mig you're determined to get me into a skirt aren't you Grin. Are you coming to the October meet up as I could do with you there as my stylist! I'm very happy to be comparable to KM (moss tht is, not Middleton!) although having seen her irl she does have very bandy legs. Trouser wise I love cigarette pants. When I say I'm wearing crops, I actually mean ankle length. I have to have lots of foot showing though as otherwise the legs look stumpy. I can't wear converse and cropped jeans for ths reason. So I'm guessing that brogues won't work. negroni when I start to like something it usually means it's been in fashion too long and is about to be over like the brogues Grin

Welcome caja, I'm not much help on the work wardrobe I'm afraid. Hair wise I have fine hair but lots of it so it takes ages to dry. For Christmas I asked for a super duper hair dryer (it's a babyliss but high wattage) that was about 60 quid but it's really cut down on drying time. I finish it off with the babyliss big hair as it makes my hair sleek and shiny ish. But I quite like my hair looking polished. It used to be shoulder length but is now a sort of inverted bob which I'm loving. I don't use any products as they weigh my hair down and make it greasy. Every other day I use Toni and guy dry shampoo.

Out for a curry with a friend tonight and goodness I need it. Dc are driving me mad today as for some reason they're all being super clingy. Dh is working long hours this week doing extra work but of course I can't complain as by doing it, it's allowing me to stay at home. I don't think there is such thing as a perfect home/work balance.

Caja I'm the person for volume. I'm a big hair lady!!Grinand have tried a lot of products.

l'Oreal Studio Go Create sculpting spritz.......pretty powerful stuff. Spray (go steady) onto towel dry hair and blow dry into style. If I want a lot of bounce I spray it onto dry hair and blow dry it......a bit extreme as you can get your brush stuck in your hair!

Aveda Phomollient styling foam is pretty good too.

VO5 Surfstyle putty.......don't laugh! I bought this for DS (who has just discovered hair products...chip off the old block!) and tried it yesterday to add volume to my chin length graduated bob. Doesn't look wet, smells divine and a little ruffled through the underneath worked a treat.

libertychick · 08/08/2013 14:30

I have a Radley bag - small tan crossbody, very plain square shape which for some reason they don't seem to do anymore - I really like it and the dog was very easy to chop off!!! Lovely leather and nice lining. Another vote for better colours here - I want a cobalt bag or maybe fuchia. Well done on the bargain Dry. Thanks for the Bridge Story links Mig they look promising.

I am definitely going to buy flat tan brogues for A/W - probably the Clarks Hamble Oak ones - I was debating going more expensive but I trash all shoes and Clarks are always very comfortable and at a price point that I won't be devastated if I trip over myself and wreck them Grin

Welcome Caja work hair is the bane of my life! I have had styles that required a lot of work. Currently I have a short layered bob and it's much easier, only wash twice a week, just damp in the shower on the in between days, run through some leave in conditioner and then some spray on gel to hold the curl and let dry naturally. Saves me about 30 mins in the morning. I was worried about looking less professional but I've had lots of very positive comments at work about the curls!

Negroni · 08/08/2013 14:54

foxy I like your attitude: unexpected payment=unexpected bag. I have had quite a bit more work recently than anticipated (freelancer) so I would like to adopt this kind of mindset Wink

Anyway here are some more bags I like that may kind of fit the slouchy/ rock/ stud brief. rebecca minkoff I love the mini 5 zip comes in loads of colours but I just do not need another small bag.
Also loving this

and this

and this little one

and also this

and basically half the shop - you can buy her in harrods and selfridges but not yet checked which of her bags available here.

Mig I love The Bridge - thank you for bringing it to my attention! Also love longchamp. Thanks for reminding me of coach. I love those bags and really like some in the legacy collection - the penny shoulder purses (little bags again!) and the City tote in dark plume/ Navy - would that look ok for trips to the City? - the name suggests it would! Legacy

Queen I think you are right - I have come to brogues too late and probably only now like them as they have been in the shops for 4 years. I will stick to the ankle boot, especially as I seem to think I can wear it with skirts/ dresses in spite of lack of height. Have seen H by Hudson boots discussed on threads before and am lusting after these in navy horringan . Typically other colours are on sale but not navy. Quite like these - on sale, at least - Rosse but not as much...

Sorry hope I am not boring you all by linking too many bags!!

Drywhiteplease · 08/08/2013 15:27

Boring us with bags?Confused can't happen here!

Negroni · 08/08/2013 16:07

Mig And thanks for the Nordstrom link - for some reason I did not know about this shop and am now looking at everything on the site.

QueenCadbury · 08/08/2013 16:42

I just got emailed the link for the new bottega veneta website. I can't even look at it as I'm salivating over just the first page Grin

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 08/08/2013 16:44

Anyone want to buy me this for my 40th...? Anyone...?

OP posts:
mignonette · 08/08/2013 16:46

Negroni I like that Moonstruck Hobo and the Coach tote would be perfect as pretty secure from Dippers and other such city life scum as long as you can fasten across the top. I like the Horrigan boots best.

Queen I'm sure there is a skirt for you somewhere! Where did you see the Mossy? What I like about Kate is her 'imperfections' She was a refreshing change from the Amazonian Supers with their near impossible template of what female 'perfection' should be. Kate has snaggle teeth, bandy legs, a body shape that is out of proportion but my goodness nobody, but nobody can touch her when it comes to modelling. A friend of mine was a high fashion photographer and he attended one of her shoots when he was an assistant (circa 1992) and he was mesmerised by the way she engaged with the camera, the rest of the room and her smarts. Yes she said that stupid thing 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' which the Pro-Ana movement has latched onto but still.....

Went to the optometrist and yes I have presbyopia to add to my myopia, low mebium levels and malfunctioning tear film! Got quite upset at the thought of tri-focals especially with their muddling information and sales pitch. So I decided just to have two pairs of glasses for different work and book in for a daily disposable lens assessment. Maybe I can wear them a few hours a day as after 32 or so years of lenses, I'm finding the thought of continuing to wear glasses very miserable. Have ordered a pair of Midnight blue geek glasses frames. Act like one, look like one is my motto.

Dry I like the scent of VO5 too. I am not a product snob. I used to love this stuff from the late 80's with the most divine scent. It was in a tall narrow plastic bottle but not 'Flex'.

mignonette · 08/08/2013 16:49

Pinterest appears to have crashed. Is anybody else getting the 503 service error page?

QueenCadbury · 08/08/2013 16:50

I love this necklace

OP posts:
QueenCadbury · 08/08/2013 16:55

mig it was at Cotswold wildlife park. She was there with Jamie and lila and was just really ordinary getting on with everything. You just wouldn't expect that from someone like Victoria beckham who seems to court the press and have loads of security etc. it just made me love her more! Have you seen my kate pin board? Can't link it at mo as pin seems to be down.

OP posts:
mignonette · 08/08/2013 16:58

I am sick of Pinterest going wrong. I cannot re pin, edit or delete and this has been going on for days now. They said they are working on it. Now I cannot play my music pins or click on the youtube link. Grrrrrr

mignonette · 08/08/2013 16:59

Ill have a look when Pin decides to get itself sorted out Queen. What will we do if it disappears forever? [shocked]

santamarianovella · 08/08/2013 17:07

queen ! the bag is gorgeous,

QueenCadbury · 08/08/2013 17:31

Phew mig I was worried for a minute but I can still access pin on the app.

I had a bit of a try on of stuff earlier whilst dd was asleep. I bought these gap trousers in April and they were a real considered purchase that I thought I'd wrar loads. I haven't worn them at all Hmm. Not really sure why but they're just not working for me. I have navy chinos that I wear lots and thought I'd wear a smarter version. Anyone they are uk8 and never worn (just tried on lots!). Would anyone like them?

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 08/08/2013 18:17

QueenC the grey bag would fill the gap in your bag collection. Can't believe those Gap trousers don't work, have you tried them with courts?

Only have 20kg baggage allowance......not sure I can do it. Have packed and re packed into a bigger case already, does anybody else do this? I'm sure I'm taking too many clothes but 2 weeks is a long time. Have until Sunday......this could take a long time!

QueenCadbury · 08/08/2013 18:51

I've tried them with everything dry! Although they're straight, they're verging on skinny so I just think they make me look top heavy Confused.

Where are you packing for?

Just over an hour left until I escape the mad house. I've really struggled today. Tomorrow will be even worse as I'll probably have a hangover Grin. Next week I have friends staying most nights and then dh is off for 2 weeks. Hurrah.

OP posts:
mignonette · 08/08/2013 18:53

That's a shame Queen because they are lovely trousers. How about sling backs with a heel? They'd look elegant. I have the very same pants Queen otherwise I'd bite your hand off for them Smile....

Dry I hate baggage allowances. All I can suggest is wearing your heaviest clothing, decanting necessary toiletries or buying them there. I fuss and fuss over my packing but one thing I have learned to do is to lay everything out as outfits and if each skirt/pants doesn't go with at least 60% of their case-mates, I leave them behind. Obviously with dresses that would apply to shoes/accessories instead. If I take jeans then I fly in them along with my heaviest blazer/jacket and shoes. Then I strip down to T shirt/jeans on the plane and shove it all into the little cloth tote I carry rolled up in my cabin bag. I also put a pair of flats into my cabin bag. And any heavy 'machinery' such as hairdryers/books/notebooks....

mignonette · 08/08/2013 18:55

Queen try them on with something lean on top then get DH to photograph you. See what you look like not in the mirror. Not always easy to judge from reflection. Put a heel on too.

Drywhiteplease · 08/08/2013 18:55

We are off to the Channel Islands......UK holidays are tricky clothes wise, jeans, shorts and layers......we're v dressed down on holiday. Lots of walking and cycling. Can't wait.
Have a great night out QC ...what are you wearing for your curry?

Drywhiteplease · 08/08/2013 18:58

Mig DH always wears ALL his heavy stuff.....I'm used to flying with him wearing sweatshirt, waterproof jacket and walking boots...like flying with Bear Grills I wish whereas I like to waft on in my maxi dress, we look a right pair! Grin

foxysocks · 08/08/2013 19:03

I love lots of those Rebecca minkoff bags, thanks so much for all the links. But I think my heart may belong to balenciaga, sob sob. Will keep perusing and hope something cheaper comes up

the lariat is gorgeous mig but I def do not want to use ebay I'd be too worried about fakes

Negroni · 08/08/2013 19:04

Queen those navy trousers are lovely. Surely you might wear them in the future, though. Sadly am not and not even near a size 8. Thanks for warning us off corn silk powder though, there was a lot of advertising for it in the 80s and as a child I thought it looked like the height of sophistication!

Mig I love those and other stories navy sandals.
