Grin at newsreader hair paris. I once saw Natasha Kaplinsky in Selfridges and her hair really did not move. It was extraordinary.

LinusDKD · 06/08/2013 19:44

paris I prefer your hair!

grumpy we had the holiday from hell last year (dissapointing villa, DS very unsettled, pregnant with DD, attemped break-in two mornings in a row, DH's best friend who we shared the house with über precious about his DD, the list goes on) so I know how you feel.

No piccies shop! That way I can keep pretending I N. Vodianova really is my (much plainer) twin sister.Wink

shopafrolic · 06/08/2013 20:10

Spoilsport Linus :)

santamarianovella · 06/08/2013 20:26

linus from now on i will picture you as natalia vodianova, only if you promise to picture me as adriana lima Wink

LinusDKD · 06/08/2013 20:49

Deal santa! Wink

I have been told (admittedly when I was a lot younger) that I look like the German/Austrian actress Romy Schneider.

I can't see it myself, mainly because she was stunningly beautiful and
I most definitely am not. I'm finally ok with the way I look (well, my face) but I have never been a beauty.

Funnily enough, the nation that seem to find me the most atractive are the French. I like their expression 'jolie laide' which doesn't really translate (favourably) into English but can be applied to people like Sofia Coppola. Women who aren't conventionally beautiful but have a certain allure about them. (Not that I am comparing myself to SC!)

AmberNectarine · 06/08/2013 20:50

I've been told I look like Victoria Beckham many times, which always makes me laugh.

mignonette · 06/08/2013 20:54

Dry, nice outfit. Very nice. Am loving the sound of your Ombre finger tips. New trend perchance? Style it out, style it out...Grin

Paris Having a fit of giggles at your hair dilemma. I look like StrewelPeter all the time, really. God only knows who my 'celeb double' would be now. Loads of people said I looked like Debbie Harry as a teenager/young woman (Yeah right) as similar cheekbones but now not so much ha ha.

Switz I imagine you'd swap the lovely bags for your SIL back in a New York minute but what a lovely gift- a possible 2:55....

mignonette · 06/08/2013 20:56

Linus 'Jolie Laide' and 'Du Chien' are two of my favourite expressions.

shopafrolic · 06/08/2013 21:01

I always get Liza Minelli Hmm

Drywhiteplease · 06/08/2013 21:02

Beatrice Dalle....epitomises Jolie Laide.......it's a just got out of bed, after a good seeing to and a packet of Galoises look........

Drywhiteplease · 06/08/2013 21:03

Grin at Liza!!!

LinusDKD · 06/08/2013 21:13

Hey, Liza in Cabaret was hot!

dry now you've made me crave a cigarette (not necessarily Gauloises)!

Time for bed! I hope I won't have nightmares about Liza, Victoria, Béatrice and Debbie Harry. Wink

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 06/08/2013 21:13

No idea who Beatrice Dalle is but she looks fab. I think I want to be a Jolie Laide!

I have mentioned this before on here but I was told I look like Olivia Colman and Scarlett Johanssen in the space of 24 hours!

BrandyAlexander · 06/08/2013 21:14

Evening all! So this is first proper week of a negotiated agreement between dh and I. We're trying something new where midweek (3 nights a week) I don't expect him home on time and he can work late to his hearts content without coming to meet grumpy me because i have had the pleasure of trying to convince the dcs to sleep.Hmm There are a long list of conditions to go with it but we shall see how it pans out.

I am using my time wisely this evening. Firstly on the charity. Finalising plans for the support the charity is delivering to the kids next month, looking at building plans for rebuilding the kindergarten (its currently a wooden shack with no ventilation that holds 68 children, 90 from next month) and arranging to buy mosquito nets (malaria is the biggest killer of children under 5 in Africa).

Then on fashion. I have been looking at the Selfridges website. Sneak preview of A/W stuff. I am coming to the conclusion that everyone has a season that suits them and mine is summer, and maybe spring. It ain't autumn!Hmm

Having said that I really like this Michael Kors dress and I want a cream coat.

Oh and then other random thoughts. 1. Should I buy a red mac even though I own a black one and orange one? 2. Thank god I didn't buy the Hamilton bag. It is everywhere! 3. So cross with myself as I missed my gym session this afternoon and I am trying to tone up.

Ramblings over!Blush

Drywhiteplease · 06/08/2013 21:32

Novice I love the dress.....I am not allowing myself to buy any more black apart from a bag and have done ok so far.
My season is A/W ....love love love it. Boots, coats, cosy scarves, luscious knits, opaque tights, freezing frosty sunny days, mulled wine and log fires, slippers, yep it's my favourite season Grin
Just out of interest Novice what is "on time" for your DH? How do you manage with your career and the hours that go with it? This is a non judgemental , sincere question. My DH has never been on time ever for anything but I don't have a job that requires me to work late.....i made a comment about this a long time ago on AIBU and was completely flamed, worse than some of the assumptions on the bag thread.hideous.

santamarianovella · 06/08/2013 21:39
