Which colour lip butter did you get QueenC ? I have berry smoothie and candy apple - the latter a bit too red for me, as in I am not used to it. When I last wore it DS asked me "why do you have a red mouth?"

I am getting my colours done, well remembered, but not til the end of the month.

I was thinking about your casual skirts dilemma - would you wear them with converse of brogues? Think a knee length flared / full skirt would work with them. Or tube skirt with converse or ankly boots. Will see if I can find any pins for you.

Wish I had snapped up those £45 Spirals Shop linked to!

Interesting to hear about how you all balance work and childcare with your OHs. I feel like DH and I are in a state of flux as I will be going back to work at some point post maternity leave, not sure how it will work out. I really enjoyed the mix of being at work part time and being with DS a substantial amount of the week too, when I was working. Things felt more equally balanced between DH and I as he also had a day with DS while I was at work. But now it feels more like my role is at home with the DC and his role is working out of the home. My personal preference would be for DH and I to both work part-time.

Good shopping Anni, love those J Crew jumpers.

Great bag purchase Dry - good bargain.

Negroni those are lovely bags. I have not heard of them before. The bag thread also had me musing on which bags I would like to buy! Marsha mentioning Marc Jacobs reminded me that I like this bag

I like the look on this blog though it seems to be cropping up on a lot of blogs. I like the shoes on this blog and in particular the outfit with the checkerboard vans. With those looks in mind, do people think these slip ons are too summery?

these

Hello Switz welcome and just to add my condolences for the loss of your SIL - she sounds like she was a very glamorous woman.

shopafrolic · 07/08/2013 21:26

MrsR fab looks, great shoes (as always) but yes, I think the Liberty print will only work for SS. Sorry.

QueenCadbury · 07/08/2013 21:29

Those liberty prints are lovely mrsR but I'd say they're a summer look only.

Funny you should mention brogues as I've been following the brogue thread and looking at pins but I'm just not sure they're me iyswim? I have some black patent heeled brogues which I utterly adore but I think flat ones may make me look stumpy (although I'm 5'5, I have long body, short legs). Will have to try some on as they're definitely school run friendly.

I love those Liberty print ones MrsR, they are very pretty.

Hi Negroni I haven't heard of that bag make.

Hi Switz sorry to hear about your sil.

shopafrolic · 07/08/2013 21:32

You could rock this MrsR pinterest.com/pin/129548926754532475/

QueenCadbury · 07/08/2013 21:34

mrsR your pins are great but sadly I just lack a certain something to pull them off (my huge sticky out arse would probably not look good in a tube skirt either Grin). Maybe I'm just too classic for such a cool look...? I'm really considering doing the HOC style day as I really need to branch out of jeans but just not sure how.

shopafrolic · 07/08/2013 21:34

I bought these last AW but I only wore them about 3 times. Short hair and brogues is hard to pull off! Very comfortable though.....

QueenCadbury · 07/08/2013 21:36

Oh, I got raspberry pie. Now I know I like the texture I'm going to try berry smoothie too. I read lots of reviews about candy apple but most say that it's quite orangey so won't be suited to me. Tell dh that he'd better get used to the coloured lips once you've had your colours done!

MarshaBrady · 07/08/2013 21:36

I saw one of the best outfits once. Kilt like skirt, socks and brogues. Slouchy jumper. Looked really good.

I can't do that now, maybe early twenties.

MarshaBrady · 07/08/2013 21:38

Not saying that others couldn't do them very well on here. I think brogues are one of those things you have to feel comfortable wearing. I'm not sure I do.

LinusDKD · 07/08/2013 21:51

Evening!

Just came home from a lovely dinner with DH as DM kindly came over to babysit. Yummy food (crème brûlée for pudding) and even yummier wine.

Will try to catch up tomorrow. Bisous!

santamarianovella · 07/08/2013 22:00

hi hopefully and welcome back,

negroni sorry dont know the bag,

skyler love the skirt and great service by and other stories.

shreddies gorgeous dress.

dry wow! what a bargain!

mrsR i loved the liberty print ones,

i could never do brogues,i think you need to be tall,i see a lot of girls pulling it off, with blazer, short skirts they look great,

Drywhiteplease · 07/08/2013 22:03

Style guile does brogues well I think. I look terrible in them although I like them v much.

InMyShreddies · 07/08/2013 22:16

MrsRaddichio I had that MBMJ bag briefly - bought it in a coral colour from Farfetch for £200! And sold on Ebay for £275 a month later having only carried it a handful of times. It is a lovely bag, I really wanted a colourful one for summer but that purchase made me realise that until children are older I am destined to be stuck with cross body bags. I have this and this (although not fake Hmm ) and also briefly another MBMJ - Lil Ukita, which also didn't sit right as a crossbody. The Hillier has been updated recently though so the long strap is now adjustable, which mine wasn't. So a newer one would be ok, and the seasonal colours do go half price so hold out for a bargain.

InMyShreddies · 07/08/2013 22:18

I do think some women enjoy cleaning... I wish I did. If I wasn't worried about mil people judging me I'd get a cleaner. But yy to freelancing blurring the home/work lines and not in a good way. I'm at home ergo it's my job. Gah.

Negroni · 07/08/2013 22:59

Thank you for the hellos

I think Milli Millu bags are just destined to remain a mystery for a while longer. I really like the Rio one: www.millimillu.com/the-rio-taupe.html I like it in taupe and black but possibly mainly because it has swishy tassels that are winning me over.

That bag thread really got me thinking. For ages I have half hankered over quite pricey bags but cannot quite bring myself to spend £1k on a bag - a mix of thinking what if it got stolen and wondering if it is just too high a percentage of my take home pay. Anyway that thread made me realise I should just go ahead and buy cheaper bags that I like so I have given up thoughts of Miu Miu for now but have been looking at others I fancy.

MrsR , Shreddies and other Marc Jacobs bag owners - I have long admired the lil ukita in black lil ukita but recently this washed up billy hobo in purple has been catching my eye.

I work from home with occasional work trips to the City so need something that looks smart enough in a City context but basically does not have to hold much day in and day out. Any thoughts and bag suggestions welcome. I am bag crazy this week!

shopafrolic · 07/08/2013 22:59

saw these and thought of Hopefully

InMyShreddies · 07/08/2013 23:07

Negroni - the Lil Ukita I had felt really stiff, it just didn't feel nice to me personally. I really wanted to love it but didn't. Have you seen the 'too hot to handle' range? IMO the leather is much nicer quality than the Lil Ukita. The tote version is lush in black and 'cement'. I'm a huge fan of MBMJ generally Blush but the Lil Ukita was a disappointment to me.

Drywhiteplease · 07/08/2013 23:08

Pippa bag looks expensive.....loads of colours, should be good quailty....Negroni

Negroni · 07/08/2013 23:13

Dry I really like Radley bags and I love that one you bought! I also like this one kildale and this one Malton.

I wish I could make over DP but he would just not be having it. He would be ultra aware of any subtle shopping I did for him and would no doubt rebel in order to remain his unstylish self The only possible way would be to find v expensive not noticeably fashionable clothes that would look to him like "normal" clothes and to me like a much improved version of his non fashion utility look weeps into red wine thought of DP's clothes

Negroni · 07/08/2013 23:26

Shreddies that is such a shame about the lil ukita - there is something about the shape of it that I love. I like the too hot to handle range and can see from the pictures of it that it looks like a lovely soft leather.

I also like the Pippa from Modalu Dry - I guess I am now thinking that as I only go into the city sometimes, I don't need the kind of smart bag I used to have i.e. structured and could have something more relaxed looking, hence suddenly looking at more slouchy things. What does the Hillier Hobo feel like Shreddies?

So many bags.....

InMyShreddies · 07/08/2013 23:36

I preferred the Hillier leather and general feel to the Lil Ukita. It's not as smart a bag for City , but smart enough I'd say. Head to Selfridges and have a feel though, I'm constantly falling in love with bags which I go and see and they're 'meh' in the flesh, whereas others that don't look much online are gorgeous in the flesh. My favourites on my last trip up town were MBMJ tote , Mulberry Lily and Gucci Disco.

Hopefully · 08/08/2013 06:53

Those are gorgeous Shop (apart from the weird heel shape. Looks slightly like it collapsing under its own weight!)

QueenC and Marsha I love brogues, but they are truly dreadful on me. There is absolutely no aspect of them which suits my style. Which is a shame, as they have the double whammy of being (a) flat and (b) suitable for annoying in-between autumn weather when neither flip flops nor boots is appropriate. Sigh.

Hopefully · 08/08/2013 06:54

oh, and re casual skirts, I live in tube skirts, with flip flops for hot weather, slipper flats or ankle boots for cold weather, and big doc marten 1914s in really cold weather.
