So I just measured by bra size and I'm shocked, is it right?

I measured under and I'm 34. Well I'm 33.5. That is taut, completely flat to skin.

When I do the lean over measurement (which made dh smirk) I measured 41inches.

Am I right thinking that makes me 34E?

I have teeny (saggy and deflated) bosoms!

Ok so I've just done the measuring thing....

I'm dead on 30 underneath and just under a 40 round when I swing em low. What does that make me?

Currently wearing 30g panache tangos.

RubberBullets · 21/08/2013 22:08

30GG. How does your current bra fit?

Fairylea · 22/08/2013 08:09

Thank you, so I'm about right then.

I was just wondering more about the band really because I seem to be able to pull my 30s quite a way out from my body, and they're only a few weeks old too so shouldn't have stretched.

Hmm. Might go bra shopping!

SorrelForbes · 22/08/2013 08:20

Some brands are very stretchy. You may need a 28 in some makes. It's worth a try but remember to go up a cup.

Fairylea · 22/08/2013 10:29

Thank you, I'll do some investigating!

One thing I find annoying is that at a g/gg cup I am on the verge of being able to buy bras with 3 hooks and reinforced shoulder straps which I'd really like, as I always find the shoulder straps quite sore unless they are quite wide. So maybe a 28h in a stretchy band would enable me to find those kind of styles.

I'll see how I get on.

Hanginggardenofboobylon · 22/08/2013 21:51

I have successfully intervened two friends!
Both wearing 34A now in 28/30 C/D . I feel like a proud mother!

I have two other friends I am desperate to sort out, slowly but surely mumsnet will change the nations boobs!

celticclan · 22/08/2013 22:01

Is it normal for bras to stretch after a couple of washes?

I measured up at 32/42 which would make me a 32GG however I miscalculated and ordered a 32H. The back felt very tight to begin with and I struggled to get it fastened but once on it was very supportive. It was ever so slightly big on the cup due to me miscalculating the size but I decided to keep it as I'm about to start losing weight and will need to get some more soon anyway.

It has been washed a few times and seemed ok until today. It's still supportive but not quite as supportive as it was. I'm now having to fasten it on the second hook whereas before I could barely get it on. I definitely haven't lost any weight yet. I'm still on holiday so if anything the opposite applies!

SorrelForbes · 23/08/2013 09:33

Hmmm, they do stretch but not usually that quickly. Which bra is it? Have you used fabric conditioner?

PrincessYoni · 23/08/2013 12:22

celticpromise I am stood here in my newly arrived Curvy Kate 28GG bra from brastop.com and it fits great! Thank you so much! Oh and it's shocking pink Grin

PrincessYoni · 23/08/2013 12:23

You see these giant cups and think 'nah!' But it fits so well!

RubberBullets · 23/08/2013 12:28

Bravissimo fitted me in a 36K Royce Sadie and a 36H Alana. Is it normal to have such a vast difference between wired and non wired or is it something to do with those particular bras?

celticclan · 23/08/2013 12:42

Sorrell, I think it's the Panache Balconette. I do use fabric softener, is that a problem? I'm not even sure what fabric softener is supposed to do its just something that I've got into the habit of using.

CelticPromise · 23/08/2013 13:25

Yay Princess!

SorrelForbes · 23/08/2013 13:27

I'm not sure why but I know that fabric conditioner does something bad to bras Sad

gintastic · 23/08/2013 14:22

Just been to Bravissimo as I have a job interview in 2 weeks and my 5yr+ old maternity bras are frankly shit.

Been buying 38DD for a decade since M&S fitted me in them.

I guess no one here will be surprised that the comfiest bra I have EVER owned is a 34GG...

Feeling a bit rubbish that it took me about 10 years to realise that a 38DD was so wrong for me...

SorrelForbes · 23/08/2013 15:01

Nope, not surprised but pleased that you're comfy Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/08/2013 15:09

rubber check the size chart but I think some Royce bras miss double letters so their k is differ

RubberBullets · 23/08/2013 15:24

Didn't realise that. I've checked and that one does have the double letters as normal so am a bit Confused

gintastic · 23/08/2013 15:25

The girls are all pointy and perky in their new gear! It's amazing! And clothes fit! Although I did splash out on a bravissimo fitted shirt (14 super curvey) and hot damn I have a waist as well. I look like a proper person instead of a vomit stained milk machine...

And bizarrely, my boobs look smaller in a bigger bra?

RegTheMonkey · 23/08/2013 16:36

I was looking a bit matronly in the bosom department and I couldn't figure what I was doing wrong with the bras, I got measured by Bravissimo instore and went from a 36E to a 34GG. The difference was amazing. A much more youthful look and so comfortable. I am on a mission too to get women into the right bra!

mootime · 23/08/2013 16:54

I finally managed to get to the bra shop (wearing a v uncomfortable 38f) walked out with a 34H! Thank you for your advice!

RubberBullets · 23/08/2013 17:29

I love hearing about people getting sorted :)

SorrelForbes · 23/08/2013 18:38

Me too Grin

holycowwhatnow · 25/08/2013 00:20

I went to M&S the other morning armed with my new measurements to try - but not actually believing that I'd ever fill - an F cup. It wasn't too successful but I don't know if it's just me not being able to truly believe my new measurements. I'm 32.5 and 39.5 so Rubber kindly told me to try 32F and sizes around it. So I did but with the 32s, the band was VERY tight and the points of the underwires at the front were digging into my skin. So I tried a 34E but then it looked like there was more overhang than usual over the bra strap under my arms. I think I scooped as best I could?

So what am I doing wrong? Is it just that M&S bras are crap? Is there anywhere trustworthy to get measured (in Ireland)? Or do I need to embrace the new F cup me and brave a 32 band? My current bras (36C) are constantly riding up and are very uncomfortable.

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/08/2013 06:54

M&S bras really aren't great and their sizing is all over the place just now. Do you have a local Debenhams? I wouldn't necessarily trust the fitting but they should have a much better range of bras to try. Gorgeous range runs small in the back
