not feel my week will pass without a few more purchases but that has got my week of flying solo off to a flying start!

mwahaha! that will teach DH to jet off leaving me in sole charge of his progeny Grin

mignonette · 11/08/2013 14:54

Foxy that Pliage is so French in its look. Very very good choice and the price! Love the dress too. Saw a little girl in something similar last week with a pair of Biker boots and a kind of Bear headdress on too. Just how I would like to dress if I was not at least 44 years too old. Oh and she had a little Dalmatian print back pack too - a glorious mash-up.

As for as therapy goes, patient know thyself definitely applies to you Foxy re shopping. xx

santamarianovella · 11/08/2013 15:07

i love the pliage, very chic, foxy good strategy!,wish i could get away with it!

foxysocks · 11/08/2013 15:14

well there have to be some postive aspects of a solo parenting week!

(it's all cleared with DH really - I never order stuff and sneak it in unless we can afford it - but I do find that a few well timed parcels in a week of good food and yoga will all help in the happy mother = happy children equation)

foxysocks · 11/08/2013 15:16

does anyone have recs for lovely champagne flutes? my sister gave us a set of four when we got engaged, and we are now down to one, so I would like to get some for DH as a welcome home gift. ideally stocked in john lewis, but am open to suggestions!

BrandyAlexander · 11/08/2013 15:23

Afternoon all! Dd hasn't been feeling well the last couple of days so v little sleep for 2nd night in a row. Then this morning she vomited a lot in the kitchen. Took me an hour to clean upShock I feel sorry for her because I think she's caught it off me. I normally have a policy of no meetings with me if you're sick. As the Barney song goes "keep your germs to yourself!". Foolishly, I relaxed this (thinking its summer I won't catch anything) and have been feeling rough since Wednesday night. Anyway dd's fever has broken this morning so dh has taken the dcs out for a couple of hours.

Tomorrow is my annual "Sort my shit out" dayGrin. Basically, I take the day off work and sort out all the little niggly things that I haven't had time to do. (Eg put collonil on my new bags) I was getting the jump start hence the Lakeland shopping. (House things porn!) I also sorted out dd's sports kit for school and snapped up Quartz this dress in pink and in red. The more eagle eyed of you might remember I already own it in the olive colour and black but its £60! I have made a slight compromise in that I couldn't only get it in the 8 but again it's £60!!!

Dry have a great holiday, Caja good luck at work and Shop....deep breaths and plenty of mumsnetting!

CajaDeLaMemoria · 11/08/2013 15:32

Foxy We've got some lovely champagne flutes with Swarkovski?! crystals in. I think they came from Amazon. We also have some pretty patterned ones from John Lewis, but I think they were more expensive.

Tampons and cards! Yes. Thank you :) Also my railcard.

Novice I'm glad DD is feeling a bit better. DP seems to have been having a "sort shit" weekend, he's been emptying everywhere. He's covered the living room with boxes and piles and eBay things. I'm supervising from a chair with my laptop....no energy at all!

foxysocks · 11/08/2013 15:32

that's lovely, novice. so very you!

i just went to search john lewis and up popped my last three searches. i give you:

muslins
champagne flutes
knickers

lol

BrandyAlexander · 11/08/2013 15:32

Hi Foxy, we have 2 sets, this for every day which is if we have a lot of friends round including children and theres a risk of it being broken. The other set for more sedate occasions is this Waterford one which I bloody brick it every time we use them as they are so beautiful. As you can imagine, we have used the first set a lot over the last 4 years and only look at the other setBlushGrin

foxysocks · 11/08/2013 15:37

of my, novice they are beautiful!

the first look good too, thanks for the links. x
